Disney Destiny Reveals Themed Lounges, Signature Cocktails, and a Special Dr. Facilier Encounter
The Disney Destiny cruise ship is bringing Disney storytelling to life with new themed lounges, innovative cocktails, and an unforgettable “meet and play” character experience with Dr. Facilier.
I can’t wait to share this Disney Cruise Line news with you—because the upcoming Disney Destiny cruise ship is shaping up to be one of the most immersive Disney vacations yet! From jaw-droppingly themed lounges to imaginative new cocktails and even a face-to-face encounter with one of Disney’s most iconic villains, the Destiny is going all out to wow guests at sea.
Exploring The Sanctum, Haunted Mansion Parlor, and Cask & Cannon
When I step onboard the Disney Destiny, one of the first things I’ll be doing is making a beeline to these brand-new, highly themed spaces. The Sanctum, Haunted Mansion Parlor, and Cask & Cannon each bring a different kind of Disney magic to life, inspired by some of the most legendary characters and stories ever told. These aren’t just lounges—they’re full-blown experiences, with stunning décor, detailed theming, and drinks that double as works of art.
Cocktail Creations That Tell a Story
I’m a sucker for all-things Haunted Mansion, and the Disney Cruise Line Beverage Operations Team is pulling out all the stops with drinks exclusive to the Disney Destiny:
Mirror Dimension at The Sanctum: This stunning cocktail features Stoli Elit Vodka, lychee, fresh lemon juice, pink peppercorn, and Electricdust Buzz Rock. Not only does it taste amazing, but it’s served in a glass that reacts to your touch! The tingling Electricdust is a showstopper that makes every sip an adventure.
The Chilling Challenge: My Way at Haunted Mansion Parlor: If you’re a Haunted Mansion fan like me, this cocktail is a must-try. It’s a fresh twist on a Disney Treasure favorite, crafted with Camus VSOP Cognac, Cointreau Noir, Joto Yuzu Sake, orange blossom foam, and edible viola flowers. I can already picture sipping this eerie masterpiece while soaking in the Parlor’s gothic atmosphere.
Dead Man’s Chest at Cask & Cannon: This is the ultimate pirate’s pour! Designed for two, this drink captures the spirit of the high seas with Zacapa 23 Solera Rum, pineapple, lime juice, agave nectar, and coconut froth—and yes, there are gold coins involved.
Meeting Dr. Facilier at Sea
As if that wasn’t exciting enough, Disney Cruise Line is bringing a “meet and play” character experience to the Destiny featuring none other than Dr. Facilier!
Picture this: you’re walking through the elegant Grand Hall, and there he is—cards in hand, ready to dazzle you with a trick or two.
The idea of this sinister-yet-charming villain having his own parlor aboard the ship feels like next-level Disney magic.
I can already tell this will be a fan-favorite experience.
With every new announcement, the Disney Destiny proves it’s not just a cruise ship, but a floating celebration of Disney’s most imaginative storytelling.
Between immersive lounges, bold cocktails, and unforgettable character encounters, I couldn’t be more excited to set sail and explore everything this ship has to offer.

