If you’ve ever dreamed of experiencing Walt Disney World or Disneyland with zero stress, no long waits, and a fully customized itinerary built just for your family, a Disney VIP Tour might be the ultimate upgrade. These private tours represent the most exclusive way to see the parks, offering unparalleled access, personalized planning, and behind-the-scenes efficiency that dramatically transforms your Disney day.

But what exactly is included? What is not included? And is a Disney VIP Tour really worth the hefty price tag?

This complete guide breaks down everything you need to know—from priority access and backstage transportation to costs, limitations, perks, and insider tips—so you can decide if this premium experience is right for your next vacation.

What Is a Disney VIP Tour?

Ariels Grotto Magic Kingdom Park Fantasyland

A Disney VIP Tour is a private, customizable, guided experience available at Walt Disney World Resort. These tours give you your own VIP Tour Guide, who expertly navigates your group (up to 10 guests) through the parks with efficiency, insider knowledge, and nearly frictionless access to attractions.

A Disney VIP Tour is built on three core pillars:

  • Highly personalized planning

  • Priority attraction access

  • Exclusive logistics and shortcuts

Think of it as Disney without the waiting, the guesswork, or the stress—crafted around your ideal day.

What’s Included in a Disney VIP Tour?

A lot. In fact, more than most guests realize. Below is a detailed look at everything that is included, along with why each perk matters.

1. Your Own Personal VIP Tour Guide

The backbone of every VIP experience is your private guide, a highly trained Cast Member who stays with your group the entire time. They:

  • Handle all logistics

  • Lead you to attractions with minimal walking

  • Build and adjust your itinerary on the fly

  • Recommend experiences based on your interests

  • Focus on efficiency and reduced waiting

  • Manage the timing of rides, shows, and transportation

This guide is essentially your Disney strategist, navigating the parks with insider precision you simply can’t replicate alone.

2. Priority Access to Attractions and Character Meet-and-Greets

One of the biggest reasons guests book a VIP Tour is the ability to bypass traditional lines. While it’s not officially “front-of-the-line,” it is priority access, meaning:

  • You enter rides through Lightning Lane entrances

  • You skip long standby lines

  • You can experience more attractions in less time

  • You can visit high-demand rides multiple times

  • You can meet characters with dramatically reduced waits

This is especially valuable for popular rides like:

  • Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

  • TRON Lightcycle / Run

  • Expedition Everest

  • Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

  • Avatar Flight of Passage

A whole day of priority access means more experiences with fewer crowds.

3. Private Transportation Between Parks

VIP tours include private, backstage transportation, letting your group hop between parks quickly via Cast Member-only routes.

This eliminates:

  • Waiting for buses, skyliners, or monorails

  • Long walks between lands or exits

  • Security re-checks (you often stay behind the gates)

Backstage transport is one of the most time-saving elements of the tour. In some cases, you can be riding Space Mountain one moment and on your way to EPCOT minutes later.

4. Reserved Viewing for Parades & Nighttime Spectaculars

Normal guests camp out for 45–90 minutes to secure a viewing spot for:

  • Fireworks

  • Parades

  • Nighttime shows

  • Seasonal entertainment

VIP Tour guests get reserved viewing areas, meaning:

  • You don’t have to stake out a spot

  • You avoid crowd bottlenecks

  • You enjoy the show from optimal sightlines

This perk alone can save hours of waiting and provides a calmer, elevated viewing experience.

5. Backstage Access and Time-Saving Shortcuts

VIP guides can take you through backstage areas to save walking time and avoid congested guest pathways.

While you won’t get a full backstage “tour,” these shortcut routes mean:

  • Faster navigation around the parks

  • Reduced crowds

  • Smoother transitions between attractions

This feels incredibly exclusive and gives you a behind-the-scenes glimpse regular park guests don’t get.

6. Pre-Arrival Planning With Your Guide

Before your tour even begins, your guide (or the VIP services team) will help you:

  • Plan your must-do attractions

  • Decide which parks to visit

  • Build a schedule around your preferences

  • Create a route optimized to reduce walking

  • Incorporate shows, meals, and breaks

This planning ensures your day runs with expert-level precision—and no decision fatigue.

7. Complimentary Snacks and Beverages

Throughout the tour, Disney provides free snacks and non-alcoholic drinks, which can include:

  • Bottled water

  • Soft drinks

  • Packaged snacks

  • Light refreshments

These are small touches, but helpful when you’re constantly moving.

8. PhotoPass Benefits and VIP Tour Pins

Depending on the resort:

  • At Disneyland, VIP Tours include a Capture Your Moment photo session.

  • At both Disney World and Disneyland, guests receive VIP Tour pins, which are exclusive collectibles not available to purchase.

Your guide also works closely with PhotoPass photographers to ensure great pictures.

What’s NOT Included in a Disney VIP Tour?

Despite the premium cost, a few things are not covered by your VIP Tour fee. Knowing this helps avoid surprises.

1. Theme Park Admission and Park Hopper Tickets

Your tour cost does not include tickets. Every guest in your party must separately purchase:

Magic Kingdom Epcot Animal Kingdom Hollywood Studios
  • A valid park ticket, and

  • Park Hopper privileges (if you plan to visit multiple parks)

Without tickets, you cannot enter the parks—even with a VIP guide.

2. Meals and Dining Costs

VIP Tours do not include:

  • Sit-down meals

  • Quick-service food

  • Snacks outside the complimentary selection

  • Alcoholic beverages

While your guide can escort you to restaurants, you still:

  • Pay for your food

  • Wait in the actual food line or reservation queue

  • Follow normal dining guidelines

3. Individual Lightning Lane Purchases

Jungle Cruise Lightning Lane

You won’t need them—VIP access already lets you bypass lines for most attractions—but Disney does not actually include Individual Lightning Lane purchases within the VIP fee.

These à la carte Lightning Lane options (like TRON or Rise of the Resistance) become irrelevant, as your guide’s priority access covers them.

Who Should Consider a Disney VIP Tour?

A Disney VIP Tour is an incredible experience, but not for every guest. It’s best suited for:

Families Celebrating Milestones

Birthdays, reunions, multigenerational trips.

First-Time Visitors Who Want an Efficient Experience

Letting a guide plan the day removes confusion and crowds.

Large Groups (Up to 10 Guests)

Cost becomes more reasonable when divided across a group.

Guests Who Want to Maximize Time

See more in one day than most guests do in three.

Theme Park Enthusiasts

Completionists who want to ride everything with no stress.

Travelers with Limited Time

If you only have one or two days in the parks, VIP efficiency is unmatched.

Is a Disney VIP Tour Worth It?

The answer depends on:

  • Your budget

  • Your goals

  • Your group size

  • How much do you value time and convenience

Consider a VIP Tour “worth it” if:

  • You want to minimize waiting

  • You’re visiting during peak seasons

  • You want a tailored, stress-free day

  • You want to see all four Disney World parks in one day

  • You value exclusive access and personal attention

VIP tours consistently receive extremely high guest satisfaction because they transform a typical theme park day into an elevated, personalized experience.

Tips for Making the Most of Your Disney VIP Tour

VIP tour guides Walt Disney World Resort Florida

To maximize value:

1. Start your tour early

Earlier hours = more access, less crowds, and less heat

2. Share your priorities with your guide in advance

The more they know, the better they can plan, Vacations should be perfect.

3. Don’t waste time on attractions with short waits

Focus on high-demand rides. Tron, Tianas Bayou Adventure, Space Mountain are the ones that draw the crowds!

4. Map out your meals

Dining isn’t included—plan reservations in advance.

5. Take advantage of VIP viewing areas

They save a ton of time and give you amazing views of the shows!

6. Hydrate and use your snack perks

Normally, food and drinks are not free. Florida is also an easy place to get dehydrated, so hit them hard!

Final Thoughts: The VIP Way to Experience Disney

A Disney VIP Tour is the most exclusive, efficient, and customizable way to explore Disney World or Disneyland. It combines priority access, expert planning, reserved viewing, and private transportation into a seamless experience that elevates your entire trip.

While tickets and meals aren’t included, the value of your personal guide, minimized waiting, and backstage advantages make this the gold standard for premium Disney vacations.

Whether you’re planning a once-in-a-lifetime family celebration or simply want to see more attractions with far fewer crowds, a Disney VIP Tour delivers a level of magic and convenience you can’t find anywhere else.

Walt Disney World's Lightning Lane Multi-Pass: The Ultimate Pro-Level Strategy Guide

Don't get fooled by the basics! This LLMP guide reveals the "rolling 3 rule," the "burner" selections, how to master the "refresh game," and the best parks for saving time at WDW. Your ultimate advantage starts here.

Top 10 Lightning Lane Multi-Pass Strategies

10. 📅 Master Your Advance Booking Window

  • The Tip: Know your booking eligibility and be ready at 7:00 AM ET on your first day of eligibility (7 days before check-in for Disney Resort guests, 3 days in advance for other guests).

  • The Strategy: The most popular Tier 1 rides (like Slinky Dog Dash or Tiana's Bayou Adventure) will be gone first. Prioritize the highest-demand Tier 1 attraction for each park day and book it right at the start of your window.

9. ⏰ Prioritize Early Morning Return Times

  • The Tip: Aim for the earliest available return time for your very first selection.

  • The Strategy: Your next Lightning Lane booking is unlocked either after you use your first one, OR after a two-hour cool-down period. Getting an early morning return time means you can tap in sooner and immediately book your next ride, starting your loop for the day earlier.

8. 📱 App Prep: Designate a "Lightning Lane Master"

  • The Tip: One person in your group should be the official booking guru.

  • The Strategy: This person should have the My Disney Experience app open, logged in, all tickets/parties linked, and be familiar with the Tip Board before the trip. This prevents fumbling and ensures fast, decisive bookings for the whole group.

7. 🎯 Target High-Wait Rides and Shows

  • The Tip: Use your initial three Multi-Pass slots on attractions that consistently have long standby waits.

  • The Strategy: Don't waste a pre-selection on a show or an attraction that often has a 10-20 minute wait. Focus on rides like Peter Pan's Flight, Jungle Cruise, or any of the Tier 1 attractions to save the most time.

6. 🔄 The Immediate Re-Book Strategy

  • The Tip: As soon as you tap into a Lightning Lane entrance, open the app and book your next selection immediately.

  • The Strategy: This is how you maximize the number of rides you get per day. By booking as you tap in, you reset your eligibility right away without having to wait until you are fully off the ride. Tap in, book, and then ride!

5. 🗺️ Stack for Park Hopping

  • The Tip: If you are Park Hopping, use your initial three selections for your first park. After tapping into the first one, start "stacking" selections for your second park for the afternoon/evening.

  • The Strategy: For example, book one early ride at Magic Kingdom, and after you tap in, start booking 4 PM and 5 PM return times for rides at Epcot (your hop-to park). This ensures you have several Lightning Lane rides lined up when you arrive at your second park.

4. 💫 Utilize the Modify Feature (The Refresh Game)

  • The Tip: If you see an undesirable return time, book it anyway, then use the "Modify Plan" feature and continuously refresh the page.

  • The Strategy: Other guests are constantly canceling, and those slots instantly pop up on the modify screen. You can often change a late evening return time to a much earlier one by persistently refreshing the list for a minute or two.

3. ⚖️ Understand and Use the Tiering System

  • The Tip: In Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios, you can only book one Tier 1 ride for your initial three pre-selections.

  • The Strategy: Use that single Tier 1 spot on the ride you want most (e.g., Slinky Dog Dash or Tiana's). Then fill the other two slots with high-value Tier 2 attractions to maximize your advance bookings. (Animal Kingdom currently has no tiers).

2. 🪟 Take Advantage of Grace Periods

  • The Tip: The system allows a five-minute early arrival and a fifteen-minute late arrival grace period for your return window.

  • The Strategy: Factor these into your day. Being able to tap in up to 15 minutes late can be a lifesaver if you are running between attractions or finishing a meal. You can also use the 5-minute early window to squeeze in that next tap and immediately re-book.