Walt Disney World Announces Major Updates: Walt Disney Audio-Animatronic, Tron: Ares Ride Overlay, Cinderella Castle Refresh, and Villains-Themed Land Inspiration
Walt Disney World has announced exciting updates at Magic Kingdom, including a new Walt Disney Audio-Animatronic in Carousel of Progress, a Tron: Ares ride overlay, a Cinderella Castle refresh, and a first look at design inspiration for the Villains-themed land.
Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando has just unveiled exciting updates for Magic Kingdom, and fans of Disney parks are buzzing with anticipation. From an innovative Walt Disney Audio-Animatronic figure to a bold new overlay for TRON Lightcycle / Run, and a reimagined look for Cinderella Castle, there’s plenty of magic on the horizon. Disney Imagineers also revealed stunning architectural inspirations for the long-awaited Villains-themed land, proving that the future of Magic Kingdom is brighter—and more thrilling—than ever.
Walt Disney Joins Carousel of Progress in Audio-Animatronic Form
For the first time in Magic Kingdom history, guests will soon see Walt Disney himself in Audio-Animatronic form at the beloved classic attraction, Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress.
While details about John, Sarah, and the family’s next chapter remain under wraps, Disney confirmed that Imagineers are keeping the heart of the attraction intact while introducing this iconic experience to a new generation of Disney fans.
Guests can expect a touching tribute to Walt Disney and his optimistic vision of the future, perfectly captured in the attraction’s signature theme, “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow.”
TRON Lightcycle / Run Introduces Tron: Ares Ride Overlay
The futuristic thrills of TRON Lightcycle / Run are getting a major transformation this fall with the brand-new Tron: Ares ride overlay.
Beginning September 15, guests will dive into a high-speed Lightcycle race surrounded by intense red and orange light trails, replacing the attraction’s current blue and white visuals.
Enhanced by the industrial, adrenaline-charged soundtrack of Nine Inch Nails, this temporary overlay promises a heart-pounding experience unlike anything currently at Walt Disney World.
Cinderella Castle Receives Elegant New Color Palette
I am so excited for this one! Cinderella Castle, the iconic centerpiece of Magic Kingdom, will soon feature a refreshed color palette inspired by the park’s original design. I never cared for the pink 50th Anniversary color scheme, and I definitely think it has overstayed its welcome.
Disney shared a stunning new artist rendering, showcasing shades of gray, cream, and blue, accented by gold details to highlight the castle’s intricate architecture.
For over 50 years, Cinderella Castle has been a symbol of Disney magic, and this new look brings back a timeless elegance while maintaining its grandeur.
Villains-Themed Land Draws Inspiration from Paris and Barcelona Architecture
Disney Imagineering also revealed new details about the highly anticipated Villains-themed land coming to Magic Kingdom.
Imagineers traveled to Paris, France and Barcelona, Spain to study Art Nouveau architecture, taking inspiration from the style’s organic curves, bold colors, and dramatic scale.
Collaborating with art historians and local professors, the design team is crafting an immersive land that captures the dark elegance of Disney’s most iconic villains.
Magic Kingdom continues to evolve while honoring its history, giving guests new attractions, immersive lands, and reimagined park icons to look forward to.
From the emotional debut of a Walt Disney Audio-Animatronic figure to the thrill of Tron: Ares, these announcements ensure that there’s always “a great big beautiful tomorrow” waiting at Walt Disney World.

Do You Need to Activate the Universal Orlando Photo Package? Here’s My Experience
Wondering if you need to activate your Universal Orlando photo package before using it? Here’s my first-hand guide on how activation works, where to go, and how to save time.
When I head to Universal Orlando, I almost always add on the My Universal Photos package—it’s the easiest way to collect all the ride photos, character meet-and-greets, and those candid shots in front of the globe without fumbling with my phone. But there’s one question I get asked all the time:
Photo Shop at Universal Studios Florida
👉 “If I buy the Universal Orlando photo package, do I need to stop at the photo center to activate it?”
The short answer is yes—but it’s not as much of a hassle as you might think.
How the Activation Works
When you purchase My Universal Photos, whether you buy online ahead of time or at the park, you’ll still need to activate the package inside Universal Orlando. This step links your purchase to the physical photo pass cards you’ll use throughout the day.
Here’s where you can activate:
On Location at Universal Studios Florida
DeFoto’s Expedition Photography at Islands of Adventure
Waturi Marketplace at Volcano Bay
Or even the will-call window at the front gate
Once you activate, the team member gives you a lanyard and photo card—and you can request extras if your group is splitting up. Every card links back to your account, so all of your photos end up in one place.
Do You Have to Activate Right Away?
Nope! You don’t need to run straight to the photo center the minute you enter the park.
Here’s a pro tip I’ve learned: you can start using a temporary card that ride photographers hand out at attractions. When you finally stop by a photo center to activate your package, those early photos will be transferred over to your account. That way, you don’t waste rope-drop time standing in line.
My Advice
If you want to maximize your photo package:
Grab a temporary card as soon as you get your first photo taken.
Wait to activate until the middle of the day when crowds are lighter.
Ask for extra cards if your family is splitting up—it keeps everyone’s photos together.
For me, this system works perfectly. I get all my ride photos, family shots, and even those silly green-screen pictures without stressing.
Final Thoughts
Yes, you do need to activate your Universal Orlando photo package—but you don’t need to stress about it. Start snapping photos with a temporary card, then swing by a photo center when it’s convenient. You’ll walk away with a full album of memories without sacrificing valuable park time.

Inside Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort: My Full Experience
I just released a new video all about Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort! In this post, I share who this retro-themed, budget-friendly hotel is best for, plus some tips from my stay. If you’re considering Cabana Bay for your Orlando vacation, here’s what you need to know before booking.
Whenever I visit Orlando’s theme parks, I’m always looking for that sweet spot between convenience, comfort, and value. On my most recent trip, my family and I stayed at Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort, and I filmed the entire experience for my YouTube channel.
👉 You can watch my full video tour of Cabana Bay Beach Resort here: https://youtu.be/BSV__puCup4
But in this post, I want to do more than just share the video. I want to give you my honest take on who Cabana Bay Beach Resort is for — and who might want to look elsewhere.
Why I Chose Cabana Bay
I’ve stayed at plenty of Orlando hotels over the years, from budget motels to deluxe resorts. Cabana Bay caught my attention because it’s technically a “value” resort within Universal Orlando, but it offers way more personality and perks than your average budget hotel.
From the moment you drive up, Cabana Bay feels like you’ve stepped into a retro postcard from the 1960s. Neon lights, bold turquoise panels, and even a vintage bowling alley inside — it’s like the Jetsons meet Florida beach vacation.
For me, this wasn’t just about saving money. I wanted a resort that felt fun, had easy access to the parks, and still gave my family some space to relax. Cabana Bay checked all of those boxes.
Cabana Bay Beach Resort. Can you spot Krakatau Volcano in the background?
The Big Perks of Staying at Cabana Bay
Here’s what stood out to me during my stay:
Early Park Admission – Even though Cabana Bay doesn’t include Universal’s Express Pass (that’s for the pricier premier resorts), you do get early entry to Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, Volcano Bay, and soon Epic Universe. This can make a huge difference for families trying to beat the crowds.
Direct Access to Volcano Bay – Cabana Bay is the only hotel with a private entrance to Universal’s water park. After spending a day in the sun, that easy walk back to the room really mattered.
Two Massive Pools + Lazy River – My kids couldn’t get enough of the lazy river. And I’ll be honest — I floated right alongside them.
Family-Friendly Dining Options – Bayliner Diner, the food court, has something for everyone (plus a Starbucks when I needed my caffeine fix).
Retro Fun – Between Galaxy Bowl, the Jack LaLanne fitness studio, and themed décor everywhere, the resort feels more like an experience than just a place to sleep.
See exactly what Cabana Bay Beach Resort is like in my latest video tour:
Who Cabana Bay Is Perfect For
Based on my stay, here’s my advice on who should consider booking Cabana Bay:
1. Families with Kids
The pools, lazy river, bowling alley, and casual dining make this a no-brainer for families. Kids will be entertained even if you take a “day off” from the parks.
2. Budget-Conscious Travelers
If you want to be on Universal property without paying deluxe resort prices, Cabana Bay is a solid middle ground. Rooms are straightforward but still themed and comfortable.
3. Theme Park Fans Who Want Convenience
The free shuttle buses and Volcano Bay entrance make it easy to maximize park time without the stress of driving or parking.
4. Retro & Design Enthusiasts
Honestly, even if you’re not a theme park person, the mid-century modern vibe is reason enough to stay. It feels like you’re living inside a vintage travel ad.
Who Might Want to Skip Cabana Bay
Of course, no resort is perfect. Cabana Bay might not be the right fit if:
You must have Universal’s Express Pass included. For that, you’ll need to book Hard Rock Hotel, Royal Pacific, or Portofino Bay.
You prefer luxury touches like fine dining, plush bedding, and upscale lobbies. Cabana Bay is fun and stylish, but it’s still a value-to-moderate category hotel.
You don’t like big resorts. With over 2,000 rooms, Cabana Bay is large and busy. If you want something more boutique, you’ll want to look elsewhere.
My Final Take
So, would I stay here again? Absolutely.
Cabana Bay Beach Resort is a fantastic choice if you’re visiting Universal Orlando with family, on a budget, or just want to soak up a playful retro atmosphere. It’s not about luxury — it’s about fun, convenience, and getting great value for what you pay.
If you’re planning your own Orlando vacation, I highly recommend checking out Cabana Bay. And if you want a full walkthrough of the resort, from the lobby to the lazy river, watch my video tour here: [Insert YouTube Link].
And if you’re already planning ahead to Universal’s brand-new Epic Universe park, you’ll want to see my guide on how to beat the crowds there. That’s right here: [Insert Link to Epic Universe Post/Video].