1. 💰 The Individual Lightning Lane (ILL) Integration

  • The Tip: Remember that the Multi-Pass does not include the most popular rides (like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind or TRON Lightcycle / Run). These are purchased separately as Individual Lightning Lanes (ILLs).

  • The Strategy: Determine your ILL priorities before you book your Multi-Pass. Use the Multi-Pass to cover the rest of your must-do list, ensuring you ride the headliners (ILLs) and the mid-tier/high-wait rides (Multi-Pass) without waiting in long standby lines.

The Five Secrets: Why Theme Park Food Costs So Much

Theme park food pricing isn’t random—it’s driven by massive operating costs, psychological pricing systems like the Disney Dining Plan, high-value IP experiences such as Blue Milk and Butterbeer, and the ultimate force: captive-audience economics. Once you’re inside the gates, parks control the market, the margins, and the money.

$15 for a theme park burger? $6 for a bottle of water? $8 for a pretzel?  "How in the world can Disney World and Universal charge this much?" We all think it's just pure greed, but the truth is, that high price tag is actually the result of five specific, intersecting forces that are all working together the moment you open your wallet.

We’re going to break down exactly why that bottle of water costs so much, starting with the least obvious reasons and working our way to the biggest cash cow in the theme park world.

#5: The Secret Profit Engine (It's Not the Ticket)

That's where food and drinks come in.

The finance teams see food and beverage, or F&B, as the primary cash-flow generator for theme park operations.

The items with the lowest cost but highest visibility—like popcorn, pretzels, and beverages are their star players.

They have a tiny cost for the theme parks, but they can be marked up by 500% or more. This massive profit margin generated by the F&B division is essential. It’s the constant stream of cash that supports all the other expensive parts of the resort.

  1. A bottle of soda at an Orlando theme park can easily cost you $6. The cost to the park for that entire transaction—delivery, stocking it, and keeping it cold—is often less than $0.30. That massive, instant markup is repeated millions of times a year. In a world-class resort environment like Orlando, this simple item becomes one of the most reliable and high-margin transactions, a financial workhorse that drives consistent daily revenue.

  2. The standard price for a box of popcorn is usually around $8.00. The raw materials—the kernels, oil, butter flavor, and the paper container—might cost the park as little as $0.40 to $0.60. Popcorn is intentionally placed at kiosks near high-traffic areas, offering a great aroma that acts as an instant sales trigger. Walk by one in the theme parks and tI guarantee you’ll see people waiting in line for it.

Modern, immersive lands like Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge or The Wizarding World of Harry Potter cost half a billion dollars to build. That money pays for the detailed architecture, the incredible animatronics, and maybe even decade-spanning licensing agreements.

These mega-projects are usually built using huge loans. Your food and drink money is directly tasked with servicing that massive debt and giving the company a return on that colossal investment. If the parks charged the full, true cost of building and running these spectacular places up front, the daily ticket price would cost even more than it does today.

Instead, they keep the ticket price somewhat manageable and use the food markup to collect an "Immersive Environment Fee" on every single food item.

#4: Hidden Costs: The Infrastructure Tax

guardians of the galaxy outside

Think about that new, state-of-the-art coaster you just rode. It cost hundreds of millions of dollars to design, engineer, and build. But After it opens, the daily costs explode:

  • These rides require incredible amounts of power, especially the launched coasters that use Linear Synchronous Motors (LSMs). We’re talking about power requirements that rival small towns, just to get you from 0 to 60 mph in three seconds.

  • Theme parks don't just hire hourly workers. They employ electrical engineers, structural maintenance teams, specialized ride mechanics, costumed performers, and highly trained security personnel—all year-round, regardless of attendance. Every ride, every animatronic, and every themed sound system needs specialized, highly-paid labor working overnight to maintain it.

  • Between annual refurbishments and surprise shutdowns, the maintenance bill for a major ride is astronomical.

My park contacts frequently remind me: the rides are cost centers. They are the draw, the spectacle, and the reason you came, but they are a constant drain on the budget after the initial capital is spent.

These huge, non-stop, fixed costs mean that prices have to start very high before the park even sees a dollar of profit.

#3: The Profit Strategy: Speed, Simplicity, and Psychology

Popcorn cart magic kingdom

This is where the operation moves beyond simple speed and starts playing a sophisticated psychological game with your wallet. We're talking about the Disney Dining Plan. Universal, you’re off the hook on this one because you don’t offer a dining plan.

You’ve probably seen countless online discussions about whether a dining plan is "worth it."

I even have an entire video dedicated to just the dining plans!

I also wrote an article on the Disney Dining Plans if you’d prefer to read it. The pitch sounds simple and wonderful: pay one lump sum before your trip, and once you're in the park, your food feels "free" every single time you eat! It seems like a foolproof way to budget your vacation and take the stress out of constantly checking prices.

And honestly, it is mutually beneficial in some ways—it locks in your food budget and allows you to enjoy the convenience of ordering almost anything on the menu without worrying about costs adding up.

So there is decent value offered to the guest.

But the financial engine behind the plan is brilliant and ruthless.

This is where the park truly wins. The Dining Plan is priced assuming a certain level of usage, but the park knows that, on average, the guest will not fully utilize every single credit.

People get too busy sometimes to use all their credits.

Those small, unused credits across millions of guests add up to massive, pure profit known as the Unused Value Principle. T

he park secures a huge, interest-free cash flow months in advance for food it ultimately doesn't have to serve.

Lowering the Psychological Barrier

The Dining Plan is highly psychological, and as your about to discover, it’s why Disney can often give you the dining plan for free - which is a common promo we see each year.

See the dining plan removes your wallet's psychological barrier.

Since you feel like your meal is "free," you are far more likely to open your wallet to pay cash for that expensive, high-margin item that the plan doesn't cover.

  • It’s a powerful move. You’ll happily pay $15 cash for that craft beer or $25 cash for that souvenir cup because, in your mind, the burger and fries were already covered.

It’s the perfect illustration of theme park finance: they offer you a useful service (like budgeting for food) but structure it in a way that is mathematically designed to maximize high-margin cash spending on the side.

#2: Why You Pay Extra for the Blue Milk: The IP Premium

galaxys edge milk stand hollywood studios

In Orlando, you are not simply buying a beverage; you are buying into an immersive experience.

College professors call this the Experience Economy. Build-A-Bear Workshop is a prime example.

They don’t just sell you a teddy bear; you enjoy the experience of making the teddy bear - and of course, pay for all the upgrades.

When I’m in Disney’s Hollywood Studios and shell out $8 for a special blue milk in a galaxy far, far away, or Butter Beer at Hogsmeade, I'm not primarily paying for the cost of the flavoring and syrup.

I am paying for the unique IP, the sound of the X-wings flying overhead, and the ability to post a photo of a beverage that literally cannot be purchased anywhere else.

That exclusivity removes all outside price comparison.

The price is set based purely on experiential value, not on the cost of coconut milk and syrup. The park also gets you with the Specialized Packaging.

They invest heavily in unique, themed cups. That souvenir container is priced as merchandise, not as a food cost, which is a clever way for the park to get you to buy a high-margin retail item that just happens to have a beverage or popcorn inside.

You are buying the proof that you were there, and people happily pay a premium for that social currency.

#1: The Biggest Secret: The Turnstile Trap

The Pinocchio Village Haus Magic Kingdom

All of those other factors are secondary to this one fundamental economic reality: The Park Has a Monopoly.

Once you are through that turnstile, you are a captive audience.

The hassle of leaving the park—walking miles to the car, driving, finding a restaurant, parking again, and going through security to re-enter—is such a huge barrier that the cost of an overpriced meal inside becomes the better option.

Disney and Universal know this, and having already paid hundreds for admission, your pain tolerance for an extra $10 on lunch is very high.

They have eliminated all competition within the gates. Because of this, the park sets prices based entirely on guest tolerance, not on the cost of the food itself.

They constantly run tests, quietly raising prices by 30 to 50 cents at a time, to find the "sweet spot"—the highest possible price you’re willing to pay before the value breaks. And Disney and Universal are masters at this.

So be Smart with Your Spending.

Go ahead and buy that overpriced, themed snack. You're on vacation and you’re going to have a great time.

But just keep in mind you’re not just buying a Dole Whip; you’re buying into the fantasy—and the fantasy, as we've learned, wouldn't exist without that margin.

10. The Quintessential Hard-Ticket Splurge: Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party

We are kicking off our countdown with a big one, but it lands at number 10 because of its obviousness—and its price tag.

At number 10 is the quintessential holiday event: Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom.

Now, this is a hard-ticket event, meaning you need a separate, and relatively expensive, ticket just for this party, which usually takes place on select nights after Magic Kingdom closes to the general public.

While the cost is significant and requires an investment, if you are willing to splurge, this party delivers the classic, heartwarming, and utterly immersive Disney Christmas experience you’ve always dreamed of.

The party offers a lower crowd capacity than a typical park day, giving you the chance to ride some popular attractions with shorter waits, all while enjoying complimentary cookies and hot cocoa!

But the real highlights are the specialty entertainment that is exclusive to the party:

  • Mickey's Once Upon a Christmastime Parade: A spectacular procession featuring festive floats, beloved characters in their holiday finest, marching toy soldiers, and Santa Claus himself. It’s a classic Disney parade amplified by the holiday spirit.

  • Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks Show: You absolutely can’t talk about this party without mentioning this incredible spectacle. The fireworks show is choreographed perfectly to a medley of classic holiday tunes, bursting high above Cinderella Castle. The music, the lights, and the atmosphere create a truly emotional moment that is worth staying up late for.

  • Space Mountain with the Lights On (Well, Christmas Lights!): This is my absolute favorite activity—and I genuinely believe it’s worth the price of admission all by itself! While they don't turn all the lights on, the classic, pitch-black dark ride is transformed by dazzling holiday lighting and rock-and-roll Christmas music. Experiencing this iconic roller coaster with a whole new visual overlay is the best thing ever for fans of this attraction, adding a unique, high-energy twist to a Magic Kingdom staple.

If your vacation budget allows for one major holiday splurge, this party is a fantastic way to capture the spirit of a traditional Disney Christmas.

9. Figment's Festive Fashion: The Cutest Christmas Sweater

Moving on to number 9, we are keeping things focused on our beloved purple little dragon, Figment, over in World Celebration at EPCOT.

shop figment christmas sweater

The Journey Into Imagination with Figment ride is already a classic for long-time Disney fans, but during the holidays, Figment gets into the festive spirit in the most adorable way.

As you pass through the ride, you'll see him decked out in his best, brightly-colored Christmas sweater! It's a small detail, but the dedicated fanbase of Epcot loves this little bit of seasonal whimsy.

It’s a perfect example of how Disney injects holiday cheer into even the smallest corners of the park.

And here’s a fun little secret I can share with you all: because of the sheer popularity of this small detail, Disney has finally released a merchandise item we were all waiting for—you can purchase a replica of Figment’s festive Christmas sweater!

This piece of holiday apparel has been flying off the shelves and makes for the perfect, slightly niche, and super-cute holiday souvenir.

You can find this must-have sweater and other Figment-themed holiday gear in various locations around Epcot, including the newly opened Communicore Hall, for around $79. It's the ideal way to carry a piece of EPCOT's Imagination with you all season long.

8. The FREE Treat Challenge: The Essential EPCOT Holiday Stroll

Now, while we’re here in EPCOT, let’s move over to an all-day experience that combines culture, food, and fun, and is completely free with your park admission!

At number 8, we have the incredibly immersive and delicious Essential EPCOT Holiday Stroll! This activity is actually two great holiday experiences rolled into one, making for the perfect mid-day break and an educational, heartwarming experience.

The Holiday Storytellers (Culture and Charm)

First, you have the Holiday Storytellers around World Showcase. As you stroll from country to country, you encounter characters and narrators who share the unique holiday traditions and folklore of their native lands.