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Reopens with New Magic in 2026
The wildest ride in the wilderness is getting even wilder! When Big Thunder Mountain Railroad reopens at Walt Disney World in 2026, guests can expect refreshed storytelling, new surprises like the dazzling Rainbow Caverns, and the same classic thrills fans have loved for decades.
Howdy, folks! As someone who never skips a ride on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad when visiting Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, I can’t tell you how excited I am for what’s coming next. In 2026, this iconic coaster is set to reopen with brand-new magic, and Disney has just shared some electrifying new details about what we can expect when the wildest ride in the wilderness takes us barreling down the tracks once again.
The Story of Big Thunder Mountain
Like every great Disney attraction, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad comes with a backstory. It all goes back to the days of America’s first major gold rush, when a wealthy mining magnate named Barnabas T. Bullion struck gold in the Big Thunder region. Bullion quickly set up the Big Thunder Mountain Mining Company, dreaming of untold riches.
But the mountain had other ideas. Machines failed, cave-ins stopped progress, and strange, unexplainable things started happening underground. The more the miners dug, the more the mountain fought back. Legend has it the spirit of Big Thunder wasn’t too happy with humans carving into its heart — and when guests board those runaway trains, they discover just how wild this wilderness can be.
What’s New in 2026
The mountain-top to cavern-deep refurbishment currently underway is giving Big Thunder Mountain a major glow-up. When the attraction reopens in 2026, not only will it be refreshed for years of thrills to come, but Disney Imagineers are also adding brand-new storytelling elements to keep longtime fans and first-timers alike on the edge of their seats.
One of the most exciting updates is the addition of the Rainbow Caverns, a glowing underground wonder filled with phosphorescent pools and shimmering iridescent stalactites and stalagmites. It’s stunning at first glance — but don’t get too comfortable. The caverns aren’t nearly as welcoming as they look, and that ominous rumble deep within the mountain might just mean trouble ahead.
Why Big Thunder Mountain Is a Classic
From Disneyland to Tokyo Disney, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is one of Disney’s most iconic attractions worldwide. Here at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, it’s a must-do not just for the thrills, but also for the storytelling. The wild ride through the desert landscape, the unpredictable twists and turns, and the immersive theming make it a favorite for families and thrill-seekers alike.
With these upcoming updates, Big Thunder Mountain is about to feel fresh while still keeping its roots firmly in place. For me, it’s the perfect example of Disney striking that balance between nostalgia and new magic.
Final Thoughts
I know that when 2026 rolls around, I’ll be first in line to see the new Rainbow Caverns and experience the wildest ride in the wilderness like never before. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has always been one of my favorites at Walt Disney World, and now, with new surprises deep inside the mountain, this classic is about to become even more legendary.
So hold onto your hats, folks — Big Thunder is coming back, and it’s going to be a wild ride!

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets: Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2026
The Muppets are taking over Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Opening in 2026, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets will feature the Electric Mayhem, a brand-new soundtrack, and the same high-speed thrills fans love — all with a hilarious Muppets twist.
As a huge Muppets fan and longtime Disney World visitor, I can’t even begin to describe how excited I am for this announcement: Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets is officially speeding into Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2026! This high-energy reimagining of the classic attraction combines the fast thrills we already love with the outrageous humor and chaos that only the Muppets can deliver.
And the best part? The new headliners are none other than the legendary Electric Mayhem.
The Electric Mayhem: One Night Only!
The story kicks off with the Electric Mayhem preparing for their biggest Hollywood concert yet. Animal, Dr. Teeth, Janice, Floyd, Zoot, and Lips are set to rock the house — except for one tiny problem: the band has gone missing!
Across town at G-Force Records, things look a little different these days. That’s because the record label is now under new management — The Muppets! With Scooter’s uncle, J.P. Grosse, putting his name (and the “G”) into G-Force, the Muppets have transformed the legendary studio into their own colorful headquarters. It’s the perfect place to make music… if only the band can actually stay put long enough to play a show.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Courtyard
Before you even step inside, the fun begins. Fans of the giant red guitar outside the coaster will be happy to know it’s staying — but with a Muppet twist. The new version features a psychedelic paint job inspired by a classic Muppet car design, along with a golden piano key detail that nods to Dr. Teeth himself. It’s a fresh, funky new look that sets the tone for the chaos inside.
Welcome to the Studio
Your VIP pass gets you inside G-Force Records, where the penguin engineers are hard at work, Scooter is frantically trying to wrangle the Electric Mayhem, and the band… well, let’s just say they’d rather jam than head to the stage. It’s classic Muppet mayhem in the making.
A Rock ‘n’ Roll Road Trip
Of course, it wouldn’t be Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster without a high-speed ride across town. Thanks to some wild technology from Muppet Labs, you’ll hop into a super-fast limousine for a twisting, turning, scream-filled race through Hollywood. Expect plenty of hilarious Muppet-style detours, sight gags, and cameos along the way.
And yes — throughout the ride you’ll be blasting the Electric Mayhem’s greatest hits in your ears. I can already tell this soundtrack is going to be incredible, and I’ll be crossing my fingers for a setlist reveal from G-Force Records soon.
Final Thoughts
With its mix of high-energy thrills, incredible music, and laugh-out-loud Muppets humor, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets is shaping up to be one of the most exciting new Disney World attractions in years. I know I’ll be first in line at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2026 to experience it for myself.