For example, you might meet Julenissen, the mischievous gnome in Norway; Pere Noel in France, who shares the children's custom of putting shoes out for gifts; or the legendary Christmas donkey, Burro Nativity, in Mexico.

It’s a genuinely educational, heartwarming, and completely unique way to travel the world and learn about global Christmas customs.

The storytellers' appearances are all timed, so you can easily plan your day to go from one cultural celebration to the next without waiting too long. This unique programming really sets EPCOT apart during the holiday season.

The Holiday Cookie Stroll (Food and Fun)

And it’s Epcot, so you can’t stroll without snacks! This brings us to the popular and hugely enjoyable Holiday Cookie Stroll!

This is one of the best holiday food challenges at Disney, and it’s a fun, engaging activity for both adults and kids.

To start, you pick up your complimentary Festival Passport at various locations around World Showcase. This passport has a dedicated page for the Cookie Stroll.

As you purchase and enjoy five designated cookies from the holiday kitchens (outdoor food booths) around the park, a Cast Member gives you a stamp in your passport.

Once you have at least five stamps, you head to the last stop for your complimentary, commemorative prize!

It’s a delicious souvenir, and I have to admit, I haven’t quite finished my stroll yet—it’s tough to stop when Epcot has so many great treats, cookies, pastries, and even this amazing frozen hot chocolate that we picked up at the Odyssey pavilion.

Look out for the cookies shaped like Disney icons, especially the one inspired by Spaceship Earth! This activity is a must-do for foodies and collectors alike.

7. The Overlooked Tradition: The Ultimate Disney Resort Tour

Now, we’re going to step outside of the parks for a bit and check out one of the most beautiful and often underrated holiday traditions: a walk through Disney’s best-decorated resorts!

Coming in at lucky number 7, we have the holiday tradition that doesn't even require a park ticket: The Ultimate Disney Resort Tour!

You absolutely have to carve out a morning or an evening to hop around to a few of the Disney Deluxe Resorts. The resorts' holiday decorations are often even more spectacular than the parks themselves, as they have the space for massive, custom-themed displays.

The Magic Kingdom Loop Resorts

Let's start with my absolute favorite for atmosphere: Wilderness Lodge. Walking into that massive, rustic lobby with the enormous stone fireplace is magical enough, but when you add the towering, 60-foot Christmas tree—adorned with Native American and rustic ornaments—it takes your breath away.

The air smells of pine and woodsmoke, and it truly feels like a cozy mountain Christmas. Don't forget to check out the holiday pop-up shop for resort-exclusive merch!

christmas tree at the grand floridian resort in 2025

Next, head over to the stately Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Every year, the massive, classic tree in the center is the main attraction, draped in Victorian elegance.

While the iconic, life-size Gingerbread House may sometimes be absent or replaced by other spectacular creations due to refurbishments or new concepts, the sheer scale and beauty of the lobby and its festive adornments remain a timeless classic.

The recent lobby and bar refurbishments only enhance the luxurious holiday experience.

The EPCOT Area Resorts

Then, we switch gears and head over to the EPCOT-area resorts, which offer completely different, yet equally charming, holiday displays along the famous Boardwalk area.

At the Beach Club Resort, you are greeted by the magnificent Christmas Carousel, built entirely of gingerbread and chocolate.

The craftsmanship is unbelievable. It's colorful, detailed, and hard to believe that it’s entirely edible, often featuring favorite Disney characters like the Fab Five in their festive best.

Right next door, the Yacht Club Resort offers a more subdued, maritime-themed display, which features a detailed, miniature Christmas Village and Train Set that winds through a winter landscape. The detail on the tiny buildings and the moving train is mesmerizing, and I could seriously watch it for hours.

This resort hop is the perfect way to soak in the atmosphere, escape the park crowds for a few hours, and take some incredible photos.

The best way to see it all is to use ride-sharing services like Uber or MinnieVan for maximum efficiency.

6. Seeking the Bride: The Disney Springs Christmas Tree Stroll

Now that we’ve toured the luxurious resorts, let’s go find the most concentrated, character-themed collection of holiday trees outside of the parks!

Sliding in at number 6 is an activity that has become a genuine highlight for me: The Disney Springs Christmas Tree Stroll for 2025!

This isn't just a handful of trees; it's an entire collection of gorgeous, meticulously themed Christmas trees that celebrate everything Disney.

It’s totally free to experience and is the perfect way to spend an evening exploring the outdoor shopping and dining district of Disney Springs.

You can grab a complimentary Stroll Map or Passport at guest services or many of the retail locations. This passport guides you through the entire area.

Each tree is themed to a different Disney movie, park, or character, and trying to spot all the hidden details and ornaments is half the fun!

But you want to know my absolute, hands-down favorite every single year? It's the Haunted Mansion Tree!

The bride from the attic scene is the creepy and beautiful focal point, complete with her red beating heart—a chilling reference to the original bride.

The garlands look like tattered funeral lace, and there’s always a sly little nod to the infamous Master Gracey somewhere in the branches. It’s dark, it’s funny, and it perfectly captures the spirit of the attraction in a festive way.

Here’s how the Stroll works: As you move from tree to tree, you look for a designated number or symbol, and then you match that to a sticker or stamp location on your passport.

When you collect all of the stickers and complete the entire stroll, you can present your finished passport at a designated location, usually Guest Relations, to receive a small, commemorative prize, often a special holiday-themed pin or a unique postcard.

It’s a fantastic, low-key way to spend an evening and get some amazing, non-park photos.

5. The Hunt for Holiday Exclusives: Disney Springs Christmas Shopping

Plus, when you finish the Stroll, you’re already right there for some world-class shopping, which brings us perfectly to our next must-do!

christmas merch for sale at disney world: sweatshirt and stanley mugs

Landing in the middle of our list at number 5, it's time to talk about the holiday shopping—specifically at Disney Springs. This area is your best bet for finding the largest collection of Disney-themed holiday merchandise.

The two main hubs for all things Disney Christmas are World of Disney at Disney Springs and the always-enchanting Disney's Days of Christmas store (which is open year-round but gets a huge holiday shipment). In these stores, you’ll find everything a Disney fanatic could want:

  • Ornaments: Beautifully detailed and often highly collectible ornaments featuring everything from classic characters to specific attractions.

  • Apparel: Holiday-themed Spirit Jerseys, annual collection of dated holiday apparel (tees, hoodies, etc.), and festive loungewear.

  • Housewares: Festive mugs, cookie jars, kitchen towels, and holiday-themed plush toys.

But let’s talk about the secret shopping locations that are often overlooked: EPCOT World Showcase! If you are looking for unique gifts that have a distinctive, international flair, look no further.

Countries like Germany (for ornaments and cuckoo clocks), Japan (for unique stationary and trinkets), and France (for gourmet chocolate and perfumes) offer items you cannot find anywhere else on property.

It’s the perfect place to find a gift that feels both luxurious and completely one-of-a-kind.

4. Indoor Snowfall: The Hollywood Studios Frozen Finale

We are officially in the top half of our list and moving to a guaranteed crowd-pleaser that is included with your park admission!

At number 4, we are making our way to Disney's Hollywood Studios for a chilly, heartwarming surprise: A Chilly Holiday Finale at the 'For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration.'

This show is a popular attraction year-round, where the Royal Historians of Arendelle retell the story of Frozen with clips from the movie and encourage the audience to sing along to the classic songs.

But during the holiday season, the entire show gets a wonderful dose of festive cheer!

The biggest change, and the reason it makes this list, is the special holiday finale! After the last note of 'Let It Go,' the stage transforms.

The royal historians come out in their adorable holiday attire, there are special seasonal jokes added to the script, and the whole presentation gets a heartwarming Christmas twist.

At the very end, as you are singing and celebrating, it snows inside the theater! Seeing the “snoap” (soap snow) fall down around you is such a magical, memorable moment, and it perfectly encapsulates the feeling of a Disney Christmas.

It’s a great, seated activity for the whole family, a fun way to get off your feet, and an essential part of the Hollywood Studios holiday experience.

3. Chaotic Cheer: The Magic Kingdom Jingle Cruise

From a chilly stage in Hollywood Studios, we are now going to zip over to the Magic Kingdom to check out a ride overlay that brings both tropical humor and holiday mayhem to the jungle!

Climbing up to number 3 on our list, we are back at Magic Kingdom for a transformation that is equal parts charming and hilariously punny: The Jingle Cruise!

This is the holiday overlay of the classic Jungle Cruise attraction in Adventureland, and I cannot stress enough how much I love this seasonal takeover.

The Jungle Cruise skippers—who are already experts in delivering groan-worthy puns—crank the holiday cheer, and the jokes, up to eleven.

The narration is completely updated with seasonal references, holiday puns about fruitcake and sleigh rides, and running jokes about the skippers’ dysfunctional holiday parties back at the boathouse. Hearing the famously dry humor applied to Christmas traditions is a true highlight for returning guests.

But it's not just the narration; the entire ride gets a chaotic holiday makeover. The boats are renamed with festive monikers, and the jungle scenes themselves are awkwardly, wonderfully decorated.

Lots of hidden detail, too, for those who look for it—Cast Members spend weeks decorating the scenes with half-wrapped gifts, misplaced reindeer, and even the occasional jungle critter caught up in a strand of lights. This lovable, slightly messy holiday aesthetic is what makes the Jingle Cruise a must-do every year.

2. The Hidden Gem: Winter-Summer-Land MiniGolf

Now, as we leave the chaos of the jungle, we are going to head off-property for one of my favorite, most overlooked activities.

It's the perfect way to spend a warm Florida evening and save a little money!

We are almost at the top of the list! Coming in strong at number 2 is the often-overlooked but absolutely delightful Winter-Summer-Land MiniGolf!

This isn't just any miniature golf course; it is an entirely Christmas-themed experience and a perfect, low-cost way to spend a relaxed evening when the parks are super crowded. Crucially, Disney mini-golf is often cheaper than the off-site, tourist-trap locations.

Disney is rarely cheaper on anything, so take advantage while you can!

This mini-golf spot is located right near the Blizzard Beach Water Park. There are actually two distinct 18-hole courses—the "Winter" course and the "Summer" course—both themed around Santa's off-season summer home, where his elves vacation.

One side is covered in "snow" and icicles, and the other is decked out with beach chairs, flamingos, and holiday decorations.

I highly recommend visiting in the evening, after sunset. The course is fully lit up with holiday lights, festive music is playing over the speakers, and it just feels like you’ve been transported into a little Christmas village. I know the temptation is always to rush to the next park, but trust me, carving out time for this often-forgotten gem is totally worth it.

Just note that getting there is a pain if you don’t have a car, so be prepared to use a ride-sharing service like Uber or MiniVan.

1. The Undisputed Champion: Living with the Land – Glimmering Greenhouses

And now, we've made it!

We are at the number one spot on my list—the absolute, non-negotiable, most magical thing you must do at Walt Disney World this holiday season!

The number 1 best way to celebrate the holidays at Walt Disney World is the incredible, beautiful, must-see, Living with the Land – Glimmering Greenhouses at EPCOT!

A slow-moving boat ride through a working greenhouse? Yes! But believe me, this is becoming everyone’s favorite holiday attraction, and for good reason. It is the definition of understated, unique Disney magic.

You have to ride this attraction at night, when the greenhouses are completely dark. The entire interior of the facility transforms into a mesmerizing tapestry of colorful Christmas lights.

The lights are strung not only around the structure but onto the actual plants and produce! Seeing a string of lights wrapped around a giant zucchini, or a tiny reindeer decoration tucked amongst a bed of lettuce, is just unbelievably charming and inventive.

Yes, the line gets long, sometimes up to an hour, but it moves fast! The boats are constantly loading, and I promise you, it is worth every minute of the wait.

This is my number one because of the level of attention to detail and care the Cast Members put into it. You’ll notice hidden references to EPCOT's history, clever humor in the way the lights are strung, and adorable themed decorations that are unique to each section.