What to Expect at Zootopia: Better Zoogether! at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Get ready to step into the world of Zootopia at Disney’s Animal Kingdom! The new Zootopia: Better Zoogether! attraction brings Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde, Gazelle, and brand-new characters to life in a spectacular 4D show at the Tree of Life Theater. Here’s everything you need to know before your next Walt Disney World visit.
I’m so excited to share the details about one of the newest additions coming to Walt Disney World — the Zootopia: Better Zoogether! attraction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. As someone who’s always on the lookout for what’s new at the parks, I couldn’t wait to dig into what this experience has in store.
When you make your way over to the Tree of Life Theater (home to past fan-favorites like “It’s Tough to be a Bug”), you’ll step right into the celebration of Zoogether Day. This is where the world of Zootopia comes alive on stage with familiar faces and brand-new friends. One of the standouts is Heidi Howler, a slick-talking wolf who hosts the Zoogether Day LIVE! broadcast with excitement, energy, and — of course — plenty of howling.
Of course, the stars of the show are none other than Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde. Not only will they appear in the attraction itself, but you’ll also find them greeting guests over on Discovery Island at the Zoogether Day Gathering Spot. For me, that’s one of the coolest parts — the chance to meet these characters in person before or after seeing them in the show.
The Zoogether Day festivities highlight the different biomes of Zootopia in a way that only Disney could pull off. Guests will see:
An ice-skating spectacular straight from Tundratown
Synchronized swimming inspired by Marsh Market
Tiny mouse drone shows lighting up the skies over Little Rodentia
A grand musical finale from Gazelle herself
What makes this even more special is that the cast from the original Zootopia movie — including Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman — are returning to lend their voices. On top of that, Disney Animation filmmakers Jared Bush and Byron Howard worked hand-in-hand with Walt Disney Imagineering to create a seamless blend of film and theme park magic. That’s how you know this will be more than just another show — it’s truly going to immerse us in the city of Zootopia.
And if you’re a Disney fan like me, here’s a little extra magic: previews are expected later this fall for Cast Members, Annual Passholders, and Disney Vacation Club Members. I’ll be keeping a close eye on those announcements, because you can bet I’ll be there the second they open the doors.
This new 4D show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom feels like the perfect addition to a park that’s all about celebrating the natural world. Zootopia: Better Zoogether! not only brings beloved characters to life but also reminds us that our world, like Zootopia’s, is profoundly interconnected.
I know I’ll be heading straight for the Tree of Life Theater on my next visit to Animal Kingdom. Between the energy of the live show, the chance to meet Judy and Nick, and the incredible details Disney always delivers, this attraction sounds like it’s going to be a must-see in 2025.
So, are you ready to experience Zootopia: Better Zoogether! at Walt Disney World? I know I am — and I think it’s safe to say this is going to be one of the wildest new shows at Disney’s Animal Kingdom!