It offers a warmth and uniqueness that the bigger, flashier spectacles sometimes lack.

It truly is the coziest, most unique holiday attraction Disney World has ever created. It is my favorite, and I know you’re going to love it too.

Final Holiday Planning Tips & Call to Action

Visiting Anakeesta & Dollywood at Christmas: My Complete Guide + Hotel Tips from Pigeon Forge

I left Orlando behind and headed to the Smoky Mountains to experience Dollywood Christmas and Anakeesta in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. From the Anakeesta Mountain Coaster and Astra Lumina to the iconic Dollywood Christmas train ride, this first-person guide shares real tips, crowd strategies, and hotel advice from my stay at Tru by Hilton Pigeon Forge.

After years of spending the holidays in Orlando theme parks, I decided I wanted something completely different for Christmas—crisp mountain air instead of humid Florida nights, small-town charm instead of mega crowds, and holiday lights wrapped around real trees instead of palm trees. So this year, I packed up the car and drove 700 miles north to experience Gatlinburg Tennessee, Anakeesta Mountain, and Dollywood Christmas firsthand.

The Tap House at the the top of Anakeesta Mountain.

And I’ll be honest—I didn’t expect this trip to challenge my loyalty to Orlando as my favorite holiday destination. But it did.

In this guide, I’m sharing everything I learned about visiting Anakeesta Gatlinburg TN and Dollywood at Christmas, plus a full breakdown of the hotel I stayed at—Tru by Hilton Pigeon Forge. If you're planning a Christmas trip to the Smoky Mountains, this article will help you avoid mistakes, manage crowds, and get the most out of your time.

And if you’d like to see the full experience unfold visually—including Astra Lumina, the Anakeesta Mountain Coaster, and the Dollywood Christmas Train Ride—you can watch my full video here:

The Drive from Orlando to Gatlinburg: What to Expect

Driving from Orlando to the Smoky Mountains is no small commitment. It’s roughly 700 miles and about 12 hours, depending on traffic and stops. I left before sunrise while most of Orlando was still asleep, trading palm trees for pine trees and Florida humidity for cool mountain air.

One of the unexpected highlights of the drive? Buc-ee’s. Not once—but twice. These massive travel centers break up the drive perfectly, offer some of the cleanest restrooms on the road, and surprisingly cheap gas. For families, this alone makes the long drive feel manageable.

Once you hit Atlanta, traffic slows significantly. After that, the drive becomes mountainous and scenic. By the time I reached Pigeon Forge, it was dark, cold, and completely worth it.

Where I Stayed: Tru by Hilton Pigeon Forge (Full Hotel Review)

For this trip, I stayed at the Tru by Hilton Pigeon Forge, and for families looking for a clean, modern, budget-friendly hotel during Christmas, I genuinely recommend it.

exteror of the tru by hilton hotel near dollywood

Tru by Hilton Hotel in Pigeon Forge is one of the better options in the area. It’s new, clean, modern and has a complimentary breakfast.

✅ What I Loved

  • Modern, bright lobby with an open, casual feel

  • Family-friendly atmosphere

  • Indoor pool (great after a long park day)

  • Free breakfast

  • Excellent location close to Gatlinburg and Dollywood

  • I booked entirely with Hilton points, which made it an incredible value

The room itself was simple but comfortable—two queen beds, strong water pressure in the shower, and everything felt new and well-maintained. The only downside? No drawers. Everything stays on open shelving, which is fine for short stays but not ideal for longer trips.

Tip:

If you’re visiting Dollywood Christmas and Anakeesta during peak season, booking early is critical. Holiday weeks fill fast in Pigeon Forge.

Day 2: Exploring Gatlinburg & Anakeesta Mountain at Christmas

Waking up to 55-degree mountain air instead of Orlando humidity instantly made the trip feel different. After grabbing coffee, I drove into Gatlinburg Tennessee, which transforms into a full Christmas village during the holidays.

Pancake Pantry: A Gatlinburg Tradition

If you go to Gatlinburg, you will see the line for Pancake Pantry—and yes, it’s worth it. Expect a 45-minute wait, especially during Christmas week. The pancakes are legendary, the interior feels frozen in time, and Dolly Parton has eaten here—which feels like the ultimate endorsement.

Anakeesta Gatlinburg TN: How to Do It Right at Christmas

By late morning, I arrived at Anakeesta Mountain, one of the biggest attractions in Gatlinburg. Here’s what you need to know before visiting:

Getting to the Top

You have three ways up the mountain:

  • Chairlift (most scenic)

  • Gondola (enclosed & warmer)

  • Ridge Rambler truck (bumpy but fun)

chairlift at anakeesta mountain in gatlinburg

I chose the chairlift on the way up for the views—and it was absolutely the right call. Floating above Gatlinburg with Christmas decorations below feels like something out of a movie.

Treetop Skywalk: A Must-Do

treetop skywalk anakeesta mountain

Treetop Skywalk

This is the longest tree-based skywalk in North America, and walking across the suspension bridges during Christmas, surrounded by bare trees and evergreens, is one of the most underrated experiences in Gatlinburg. It’s peaceful, scenic, and completely unique compared to anything in Orlando.

Anakeesta Mountain Coaster (Hellbender): Day vs Night

The Anakeesta Mountain Coaster, also known as Hellbender, is not included with admission—but it’s worth every dollar.

going down anakeesta mountain on hellbender mountain coaster

Hellbender Mountain Coaster

  • Cost: About $15 per person for two rides

  • Daytime Ride: Scenic, fast, smooth

  • Night Ride: Completely different experience with lights and mountain darkness

Tip:

Ride once during the day and save the second ride for night. The contrast makes it feel like two totally different attractions.

Vista Gardens & Observation Tower

Observation Tower over Vista Gardens

Vista Gardens wraps around the mountain with winding paths, sculptures, and overlook points. If you have the energy, climb the observation tower. The views stretch across layers of mountains and valleys—this alone makes Anakeesta worth the visit.

Anakeesta Christmas at Night & Astra Lumina

This is where Anakeesta fully transforms.

When night falls, the entire village lights up. Firepits glow, shops twinkle with warm white lights, and holiday music fills the air. It is stunning.

Astra Lumina at Anakeesta

Astra Lumina is an additional upcharge experience and requires a reservation. It’s a laser-based, celestial-themed night trail that winds through the forest using projections, lighting effects, and sound design.

  • Cost: About $18 per person

  • Walk time: Roughly 30–40 minutes

  • Experience level: Fully immersive, artistic, unique

Is it beautiful? Yes.
Do I think it should be included with general admission? Also yes.

Still—it’s unlike anything you’ll find in Orlando theme parks and very worth doing at least once.

Anakeesta lit up for christmas

Day 3: Dollywood Christmas — What You Need to Know

This was the day I had been waiting for.

the palace theater at the entrance to Dollywood

Unlike most Orlando parks, Dollywood opens later—typically at 11am—and stays open late during Christmas. This gives you a slow, relaxed morning.

Cinnamon Bread Hack at DreamMore Resort

Here’s a secret most first-time visitors don’t know:

👉 You can buy Dollywood’s famous cinnamon bread at the DreamMore Resort without a park ticket.

I grabbed a loaf, sat by the fireplace, and started the day in the most Dollywood way possible.

Arriving at Dollywood: Holiday Crowds Are No Joke

Traffic into Dollywood during Christmas is heavy. This is not the time to show up at opening and expect quick entry.

My Biggest Dollywood Christmas Tip:

Arrive at least one hour before opening.

I didn’t—and paid for it with long parking delays.

Is the TimeSaver Plus Pass Worth It at Christmas?

Short answer: Yes. Absolutely. No question.

During Christmas week:

  • Standby waits hit 120–160 minutes

  • Even with TimeSaver Plus, waits hovered around 45 minutes

Without it, I would’ve missed half the park.

The Dollywood Christmas Train Ride: What to Expect

The Dollywood Express steam train is one of the most iconic experiences in the park—and during Christmas, it becomes even more popular.

Dollywood Railroad train ride

Riding the Dollywood Express

Important things to know:

  • The train only departs on the hour

  • You should line up 60 minutes early

  • It is a real coal-burning steam engine

  • You will get soot in the air (wear glasses)

Despite all that—it remains one of the best attractions at Dollywood and well worth the time investment.

Rides I Did at Dollywood During Christmas

Even with holiday crowds, I rode:

  • Lightning Rod

  • Wild Eagle

  • Barnstormer

Lightning Rod approaching the lift hill at Dollywood

Lightning Rod Coaster

Movement through the park is slow during Christmas due to foot traffic alone. Crowds funnel tightly through themed areas, so patience is required.

The Dolly Experience: Unexpected Highlight

One of the biggest surprises of the day was The Dolly Experience, which showcases Dolly Parton’s entire life and career.

outside the dolly experience

If you’ve ever seen Walt Disney: One Man’s Dream at Hollywood Studios, this feels very similar in tone and storytelling. It’s beautifully done, moving, and the perfect place to rest your feet while still feeling productive.

Should You Do Dollywood at Christmas in One Day?

Honestly?

👉 No.

If you can, plan two days for Dollywood Christmas if you're visiting during Thanksgiving week through Christmas week. The crowds are simply too heavy to do everything comfortably in one day—even with TimeSaver Plus.

Is Dollywood Christmas Better Than Orlando?

This is the question everyone asks me now.

Here’s the honest answer:

  • Orlando offers scale

  • Dollywood offers soul

Dollywood Christmas feels handmade. Personal. Traditional. It’s not about projections and IP—it’s about lights, music, mountains, and warmth. And sometimes, that wins.

Christmas trees at Dollywood at night

Final Thoughts & Who This Trip Is Best For

This trip is perfect for:

  • Families wanting a true Christmas destination

  • Theme park fans wanting something outside Orlando

  • Couples looking for a cozy, festive getaway

TIPS FOR RENTING A CAR IN ORLANDO

How to save money on car rentals in Orlando. Driving directions to Walt Disney World from the Orlando International. How to handle tolls in Florida with a rental car.

Orlando International Airport is home to the largest rental car market in the world. Renting a car at the airport is often cheaper than renting from an off-airport location.

Rates are highly competitive compared to other cities, so you definitely want to shop around.

A good price for a standard car is about $50 to $80 per day, but you might be able to do even better.

Car rental counters are all on one level at Orlando International Airport

Car rental counters are all on one level at Orlando International Airport

Renting a car saves time getting around Walt Disney World.

Disney transportation is a reliable way to get around Disney, but think of it as public transportation: it will get you there, just not as fast as your own car.

Renting a car also allows you to go between hotels, something Disney transport does not offer.

Often, guests need to travel between hotels for dining reservations.

Tip! Book your rental car several weeks in advance, but check back often, especially 5 weeks before your arrival.

Fare wars are common among rental companies at Orlando International, but they can actually increase too, like when a convention comes to town or if it's a holiday weekend.

Avoid pre-pay discounts; if rates go down, you won't be able to rebook!

RENTAL CARS AND FLORIDA TOLLS

Most major rental car companies now offer their customers the option of automatically billing tolls to the credit card they used to rent the vehicle.

See my article on How to Pay Tolls in Orlando

GETTING TO DISNEY FROM ORLANDO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

There are two main routes you can take: Route 417 or I-4. Avoid I-4; the stretch between the airport and the theme parks is always heavily congested. But 417 has a few tolls.

To take 417, follow the signs for the South Exit of the airport. Then, simply stay on 417 to either exit 6 or 3, depending on where your hotel is located.

Signs on 417 will tell you which exit to take based on the theme park and/or resort hotel.

Walt Disney World is about 20 minutes from Orlando International.

When going back to the airport, follow the signs in Walt Disney World for Osceola Parkway.

Once on the parkway, follow the signs to Route 417 towards the airport. If you follow the airport signs in Walt Disney World, most of them will take you on I-4, which you want to avoid.

WHERE TO RENT YOUR VEHICLE

Orlando International Airport

When flying into Orlando International Airport (MCO), you'll find multiple car rental options conveniently located inside the airport. The major rental car companies have counters and vehicle pick-up locations directly in the parking garages, eliminating the need for shuttle transfers. This setup allows for a smoother and quicker rental experience compared to off-site locations.

To save time, it’s highly recommended to complete the online check-in before you arrive. Many companies offer skip-the-counter features, enabling you to head straight to your vehicle without waiting in potentially long lines at the rental counters—especially during peak travel periods.

For those looking for different rental options, several companies operate off-site with shuttle service from the airport. While these might be less convenient due to shuttle wait times, they can sometimes offer competitive pricing or specialized vehicles not available onsite.

One company in particular is not recommended. SIXT in Orlando While SIXT has multiple rental locations throughout Orlando, many readers have shared their negative experiences. SIXT reached out to me to include them in my article, but I after having a negative experience with them myself, I am unable to recommend them.

Alamo Rent A Car has an Office on Disney World Property

On Disney property, the official rental car companies are Enterprise, Alamo, and National, all of which are conveniently located in the Walt Disney World Car Care Center. These brands are owned by Enterprise Holdings and provide a wide range of vehicle options to suit different travel needs. Enterprise operates shuttle services that transport guests directly to and from all Walt Disney World resort hotels, making the rental process seamless and convenient for visitors staying on property. This central location and dedicated shuttle service simplify car rentals for guests who want the flexibility of driving themselves during their Disney vacation.

AVIS

For visitors seeking the convenience of picking up an Avis rental car right on Walt Disney World Resort property, there are a couple of excellent options located near the Disney Springs area. You can find an Avis desk located inside the Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista at 1751 Hotel Plaza Boulevard. Additionally, there is a location inside the Signia by Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek at 14100 Bonnet Creek Resort Lane. Both locations are convenient for guests staying at surrounding resorts and offer the flexibility to secure a vehicle without leaving the Walt Disney World vicinity, making it easy to access off-property attractions or simply have a car on hand for the duration of your stay.

BEST WAYS TO BOOK

Booking Direct

This option usually costs more than if you book through a third-party, but unless you have credit card points or other perks to use, this could be a good option.

Alamo has recently reduced the number of online offer codes, opting to post discounts on its Alamo Insiders Club website. Membership in the Alamo Insiders Club is free.

Travel Websites

Booking your Orlando rental car through an Online Travel Agency (OTA) like Expedia or Kayak offers significant benefits, primarily by streamlining the price comparison process. These sites act as powerful aggregators, allowing you to view and compare rates, vehicle classes, and policies from dozens of different rental companies—including major brands like Avis and Enterprise, as well as smaller local operators—all on one screen, saving substantial time and effort. Furthermore, OTAs often secure bulk or special promotional rates that can be cheaper than booking directly, especially if you are looking to bundle your car with a flight or hotel reservation, which frequently unlocks additional package discounts. Many travelers also appreciate the convenience of managing their entire trip—from airfare to accommodation to the rental car—through a single booking platform and confirmation email.

Costco Wholesale

Costco Wholesale has consistently offered some of the best rental car rates in Orlando.

They contract exclusively with Alamo, Avis, Enterprise, and Budget. Costco's rates usually beat special offers found on the rental agency's official website and the travel websites like Expedia.

A Costco membership starts at $55, but you don't need to be a member to view rates.

If you're not a member, check to see how much you'd save; the savings might actually pay for your membership.

10 Best Places for Thanksgiving Dinner in Orlando (That Aren’t Disney World)

This year, skip the theme park rush and discover Orlando’s best Thanksgiving dinners beyond Disney and Universal. From elegant resort buffets to cozy local gems, here’s where to enjoy a true holiday feast in the City Beautiful.

If you’re heading to Orlando this Thanksgiving, chances are you’ve already mapped out a few theme park days — maybe Magic Kingdom to see the Christmas decorations, or Islands of Adventure for a few laps on Hagrid’s. But when Thanksgiving Day rolls around, here’s a little advice from someone who’s spent many holidays in and around the parks:

Don’t eat your Thanksgiving dinner at Disney World.

Now, before you reach for your turkey leg, hear me out. I’ve done it — and while Disney does a lot of things well, Thanksgiving dinner isn’t one of them.

The Disney Thanksgiving Reality Check

A few years ago, my family and I decided to have Thanksgiving dinner at the Grand Floridian Café, a restaurant that’s usually reliable for a decent sit-down meal, before a park day. I sat down, placed my order, and — I kid you not — our server returned three minutes later with a plate of turkey, mashed potatoes, and stuffing.

Three minutes.

Everything looked fine, and it even tasted okay. But it was clearly pre-made, plated in the back, and waiting for guests just like me. We were in and out in under 30 minutes. The entire Thanksgiving meal — appetizer, main course, dessert — was over before we even finished saying what they’re thankful for.

That’s not Thanksgiving. That’s theme park efficiency.

So this year, if you’re in Orlando for the holidays, step outside the resort bubble. There’s an entire city of incredible restaurants and hotel buffets that take their time, roast their turkeys properly, and let you actually savor the day.

Here are my picks for the 10 best places to have Thanksgiving dinner in Orlando, whether you’re staying near Disney, Universal, or somewhere in between.

1. Rosen Plaza Hotel — International Drive’s Holiday Classic

If Thanksgiving had a home base in Orlando, it would be the Rosen Plaza Hotel. Every year, they host an extravagant Thanksgiving buffet that feels like the old-school holiday spreads you remember as a kid — roast turkey, honey-glazed ham, mashed potatoes, cornbread stuffing, green beans, and a dessert table that could double as a small theme park attraction.

It’s big, it’s festive, and it’s one of the best family-friendly options in town. The atmosphere is relaxed, and the staff genuinely make you feel like you’re part of the celebration. If you’re staying on International Drive or near Universal, it’s a perfect way to trade crowds for comfort.

Why go: A classic Thanksgiving buffet with all the trimmings.

2. Rosen Centre Hotel — The Ultimate Buffet Upgrade

Just down the road, the Rosen Centre Hotel hosts its own Thanksgiving celebration at Café Osceola, and it’s just as impressive. You’ll find traditional favorites like turkey and stuffing, but the buffet adds in international flavors — peel-and-eat shrimp, pasta stations, carved prime rib, and an enormous selection of desserts.

The Rosen Centre tends to draw a slightly more upscale crowd than the Plaza, but both are equally warm and inviting. If your group includes a mix of adventurous eaters and traditionalists, this one hits the sweet spot.

Why go: Variety — everything from classic turkey to seafood to prime rib.

Thanksgiving Brunch at Café Gauguin

3. Waldorf Astoria Orlando — A Feast Fit for a Resort King

If you still want to keep things elegant and within striking distance of Disney property, the Waldorf Astoria Orlando is the way to do it. You’ll find three distinct Thanksgiving experiences here:

  • Bull & Bear offers a four-course fine dining Thanksgiving dinner — think truffle-laced mashed potatoes and roasted turkey roulade. This dining experience includes an extensive, traditional holiday meal with all the trimmings. $120 per adult; $60 per child 12 years of age and younger. Tax and gratuity are additional. View the menu here.

  • Oscar’s Brasserie hosts a full holiday buffet with an enormous carving station and seafood spread. $80 per adult, $40 per child 6-12 years of age. Tax and gratuity are additional. Reservations are required: 407-597-5483. View the menu here.

  • Harvest Bistro serves a slightly more casual buffet for families. $68 per person and $34 per child 6-12 years of age. Tax and gratuity are additional. View the menu here.

It’s luxurious, quiet, and feels miles away from the chaos of the parks.

Why go: The most elegant holiday dining near Disney without being too Disney.

4. The Boheme — Downtown Orlando’s Classy Holiday Dinner

Downtown Orlando’s Grand Bohemian Hotel is home to The Boheme, one of the city’s most stylish restaurants. For Thanksgiving, they typically offer both a brunch buffet and a prix fixe dinner menu with elevated takes on the classics.

If your ideal Thanksgiving includes live jazz, champagne, and art-covered walls, this is your spot. The downtown setting is also great if you want to stroll Lake Eola afterward and enjoy the city lights instead of Main Street crowds.

Why go: Chic, artsy vibe and incredible food — great for couples or smaller groups.

5. Canvas Restaurant + Market — A Local Gem in Lake Nona

Far from the tourist zones of I-Drive and Disney, Canvas is one of Orlando’s best-kept secrets. Each year, they roll out a special Thanksgiving menu alongside their regular offerings. Expect farm-to-table flavors, roasted turkey, and sides with a creative twist — things like maple-glazed carrots and house-made cranberry chutney.

The atmosphere feels more like a neighborhood gathering than a hotel buffet, which makes it ideal for visitors who want to experience a real Orlando Thanksgiving.

Why go: Local charm, chef-driven food, and scenic lakeside views.

View Menu here.

6. Chroma Modern Bar + Kitchen — Creative, Seasonal, and Modern

Also in Lake Nona, Chroma Modern Bar + Kitchen is the kind of place where the menu changes with the seasons — and Thanksgiving gives their chefs a perfect excuse to show off.

You might find butternut squash soup with cinnamon crème fraîche, roasted turkey breast with sage gravy, or pumpkin mousse for dessert. Everything is modern, balanced, and plated beautifully.

If you’re the type who likes Thanksgiving with a contemporary flair (and a craft cocktail in hand), this is where you’ll want to be.

Why go: Modern menu, creative cocktails, and a stylish atmosphere.

View menu here.

7. Café Tu Tu Tango — Thanksgiving with a Twist

If you’re looking for something more lively and less formal, Café Tu Tu Tango on International Drive throws one of the most fun Thanksgiving brunches in town.

Their “Thanksgiving Bottomless Brunch” includes carving stations, tapas-style plates, and endless mimosas. There’s live art, upbeat music, and a festive energy that makes it feel more like a celebration than a traditional sit-down meal.

It’s not your grandmother’s Thanksgiving — and that’s exactly what makes it great.

Why go: Fun, festive, and perfect for groups of friends or adults traveling without kids.

View menu here.

8. Caribe Royale — The Venetian Chop House’s Chef-Driven Holiday Dinner

Inside the Caribe Royale resort, The Venetian Chop House offers a refined, multi-course Thanksgiving dinner that blends classic flavors with steakhouse quality. You’ll find things like pumpkin bisque, roasted turkey with herb gravy, and even filet mignon for those who want something a bit different.

The resort atmosphere adds a touch of elegance without feeling pretentious. It’s a fantastic choice for families who want a mix of tradition and sophistication. $78 for adults, $25 for ages 10 and under.

Why go: Elevated Thanksgiving dinner with excellent service and atmosphere.

View menu here.

9. Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse — For the Turkey-Averse

If turkey just isn’t your thing, or you’d rather swap stuffing for steak, Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse offers the perfect escape from tradition. They stay open on Thanksgiving and add holiday specials to their regular menu, so you can order a beautifully seared filet mignon and still enjoy a slice of pumpkin cheesecake at the end.

The dining room feels elegant but comfortable, and the service is as polished as you’d expect from one of Orlando’s top steakhouses.

Why go: A Thanksgiving feast for people who’d rather celebrate with steak and wine.

View menu here.

10. Seasons 52 — A Reliable, Cozy Favorite

Rounding out the list is Seasons 52 in the Dr. Phillips area, near Sand Lake Road’s “Restaurant Row.” Every year, they serve a prix fixe Thanksgiving menu alongside their regular seasonal dishes, complete with roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and pumpkin pie.

It’s upscale but approachable — a great balance between the grandeur of the resorts and the energy of the parks. You can dress up a little or keep it casual, and the service is always attentive.

Why go: Consistent quality and a cozy, holiday atmosphere.

Why You Should Dine Outside the Parks

Here’s the thing about Thanksgiving at Disney World or Universal: it’s convenient, but not memorable. The food often comes pre-made, plated in bulk, and served lightning fast to turn tables for the next wave of guests.