Where to Dine for Free on Royal Caribbean’s Utopia of the Seas
Sailing on Royal Caribbean’s Utopia of the Seas? You don’t have to spend extra to eat well! I explored every included dining spot onboard — from buffets and pizza to tacos and elegant dinners. Here’s my first-hand guide to the best free restaurants so you can plan your perfect foodie cruise.
If you’re like me, one of the best parts of cruising is the food. And on Royal Caribbean’s Utopia of the Seas, there’s no shortage of incredible included dining options. That’s right — many of the best meals onboard are already covered in your cruise fare. As someone who loves both eating well and saving money, I made it my mission to try all the Utopia of the Seas restaurants where you can dine for free.
Below, I’m sharing my favorites — from poolside snacks to elegant dinners — so you can plan your foodie adventure at sea.
Windjammer Marketplace
The Windjammer is my go-to spot for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It’s buffet-style, with a massive variety of dishes from around the world. I love grabbing a plate of fresh fruit in the morning or sampling new international flavors at night.
Main Dining Room
Every evening brings a new three-course menu — and it’s all included. Think lobster tail on formal night, filet mignon, or escargot. The atmosphere is beautiful, but there’s no strict dress code, so I often keep it casual.
Sorrento’s Pizza
Located on the Royal Promenade, Sorrento’s serves pizza until late at night. Perfect after a show or a few hours of dancing.
Café Promenade
Open 24 hours, this spot keeps me fueled with coffee, pastries, and light bites.
Park Café
Tucked in Central Park, it’s quieter and perfect for breakfast or a light lunch. Don’t miss the fresh salads and sandwiches.
Solarium Bistro
Mediterranean-inspired and steps from the adults-only Solarium — I come here for fresh Greek salads, tzatziki, and lamb chops.
El Loco Fresh
Poolside tacos, burritos, and nachos? Yes, please.
Boardwalk Dog House
Gourmet hot dogs with a variety of toppings. A must-try on a sunny day.
The Spare Tire
This new poolside food truck has incredible pulled pork sandwiches and flatbreads.
Room Service (Some Items)
Continental breakfast is free — great for slow mornings on the balcony.
Watch my full video guide to see these dining spots in action:
If you’re planning a Royal Caribbean cruise from Florida, make sure you save this list. The free dining on Utopia of the Seas is worth the trip alone.

Universal Orlando Attraction Closures & Refurbishments – 2025 & Beyond
Several rides at Universal Orlando Resort will be closing temporarily for refurbishment in 2025, with one major coaster saying goodbye for good. Here’s the full list of dates so you can plan ahead.
Heads Up: A Few Attractions Are Taking a Short Break! 🛠️
If you’re planning a Universal Orlando trip in late 2025 or early 2027, it’s always smart to check which attractions might be down during your visit. While most rides and shows run year-round, the parks schedule short refurbishments to keep everything running smoothly — and sometimes, those closures bring major changes. Here’s what’s on the calendar right now (dates subject to change).
Revenge of the Mummy
📅 Closed August 11 – 13, 2025
Good news — this fan-favorite indoor coaster is only going down for a quick three-day tune-up. If you’re visiting around these dates, plan to ride before or after the closure window.
Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit – PERMANENT CLOSURE
📅 Closing August 18, 2025
This is the big one. The towering music coaster at Universal Studios Florida will be closing permanently to make way for a brand-new experience. Universal hasn’t announced what’s replacing it yet, but stay tuned — we’ll update as soon as details drop.
Skull Island: Reign of Kong
📅 Closed August 20 – September 3, 2025
Kong is taking a short break for maintenance. This dark ride is popular for its massive animatronic finale, so a little TLC will only make it better.
Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls
📅 Closed October 6 – 31, 2025
This cartoon-inspired log flume is closing for a few weeks during the fall. Considering the Florida heat, you may not miss it too much — but it’s still a fun one to ride if you love getting soaked.
Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey
📅 Closed November 10 – 20, 2025
The signature attraction inside Hogwarts Castle will be closed for a short refurbishment. If this is a must-do for you, try to work around these dates when visiting The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade.
Volcano Bay – Seasonal Closure
📅 Closed October 26, 2026 – Reopening on or before March 24, 2027
Universal’s water theme park will be taking its longest break yet for seasonal maintenance. While Volcano Bay usually closes briefly in winter, this extended downtime could mean big upgrades are in store.
Plan Ahead & Stay Flexible
Attraction closures are a normal part of theme park operations, but with a little planning, you can still enjoy an incredible Universal Orlando vacation. Keep checking back here at OrlandoParksGuy.com for updates — especially if more details are released about Rip Ride Rockit’s replacement.