Outside the parks, restaurants take the time to craft meals that feel like Thanksgiving should — warm, unhurried, and personal. You’ll find actual carving stations, family-style service, and desserts that taste homemade rather than prepackaged.

You can sit, relax, and actually have a conversation that lasts longer than your meal.

And perhaps most importantly, when you dine in the real Orlando — away from the turnstiles — you’ll get a sense of what locals already know: this city has a thriving food scene that’s just as magical as any theme park.

Tips for Dining Out on Thanksgiving in Orlando

  • Book early. These restaurants fill up quickly, especially the buffets and resort venues.

  • Ask about pricing. Many Thanksgiving menus are prix fixe and range from $50–$120 per person depending on the restaurant.

  • Mind the dress code. Fine dining spots like Bull & Bear or The Boheme lean formal, while Lake Nona and I-Drive options are more casual.

  • Check parking and location. If you’re staying near Disney, the Rosen hotels and Waldorf Astoria are easy drives. Lake Nona is about 30 minutes from the parks but worth it for something local.

  • Be patient. Thanksgiving in Orlando is busy — but these spots take pride in making sure the experience feels special, not rushed.

The Bottom Line

Thanksgiving in Orlando doesn’t have to be another hurried, pre-made plate served under the glow of a theme park chandelier.

Step outside the gates this year, slow down, and experience what real Orlando hospitality tastes like — whether it’s a lavish buffet at the Rosen Plaza, an elegant feast at the Waldorf, or a cozy local meal in Lake Nona.

You’ll get the flavors of the holiday and the feeling of it too — which is something no Lightning Lane can buy.

The 3-2-1 Rule at Disney: Your Simple Framework for a Magical Day

The 3-2-1 Rule is the key to enjoying Walt Disney World without overwhelm. Learn how planning just 3 rides, 2 experiences, and 1 meal can transform your entire park day.

Cinderella Castle Magic Kingdom

Introduction

Planning a trip to Walt Disney World (or any major Disney resort) can feel overwhelming. With dozens of attractions, dining options, shows, and experiences, it’s easy to burn out or leave the park feeling more frazzled than thrilled. That’s where the 3-2-1 Rule comes in: a simple, easy-to-remember strategy to focus your day, reduce decision-fatigue, and prioritize what really matters.

By deciding ahead of time to visit 3 rides, 2 experiences, and plan for 1 solid meal, you’ll give yourself structure while leaving plenty of room for spontaneity, rest, and pure magic. Below, you’ll find how the rule works, why it matters, how to apply it, and bonus tips to refine it for your family or group.

What is the 3-2-1 Rule?

The 3-2-1 Rule is a guideline designed to streamline your Disney park day into three main pieces:

  • 3 rides: Choose three key attractions you want to experience.

  • 2 experiences: Pick two non-ride moments — these might be shows, character meet-and-greets, parades, or simply magical moments like resting in a shaded area.

  • 1 meal: Commit in advance to one sit-down or scheduled meal, giving you a moment to recharge, relax, and regroup.

This trifecta gives you a realistic target, frees you from trying to “do it all,” and helps you focus on what your group will genuinely remember. According to travel bloggers, the 3-2-1 Rule is especially helpful when visiting Disney with kids or when you want to avoid “burning out” by mid-afternoon.

Why Use the 3-2-1 Rule?

Tower of Terror Hollywood Studios

Minimizes Overwhelming feelings in the parks

At a park like Walt Disney World, you’re bombarded with hundreds of options. Without a framework, you might find yourself chasing ride after ride, snack after snack, seeking “everything,” only to feel exhausted and unsatisfied. The 3-2-1 Rule gives clarity: pick three rides, two experiences, one meal. That’s it.

Encourages Quality Over Quantity

Rather than riding every attraction possible, you’ll choose the ones that matter most. You’ll savor the experiences instead of racing through them.

Builds in Rest and Flexibility

With only three rides and two experiences, you naturally build gaps for rest, snack breaks, people-watching, or even a resort return if you’re staying on-property. The “one meal” gives you a scheduled anchor—a forced pause to regroup.

Ideal for Families & All Ages

The rule is especially effective for younger children, multigenerational groups, or first-time visitors who want to minimize stress while maximizing enjoyment.

How to Implement the 3-2-1 Rule: Step-by-Step

Magic Kingdom Cinderella Castle

Step 1: Choose Your Three Rides

Think ahead: what are the “must-do” attractions for your group? Consider height requirements, comfort levels, wait times, and thrill preference.

  • List more than three if you like, but commit to tackling three.

  • Prioritize early morning or rope-drop slots if possible (to maximize lower wait times).

  • Example: At Magic Kingdom you might pick Peter Pan’s Flight, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Haunted Mansion.

Step 2: Decide Your Two Experiences

These aren’t rides — these are moments of magic, connection, or rest. They could include:

  • A parade or fireworks show.

  • A character meet-and-greet.

  • A scenic ride (e.g., the monorail or boat).

  • A relaxing shaded spot with snacks.

  • Example: “Meet Mickey at Town Square” and “Watch the Enchantment fireworks”.

Step 3: Book or Plan One Meal

Pick one go-to dining moment. This can be a table-service reservation or a mobile-order spot you’re comfortable committing to. This meal becomes your mid-day anchor.

  • It gives your body and mind a rest.

  • It gives your group something to look forward to.

  • It lowers the pressure to squeeze in multiple full meals or constantly chase snacks.
Example: Lunch at Be Our Guest Restaurant or dinner at California Grill.

Step 4: Build in “White Space”

With the 3-2-1 structure, you’ll naturally have extra blocks of time. Use these for:

  • Snack stops, drinks, or shade breaks.

  • Photo ops and spontaneous joy.

  • Resort return or afternoon quiet time (especially helpful for younger kids or midday fatigue).

  • A second ride if time allows (bonus!).

Step 5: Be Flexible, Stay Present

The rule gives a framework — not a rigid itinerary. If you finish earlier than expected, you might do one more ride, or explore a new snack. If something goes off-plan (ride breakdown, weather delay), you still feel successful because you achieved the three-two-one target.

Customizing the 3-2-1 Rule for Your Travel Style

France Epcot World Showcase

For Families With Young Kids

  • Pick rides with low or no height requirements for your “3 rides”.

  • Make one of the “2 experiences” something restful or slow-paced (like a character breakfast or a calm show).

  • Meal: consider an early lunch to beat crowds and avoid meltdowns.

For Thrill-Seekers or Adults Only

  • Choose your three biggest-thrill rides first (e.g., “Tower of Terror”, “Space Mountain”, “Expedition Everest”).

  • Two experiences: maybe a cocktail lounge or fireworks dessert party + immersive ride queue like “Rise of the Resistance”.

  • Meal: pick a fine-dining venue or signature restaurant for a fun treat.

For Long Stays or Multi-Park Days

  • Use 3-2-1 per park, or adjust: maybe 5-3-2 if you’re doing multiple parks in one day and want a heavier list.

  • But the core idea remains: designate a fixed set of rides, experiences, meal(s) and leave the rest open.

For Repeat Visitors

  • You might expand the “3 rides” to include hidden gems or lesser-known attractions you missed previously.

  • Use the “2 experiences” to try new entertainment or seasonal offerings (festivals, special shows).

  • You might still keep to one scheduled meal but add roam-and-snack freedom.

Sample Daily Timeline Using the 3-2-1 Rule

Here’s how a typical day might play out using the rule:

  • 9:00 a.m. Park opens – First ride selected (Ride #1)

  • 10:00 a.m. Ride #2

  • 11:00 a.m. Experience #1 (e.g., character meet)

  • 12:00 p.m. Sit down for your one planned meal

  • 1:30 p.m. Ride #3

  • 2:30 p.m. Experience #2 (e.g., parade, shaded snack break, photo op)

  • 3:30 p.m. Free time: additional attraction if you like, resort return, shopping, snacks

  • Evening Relaxed pace, maybe one bonus ride or fireworks show, and you leave feeling accomplished rather than exhausted.

Common Questions & Clarifications

Do I have to stick to exactly 3 rides, 2 experiences, and 1 meal?
No. The rule is a guideline, not a rigid mandate. You can flex it to suit your group’s pace and preferences. The power comes from choosing ahead of time and committing to that set.

What if my group wants more than 3 rides?
Great! Use the three as your “core” rides and treat others as bonus. That way you guarantee three meaningful experiences without chasing everything.

Is the one meal strictly table service?
Not necessarily. It can translate into one planned meal moment whether it’s table-service, mobile order, or a great counter service you’re comfortable committing to. The key is planning ahead and not leaving it entirely to chance.

Does this apply to all parks at Disney resorts?
Yes! Whether you’re visiting Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios or Disney’s Animal Kingdom (or their equivalents at other Disney locations), the 3-2-1 Rule can help shape your day. This neat trick works everywhere on the globe at other parks such as Tokyo Disney Sea, Disneyland Paris, Disneyland in California and more.

Final Thoughts

Guardians Of The Galaxy Cosmic Rewind

At the end of your Disney day, what will you remember? Most guests don’t recall every ride they did—they remember how they felt: excited, relaxed, joyful, connected with family. The 3-2-1 Rule helps you focus on experience, not just checklists.

By choosing three rides, two experiences, and one meal in advance, you reduce the noise, prioritize what matters, and give yourself permission to slow down and soak it all in. Whether you’re traveling with toddlers, teens, adults only, or a multigenerational group, this simple framework keeps the day manageable, flexible, and truly magical.

So next time you’re headed to Walt Disney World, make the choice: ride 3, experience 2, dine 1, and let the rest fall into place. You might just find you enjoy the park more by doing less. These tips will make you seem like a pro!

The Best Orlando Vacations You Can Take for $5,000

Can you take a premium Orlando vacation for under $5,000? I compared real 2025 prices for Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, Royal Caribbean, and Disney Cruise Line to see which offers families the most magic for their money.

Which Vacation wins?

If you’ve ever tried to plan an Orlando vacation lately, you know the sticker shock is real. Between theme park tickets, hotel rates, and food costs, that “family trip of a lifetime” can quickly feel like a luxury purchase. So I wanted to find out — can you still have a premium Orlando vacation for around $5,000?

To answer that, I did the research myself and compared four very different ways to spend a family vacation in Central Florida: Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, Royal Caribbean, and Disney Cruise Line. Each one came in right around $5,000, but the experiences couldn’t be more different.

🎥 Watch the full video here: The Best Orlando Vacations You Can Take for $5,000

What a $5,000 Orlando vacation looks like.

Disney Cruise Line: The Disney Wish

Let’s start at sea. I priced out a 3-night sailing aboard the Disney Wish leaving July 3 from Port Canaveral, visiting Nassau and Castaway Cay. This was for a family of four in an interior room on Deck 2 midship, totaling $5,032.32.

And yes — that’s over $5,000 for just three nights. But before you scroll away, remember that Disney Cruises are nearly all-inclusive. You’re getting top-notch entertainment, themed dining, Broadway-style shows, and private island access at Castaway Cay. For families who want Disney-level service and character experiences without tackling the parks, this is a compact, premium option.

If you want a longer cruise, I also checked a 4-night version of this same itinerary sailing July 6, which came out to $7,017, and a 7-night Disney Treasure sailing starting July 4, totaling $10,287. Clearly, the three-night cruise fits that $5,000 budget best — but you’ll have to decide if that short trip is worth the cost.

Universal Orlando Resort: Stella Nova, Cabana Bay, or Royal Pacific

Next, I compared Universal Orlando, where the newest park, Epic Universe, is set to change the game in 2025.

For this comparison, I looked at a 6-night stay from July 5–11 at the brand-new Stella Nova Resort, which is Universal’s newest Prime Value hotel. It came out to $4,882.53 including 5-day Park-to-Park tickets for the whole family.

Guests checking in at Universal's Royal Pacific Resort Orlando

Universal’s Royal Pacific Resort comes with Free Express Passes to Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure.

Stella Nova is located just minutes from Epic Universe and connected by a dedicated busway that makes getting around incredibly easy. You can hop from your room to the parks in minutes without ever driving or dealing with parking.

If you want to upgrade, Cabana Bay Beach Resort gives you access to its retro-themed pools and lazy river, while Royal Pacific Resort — a Premier hotel — includes Express Passes for every guest, letting you skip most lines.

Universal gives you a mix of flexibility and thrills, with enough options to fit a family’s comfort level and still stay close to the new park everyone’s talking about.

Royal Caribbean: Utopia of the Seas

Now let’s talk cruising — but this time with Royal Caribbean. I compared a 4-night Utopia of the Seas sailing departing July 7 from Port Canaveral, visiting Nassau and Perfect Day at CocoCay, Royal Caribbean’s private island. The total? $4,998 for an interior room for four guests.

Utopia of the Seas Cruise Ship in port at Nassau Bahamas

Utopia of the Seas and her passengers spend the day at Nassau, Bahamas.

The thing that stands out with Royal Caribbean is just how much is included. You’ve got meals, shows, and entertainment all covered. The kids can hit the water slides or surf simulators while you relax at the adults-only pool or grab a cocktail on the Boardwalk.

Royal Caribbean delivers a floating resort experience that feels truly all-inclusive — and for the same price as a mid-level Orlando theme park trip, it’s hard to argue with the value.

If your family likes adventure and freedom rather than sticking to a schedule, this one’s tough to beat.

Walt Disney World: The Gold Standard

Finally, we’ve got the one and only Walt Disney World. I priced two realistic options for a 6-night stay from July 6–12 for a family of four.

Disney's Beach Club Resort entrance with a Mears bus parked in front.

A Mears bus arrives at Disney’s Beach Club Resort with passengers ready to start their Disney World vacation.

Option one: Pop Century Resort, one of Disney’s Value properties, came out to $4,986.10 with 6-day park tickets and the Quick Service Dining Plan included. Pop Century is perfect for families who want to be surrounded by Disney theming, easy Skyliner access to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios, and predictable pricing.

Option two: Coronado Springs Resort, a beautiful Moderate hotel with Spanish-inspired architecture, came out to $5,007.65 for the same dates and tickets. You’ll get upgraded dining, larger rooms, and a more relaxed resort vibe — but without losing access to all the perks, like Early Theme Park Entry and extended evening hours at select parks.

When you factor in the park experiences, transportation, dining, and resort atmosphere, Disney World ends up being the most complete and balanced vacation on the list. It’s the one destination that gives you full control over your budget and daily experience — whether you’re rope-dropping Magic Kingdom or just taking it slow by the pool.

So Which Vacation Wins?

All four options are amazing in their own way — it just depends on what kind of family you are.

If you love characters, storytelling, and all-inclusive comfort, Disney Cruise Line is unmatched.
If you’re all about thrills and new attractions, Universal Orlando and Epic Universe will be irresistible.
If you want everything wrapped into one floating resort, Royal Caribbean gives you the most bang for your buck.
And if you want that iconic Orlando experience, Walt Disney World still reigns supreme — especially with the dining plan returning.

So yes — a $5,000 premium Orlando vacation is absolutely possible. You just have to pick your flavor of magic.

Dining Discounts: Save Big at Disney Springs & Disney World

AAA is offering exclusive dining discounts for members at Walt Disney World and Disney Springs — including 50% off gift cards at popular spots like Planet Hollywood and Chicken Guy. Even if you’re not a member, these deals can help you save money at Disney World instantly.

If you’re looking for a new way to save money at Walt Disney World, here’s something worth checking out — especially if you love eating at Disney Springs. AAA just released several exclusive dining discounts for members, and some of them are seriously impressive. As someone who’s always looking for new ways to save money at Disney World, I couldn’t resist testing one of these deals myself.

I started with Planet Hollywood at Disney Springs, where AAA was offering 50% off digital gift cards. I purchased a $100 gift card for just $50 — and the best part? It was available for immediate use. No waiting period, no hoops to jump through. That’s a true win for anyone who enjoys dining at Disney Springs.

Even if you’re not already a AAA member (which costs around $50 a year), this deal practically pays for itself. You’d break even just by using one 50% off gift card — plus you’d walk away with a full AAA membership and all its travel benefits. That’s way better than just spending $100 at Planet Hollywood and getting nothing extra in return.

Here are some of the best Disney Springs dining discounts currently available through AAA digital gift cards:

Auntie Anne’s – Disney Springs

  • $25 Digital Gift Card for $20
If you’re craving a warm pretzel during your Disney Springs stroll, this one’s an easy win. It’s not a massive discount, but every little bit helps when you’re trying to save money at Disney World.

Blaze Pizza – Disney Springs

  • $25 Digital Gift Card for $20
Blaze Pizza is one of the best spots for affordable Disney Springs dining. With custom-made pizzas, gluten-free, cauliflower, and keto crust options, and even vegan cheese, it’s a quick-service favorite that doesn’t sacrifice quality. Plus, NBA star LeBron James is an investor — just a fun fact to share over your slice.

Chicken Guy! – Disney Springs

  • $20 Gift Card for $10

  • $60 Gift Card for $30

  • $100 Gift Card for $50
Guy Fieri’s Chicken Guy! is already known for being one of the most budget-friendly Disney World restaurants, and now AAA members can cut the cost in half. The chicken tenders and sauces are perfect for a casual lunch or dinner.

Earl of Sandwich – Disney Springs

menu items like sandwiches and soft drinks at Earl of Sandwich
  • $20 Gift Card for $10

  • $60 Gift Card for $30

  • $100 Gift Card for $50
This one’s a Disney Springs classic. The sandwiches are hearty, the prices are fair, and with AAA’s 50% savings, it’s a must for any Disney dining deal hunter.

Planet Hollywood – Disney Springs

  • $20 Gift Card for $10

  • $60 Gift Card for $30

  • $100 Gift Card for $50
If you haven’t been inside Planet Hollywood lately, it’s worth revisiting for the memorabilia alone. With 50% off, it’s easily one of the best Disney Springs discounts available right now.

Rainforest Café – Disney Springs & Disney’s Animal Kingdom

table and chairs at the Rain Forrest Cafes at Walt Disney World

Rainforest Cafe has 2 locations at Disney World: Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Disney Springs.

  • $50 Digital Gift Card for $37.50

  • $100 Digital Gift Card for $75
While Rainforest Café isn’t usually my go-to, I have to admit this 25% discount might change my mind. Between the animatronics, jungle sounds, and kid-friendly menu, this could be a fun and affordable family meal.

T-REX Café – Disney Springs

  • $50 Digital Gift Card for $37.50

  • $100 Digital Gift Card for $80
T-REX Café is one of the most popular themed restaurants at Disney Springs — and one of the hardest to get into without a reservation. The 25% discount makes it a more reasonable splurge, especially for families with kids who love dinosaurs.

Yak & Yeti – Disney’s Animal Kingdom

  • $50 Digital Gift Card for $37.50

  • $100 Digital Gift Card for $75
Yak & Yeti is one of my favorite table-service restaurants inside the parks. The Pan-Asian menu and atmosphere make it a standout, and a 25% AAA discount makes it even better for anyone looking to save money dining inside Disney World.

These AAA Disney dining discounts are some of the best offers I’ve seen lately for saving money at Disney Springs and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The fact that the gift cards are digital and available instantly makes them incredibly convenient — no waiting around for a physical card to arrive.

If you’re already a AAA member, log in to your account and grab these deals before they’re gone. And if you’re not a member yet, this might be the perfect excuse to join. Between the savings and the perks, these Disney World restaurant discounts are just too good to pass up.

Soarin’ Across America Takes Flight at EPCOT in Summer 2026 — A Coast-to-Coast Adventure You Won’t Want to Miss

Soarin’ Across America is officially coming to EPCOT in Summer 2026! This updated version of the fan-favorite flight attraction will take guests on a breathtaking journey across the United States, featuring new 4K drone footage, enhanced scents, and Imagineering magic.

As someone who’s always appreciated theme-park attractions that combine immersive storytelling with breathtaking visuals, I’m genuinely excited to see Soarin’ Across America making its debut at EPCOT at Walt Disney World Resort.

This isn’t simply a nostalgic comeback—it’s a fresh take on a beloved ride that perfectly aligns with EPCOT’s evolution toward celebrating innovation, the spirit of adventure, and the natural beauty of the United States.

The Land Pavilion will be home to Soarin’ Over America in summer 2026.

Disney has confirmed that Soarin’ Across America will officially arrive in Summer 2026 at EPCOT.

The attraction will be housed in the familiar Soarin’ Pavilion in EPCOT’s World Nature neighborhood (within The Land pavilion) — the same location where Soarin’ Around the World currently operates.

The shift back to a U.S.–themed itinerary is a thoughtful move, embracing diverse and spectacular American landscapes while aligning with EPCOT’s focus on “human achievement, exploration, and natural wonder.”

If you’re not already familiar with the ride format, here’s a quick recap: Soarin’ is a flight motion simulator that lifts you into a hang-glider–style seat and sends you soaring high above some of America’s most iconic landmarks and wilderness.

The ride uses a massive curved screen that surrounds your field of vision, synchronized movement, sound effects—and yes—scents that enhance immersion. (I’ve always loved how those little sensory touches—pine in a forest, salty sea breeze near a coast—really bring the scenes alive.)

With this new version, the storytelling and visuals have been upgraded. The Imagineers at Walt Disney Imagineering captured more than a dozen American locations—from sweeping national parks to city-skylines and coastlines—using ultra high-definition aerial and drone footage.

You can expect to glide over places like the Grand Canyon, the Great Smoky Mountains, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Everglades, and more.

And while Disney hasn’t yet revealed a full list of all the sites, it’s clear the focus is coast-to-coast and celebratory of America’s natural & urban diversity.

What really stands out to me is how naturally this fits within EPCOT’s broader transformation.

The park has moved in recent years toward experiences that celebrate stories of nature, culture, the human spirit, and yes, American ingenuity too.

Soarin’ Across America feels like a perfect match. It also gives longtime fans (myself included) a bit of nostalgia—after all, the original Soarin’ Over California opened back in 2001 and at EPCOT in 2005.

Returning to an all-American theme feels like a respectful nod to the ride’s roots while embracing modern advancements.

From a guest perspective, Soarin’ remains one of EPCOT’s most accessible “thrill” rides.

It’s thrilling without being extreme, making it a great fit for families, couples, solo travelers—and really, anyone who’s ready to take flight.

The motion is smooth, the visuals will be spectacular, and it retains that inviting “wow” factor. If you’re prone to motion-sickness, note that the ride does mimic flight movements, but generally it’s considered gentle compared to more intense simulators.

Location is also a big plus. Because Soarin’ Across America will be in World Nature, you can pair it easily with other favorites in The Land pavilion and the surrounding nature-themed areas.

It’s smartly positioned for a half-day or full-day plan focusing on natural-world themes. The queue itself is bright, engaging, and offers subtle nods to the flight experience — setting the stage before you even take off.

All told, Soarin’ Across America is shaping up to be one of EPCOT’s most exciting updates coming soon.

It merges nostalgia with innovation, offers a stunning visual journey from coast to coast across America, and feels perfectly timed as Disney celebrates both the country’s natural beauty and EPCOT’s evolution.

Whether you’re visiting for the first time or you’ve been around the block dozens of times, this ride deserves a top spot on your must-do list when it opens in summer 2026.

I’ll personally be there for takeoff day, ready to share every detail and help you craft the ultimate experience.

If you’re planning a trip to EPCOT in the next year or so, make room for Soarin’ Across America.

It’s more than just a ride—it’s a soaring tribute to the United States, captured in a way only Disney can deliver.