Photo Tour of Disney's Art of Animation Resort - Little Mermaid Rooms
Thinking of staying in a Little Mermaid Standard Room at Disney's Art of Animation Resort? Join me for a photo tour of this popular Disney Value Resort! I'll take you inside one of these uniquely themed rooms and give you an idea of what to expect during your stay. Plus, since Art of Animation was originally planned as Phase 2 of Pop Century, I'll show you how the Little Mermaid rooms compare to their Pop Century counterparts, highlighting the key differences in beds, space, and overall vibe. Find out why many consider the Little Mermaid rooms to be the best of the Disney Value Resorts
Recently I had an opportunity to stay at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort in a Little Mermaid Standard Room. There are two sections to Art of Animation: the Little Mermaid Standard Rooms section (regular hotel room with 2 beds) and the Family Suites section. Today I’m writing specifically about the Standard Rooms.
How Disney’s Art of Animation Resort Little Mermaid Rooms Compare to rooms at Disney’s Pop Century Resort.
Art of Animation was originally planned to be phase 2 of Disney’s Pop Century Resort so there are a lot of similarities. Both, Little Mermaid and Pop Century have nearly identical exteriors, only the themes are different.
Rooms are about the same size at and they both have the similar, if not identical, floor plans. Even the lobby and food courts are nearly identical.
The maximum occupancy in each standard room is 4 guests plus one child under the age of 3 at both resorts.
Little Mermaid rooms have 2 queen beds whereas Pop Century has 1 queen bed and one queen-size murphy style bed. While Pop Century gives you flexible space, Little Mermaid rooms are a more traditional hotel room.
In the Disney Value Resort pecking order, Little Mermaid rooms are at the top, and considered to be a crossover resort to the Moderate category hotels.
This means that the price to upgrade to a Disney Moderate hotel isn’t that much more than a Little Mermaid room. For example, the average nightly rate is $240 per night for a Little Mermaid room. Disney’s Coronado Springs, Standard view is about $260 per night.
Disney’s Pop Century has an average nightly rate of $203 per night and the All Stars are about $185 per night.
Are Little Mermaid Standard Rooms worth the additional cost?
Yes! Rooms have upgraded softgoods, better soundproofing, a very kid-friendly theme, and they are the only Value rooms to offer 2 traditional queen size beds.
Throughout the entire resort you’re surrounded in the artistry, enchantment and magic of Disney and Pixar movies. Disney’s Art of Animation “draws” you and your family in to become a part of some of your animated favorites.
Disney’s Art of Animation Resort Little Mermaid Standard Rooms have 2 queen beds. This is the only Disney Value resort that offers regular queen beds. A limited number of king bed rooms are available.
Rooms have a small table and 2 chairs. The trend within the Disney Value Resorts these days is to have 1 queen bed, and 1 queen murphy bed that doubles as a table.
Little Mermaid rooms are ideal if you prefer not to flip the bed up and down. By the way, it looks like someone left a few notes for you on the table! Be sure to check them out!
Bathrooms are small, this is typical for both Value and Moderate hotels at Disney World, but the bathroom and vanity are separate. This not only gives you more room, but makes it possible for more than one person to get ready at the same time.
Vanities have one sink, same as the other Value Resorts. If you prefer 2 sinks, you’d have to go with a Moderate Resort.
To maximize space and to create a little privacy, a Little Mermaid themed curtain divides the bath and vanity area from the room. It’s a great way to maximize space.
Art of Animation Resort has the some of the most-kid friendly hotels rooms on Disney World property and have a whimsical theme throughout.
As with all Disney Value Resorts, larger than life icons are found throughout the resort. Here’s Ursula who looks overlooks one of the pools. It’s reminiscent of the end scene in the movie when Ursula grows in size and rises of the ocean, except here it’s not scary.
The Little Mermaid section of Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is about a 5 minute walk to the Disney Skyliner station. If you’d like to see which rooms are closest to the Skyliner station, see my video on Disney Skyliner here.
There are 3 pools at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. As a guest of this hotel, you’re free to use any of the pools on site. The feature pool is centrally located to the resort, near the Nemo section and features underwater music. The Little Mermaid section has its own pool and so does the Cars section, which is by far my favorite!
The pool in the Cars section has cabanas that are oversized traffic cones. There’s no extra cost to use them, they’re just here for fun!
Be sure to take a tour around the entire resort. There’s a lot explore, especially the Cars section.

New Disney World Attraction Announced for 2026
A brand-new animated experience is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2026. “The Magic of Disney Animation” will immerse guests in the legacy of Walt Disney Animation Studios, complete with an indoor playground, reimagined courtyard, and a heartfelt short film inspired by Once Upon a Studio.
Key Points
Disney is debuting a new animated adventure, "The Magic of Disney Animation," at Hollywood Studios in Disney World in 2026.
The attraction is inspired by Walt Disney Animation Studios and an Emmy Award-winning short film, offering interactive exhibits and family-friendly experiences.
Highlights include a whimsical interpretation of the studio's early days, a short film screening, an all-new indoor playground, and a reimagined Animation Courtyard.
Several existing buildings will be redesigned to align with the new theme, with closures starting from Sept. 25, 2025.
In 2026, Disney’s Hollywood Studios will introduce an exciting new animated experience titled The Magic of Disney Animation. This attraction draws inspiration from the legendary Walt Disney Animation Studios in Burbank, California, as well as the acclaimed Emmy Award-winning short film Once Upon a Studio.
Located in the building currently home to Star Wars: Launch Bay, guests will be transported into a whimsical reimagining of the studio’s early days. The experience will showcase Disney characters bringing various animation departments to life, providing an immersive look at the creative process behind Disney’s beloved films and shorts.
This new attraction promises to blend nostalgia with innovation, offering fans a unique peek into the magic of Disney animation history while celebrating the artistry and storytelling that have defined the studio for nearly a century.
Portraits will come to life in the Production Gallery, creating an immersive experience that echoes a memorable moment from "Once Upon a Studio." This interactive display allows guests to engage closely with beloved characters in a dynamic setting.
Meanwhile, the Screening Theater offers a short film designed for all ages, promising enjoyment for the entire family. The storytelling captures the magic and creativity behind the scenes, providing insight into the animation process.
Visitors will also have the unique opportunity to learn how to draw some of their favorite characters through guided tutorials. After honing their skills, guests can meet these fan-favorite characters in person, adding a personal touch to their visit and deepening their connection to the world of animation.
Families with younger children will delight in "Drawn to Wonderland," an all-new indoor playground inspired by Mary Blair's iconic concept art for Alice in Wonderland. This vibrant and imaginative play area features an oversized flower garden equipped with musical instruments, encouraging little ones to explore sound and creativity. The whimsical Mad Tea Party playset offers fun climbing and spinning activities, while the Tulgey Wood exploration area invites kids to embark on adventurous discovery through winding paths and playful surprises.
Adjacent to the indoor playground, the Animation Courtyard is being transformed into "The Walt Disney Studios," an inviting outdoor space designed with families
Beginning September 25, 2025, Animation Courtyard, "Star Wars: Launch Bay," and "Disney Jr. Play and Dance!" will close to make way for an exciting transformation. The exteriors of several existing buildings will be reimagined with design elements inspired by iconic architecture found in Burbank, creating a fresh and immersive atmosphere for guests.
While these areas are undergoing changes, visitors can still enjoy "The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure" and "Walt Disney Presents," ensuring that there are plenty of memorable experiences to enjoy during the transformation period. This reimagining reflects a commitment to enhancing storytelling and guest immersion in the heart of the park.

Here are 10 mind-blowing features that make Star of the Seas a true game-changer:
10. Surfside Neighborhood: A Dedicated Area for Young Families
Royal Caribbean’s newest family concept isn’t just a kid’s club—it’s a full neighborhood. Complete with a splash pad, family pool, and kid-friendly dining, Surfside is where parents and kids can vacation together—without sacrificing adult-level comfort. It’s returning from Icon of the Seas, but expect enhancements on Star.

7. Infinite Ocean Views from the Hideaway
Hideaway Beach Pool on Star of the Seas
Think of it as a beach club in the sky. The Hideaway, perched 135 feet above the waves, features the first suspended infinity pool at sea. Add a bar, DJ, and adult-only vibe—and you’ve found the most Instagram-worthy spot on board.

5. Central Park 2.0
Yes, there’s a real park onboard. Royal’s signature Central Park, first introduced on Oasis-class ships, gets a dramatic refresh here. More greenery. More outdoor dining. More tucked-away bars. This is your mid-ship oasis away from the buzz of the boardwalk.

2. Thrill Island & Crown’s Edge
Crown’s Edge
Star of the Seas will bring back Thrill Island, but it’s Crown’s Edge—part ropes course, part zip line, part free fall—that’s getting all the attention. Suspended high above the sea, this is the adrenaline rush you’ll talk about long after you’ve disembarked at Port Canaveral.
1. It's Sailing From Port Canaveral—No Stress!
Let’s not forget the biggest perk for Florida-based cruisers: Star of the Seas will homeport in Port Canaveral. That means no Miami traffic. No stress. Just drive up, park, and start your mega-ship vacation faster than ever before.

Where to Watch Disney Starlight Dream Parade
This parade is quickly becoming a fan favorite and is expected to draw big crowds throughout the year. The best place to watch a parade at Magic Kingdom is along Main Street, U.S.A., especially near the Partners Statue in front of Cinderella Castle. This spot gives you a picture-perfect backdrop of the castle behind the floats. For the most immersive experience, grab a spot on the curb about 90-120 minutes before showtime — ideally near the Emporium or Casey’s Corner, where you’ll have great visibility and easy access to snacks or a quick exit afterward. If you're looking for a slightly less crowded but still excellent view, consider watching from Liberty Square near the Hall of Presidents, where the parade route is a bit narrower and more intimate.