Best Rooms at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort offers 19th-century New England elegance and is perfectly situated in the Epcot Resort Area. This guide covers the resort's sophisticated rooms and dining, including the signature Yachtsman Steakhouse. Learn about the unrivaled convenience of walking to Epcot and Hollywood Studios and get all the details on Stormalong Bay, the massive 3-acre pool complex shared with Beach Club Resort.

Looking for the best rooms at Disney's Yacht Club Resort? Look no further! In this video, I provide insider tips and tricks to help you choose the perfect room for your magical Disney vacation. From room views to amenities, I cover everything you need to know to make the most of your stay at this Disney Deluxe resort. Don't book your room before watching this guide!

Disney's Yacht Club Resort Balconies

Stay tuned for all the details on the best rooms at Disney's Yacht Club Resort!

Disney’s Yacht Club is the sister resort to Disney’s Beach Club Resort - in fact, they are both part of the same building. One the east side of the resort complex is the Beach Club, the west side is the Yacht Club. Both resorts have separate check-in areas but they share the same amenities. Rooms are nearly identical in size and have similar floorplans.

I encourage you to watch the video below, I include detailed maps of the resort:

Yacht Club is a little more sophisticated than Beach. sister.  It has more upscale dining, the lobby is darker with warm wood accents, and houses a collection of nautical decor. It resembles the elite Yacht Club s found throughout New England. But make no mistake, this is Disney, so it still feels casual. Now,  Beach Club is brighter, and more casual - almost as if you were staying at a family beach house, and it’s just a little closer to Epcot. Yacht club is a little closer to Hollywood Studios.

Quick-service dining at this hotel can be found at the Ale and Compass Market - which has a better layout than Beach Club and a better menu. You;ll find mostly hot and cold sandwiches like a ham, egg, and cheese on a pretzel roll for breakfast and a turkey and bree sandwich for lunch and dinner, just to name a few.

One of the best features of Yacht Club is Stormaling Bay, which is a min-water park right behind the hotel. Stormalong Bay  is shared with Beach Club but with 750,000 gallons of water, it’s big enough to handle the crowds. One of the most unique features of Stormalong Bay is that the bottom of the pool is covered with sand and it has one of the longest water slides of any Disney World Deluxe hotel.

disney's yacht club resort best rooms

Yacht Club is a sprawling hotel, ranging from 3-5 stories tall. Most rooms at this resort sleep 5 people with 2 queen size beds and a day bed. But there’s a critical variation that will soon be revealed.

Disney prices the 630 guest rooms based on view, Resort View and Water View.

Resort View rooms are the most economical and overlook the hotel’s driveway, roof, gardens, or woods. Rooftop views are not pretty and there are a lot of them at Yacht Club. Rooms that overlook gardens and wooded areas are of course, more desirable.

Water View at Walt Disney World means anything that is wet. Your view may be of the quiet pool (if you have a direct view of the pool), Stormalong Bay or Crescent Lake. Water View rooms that overlook Crescent Lake may also have distant views of Disney’s Boardwalk.

Resort View and water-view rooms come in a variety of configurations here.

Most will have either 1 king bed or 2 queen beds. But here’s that critical piece of information. Most rooms that have 2 queen beds also include a day bed, which is a sofa that folds flat into a twin bed. Not to be confused with a pull-out sofa. Notice I said “most rooms.” Some rooms simply have 2 queen beds without the day bed. This is important to know because if you are counting on the day bed as a separate sleeping arrangement, there’s a chance you may not get it. This could be a problem if you have 2 guests who cannot share the same bed. If you need the day bed, I like to make to this request for my clients well in advance.

Now, if you have 5 people Disney should automatically assign you a room with the daybed. Otherwise, where’s the 5th person going to sleep?

Yacht Club also has rooms with 1 king bed and just as you might automatically trigger a 5-person room with 5 people, you might also trigger a king bedroom with just 2 people. Some king rooms at Yacht Club also come with a Day bed, but some do not! If I have clients who do not want a king bed, I call the hotel to let them know in advance. If you need help with any of this be sure to contact me here.

There are also 70 Club Level rooms on the 5th floor which include access to the Regatta Lounge. Most of the Club Level rooms are standard hotel rooms, but some suites are located on other floors throughout the hotel and come with access to the lounge. The turret suites at this hotel are among the most popular at any hotel in Walt Disney World and book up far in advance. I had a chance to stay in one many years ago, and I would highly recommend it if you’re in the market for a suite.

balconies at disney's yacht club with patio

Regular rooms at this hotel have either a balcony or a patio.

So, we covered room categories, club level, balconies, and sleeping arrangements, but what about the best room locations at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort?

There’s no doubt that the best rooms with views are on the higher floors. The 4th floor is best especially if you have a water view room, you’ll likely have great views of Stormalong Bay or The Boardwalk and or Crescent Lake.

Rooms that are closer to Epcot and close to Stormalong Bay are found in the block of rooms that end in 185 through 241. And if you would like to be closer to the walking path to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, request rooms that end in 001 through 065.

Some rooms at the yacht Club might have a view of the Epcot fireworks. Keep in mind that most of the Epcot fireworks are lower to the ground so it will be difficult to see most of the show. But if you’re ok with a glimpse of a few high-flying shells, I would request odd-numbered rooms on the 3rd or 4th floors that end in 011 through 027 and 067 through 081.

Yacht Club is one long building, so if your ideal room is to be closer to transportation - being the bus, boat, or parking lot, requesting a room near the lobby would be ideal Ground floor rooms in particular. Rooms 1149 through 1163 are excellent rooms - a good mix of resort view and water view rooms.

If you want both a convenient location AND a great view, 4th-floor rooms 4149 through 4163 are best.

What about The best water-view rooms, well that could be a few different things. Remember that water view means anything with water - so Stormalong Bay Cresent Lake, or a combination. My picks are rooms 4161 and 4163- 4th floor of course. These rooms look straight to Crescent Lake and Disney’s Boardwalk Resort.

The best scenic resort view rooms are odd-numbered rooms between 4143 and 4151. They are somewhat close to the main lobby, but they also have partial views of both Crescent Lake and Stromalong Bay. So you’re getting some water views at a resort view price. But even more than that, you’re on the more scenic side of the resort - the back. The front of the resort overlooks the entrance, so there isn’t much to see on that side. Something else I like about these rooms is that they are the lobby elevator. These same rooms on floors 2 and 3 are also acceptable. Just keep in mind that these rooms are located in the heart of the resort, so there isn’t too much privacy from your balcony.

lobby at disney's yacht club resort

Now speaking of privacy, if you would rather a resort view room that is located in a quiet area, I  like rooms on the far west side of the building. These rooms overlook a wooded area and they are closer to the quiet pool and tennis courts. Even numbered rooms ending in 092  through 112 have lots of shade and almost no pedestrians walking by. So for example, rooms 4092 (4th floor), 3092 (3rd floor), and so on are all great for privacy.

What about a water-view room that’s in a quiet location? Some water view rooms overlook Stromalong Bay, and while the view is nice, you’ll definitely hear noise from the people in the pool and during the afternoon, there’s a DJ that plays music and poolside games.

So, water-view rooms that overlook Crescent Lake are going to be your most quiet options. Odd-numbered rooms on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors ending in 003 through 009 will have excellent water views and far from the noise of the pool. I didn’t select ground floor rooms however because there’s a busy walkway that runs past these rooms. And by the way, these rooms have amazing sunset views as well.

I help my clients with room requests all the time so feel free to contact me for your next Disney World vacation. Together we can come up with the perfect room request.

Room requests have a better chance of being honored if you make them within the category you booked.

For example, if you book a Resort View room and request to have a view of Crescent Lake, that request would have very little chance of being honored. This is like asking the hotel for a free upgrade. Sure you might get it, but odds are you won’t. A request for a room with a full-size balcony, overlooking woods and gardens, has a much higher chance of behind honored. You should also keep room requests as general as possible. Provide a range of room numbers rather than a specific room. Or request a room similar to a specific room. This gives the room assignor more possibilities when searching for your room. Keep in mind that room requests are not guaranteed but Disney tries hard to honor them.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort is one of the original Monorail loop resorts, offering the unique experience of having the Monorail glide directly through its lobby. Disney's Beach Club Resort

Disney’s Beach Club Resort is one of the best-located Deluxe resorts, offering a charming New England theme and the incredible Stormalong Bay, a 3-acre water playground. This complete guide details the rooms that sleep up to five, the popular character dining at Cape May Cafe, and the convenience of being just a short walk to EPCOT’s World Showcase entrance, the Disney Skyliner, and a boat ride from Hollywood Studios.

Disney’s Beach Club Resort is a charming, New England-style hotel located just outside of Epcot. The pools, lagoons and spas of Stormalong Bay make this property unique. Sharing many amenities with its more formal sister, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, Disney’s Beach Club Resort is within walking distance to Epcot, Disney Skyliner and a convenient boat ride to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

  • Most standard hotel rooms are 380 square feet and come with 2 queen beds and a sofa bed.

There are a handful of rooms that do not have the sofa bed.

If you need the sofa bed, let me know so I can enter a request for you. Requests are not guaranteed but Disney does try hard to honor this one in particular.

If you have a party of 5, you will almost certainly get a room with a sofa bed automatically, but I would still note it on the reservation.

Rooms have full size balconies, patios (ground level) or what I call mini-balconies. These are balconies that have just enough room for one person to stand on. If you prefer a full-size balcony or a patio, this should be entered as a request. (Requests cannot be guaranteed).

Animal Kingdom Lodge Guide: Savanna View, Jambo House vs. Kidani & Dining

Experience the magic of Africa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge! This comprehensive guide covers both the main resort, Jambo House, and the Disney Vacation Club section, Kidani Village. Learn which Savanna View rooms offer the best chance to see giraffe and zebra at dawn, and explore the resort's award-winning dining—from buffets at Boma to signature dishes at Jiko – The Cooking Place and Sanaa.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is one of my favorite resort hotels at Walt Disney World, offering guests an experience like no other. Prepare to be captivated by the immersive atmosphere, incredible wildlife encounters, and award-winning dining experiences.

Welcome to Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, starting with the lobby you’ll notice it’s filled with authentic museum pieces, artwork, and wood carvings.

This one-of-a-kind hotel offers a unique experience that will transport you to Africa. You will absolutely forget that you’re in Central Florida. Yes, Animal Kingdom Lodge is in a remote location on Disney World property. It is sometimes criticized in guidebooks for being far away from the parks. But that’s the point!

It needs to be relaxing and tranquil, away from Disney theming, traffic, park noise, and fireworks. Being able to escape the theme park atmosphere while on vacation is a good thing, and only Animal Kingdom Lodge does that.

What makes Animal Kingdom Lodge great

  • One-of-a-kind hotel experience

  • Close to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park

  • Some of the best restaurants at Walt Disney World

  • Jiko: The Cooking Place has earned state and national awards for culinary excellence

  • 11,000 Square foot pool surrounded by a wildlife savanna

  • One of the most beautiful hotels at Disney World with incredible attention to detail

  • Wildlife savanna is home to over 200 animals and birds

  • Spacious rooms ranging from standard hotel rooms to deluxe villas

  • Club Level Concierge is considered one of the best on Disney property by Disney experts

  • 1, 2, and 3-bedroom villas have kitchens, living rooms and washer/dryers

  • There are 3 main room categories

Resort View - the most economical. Offering standard views of parking areas, rooftops, and/or landscaping.

Water View - overlooks the pool area. While the pool is pretty at night especially, these rooms can be noisy. Early morning power washing of the pool furniture starts around 6 am.

Savanna View - views of the wildlife safaris.

All rooms have a private balcony with 2 chairs.

If you book a Savanna View room, I recommend waking up at dawn for at least one day on your vacation, grabbing coffee, and sitting on your balcony.

The animals are very active at dawn. You’ll see the animals playing with each other and some even calling out to other animals.

Once the sun comes up, the animals begin to chill out.

Good to know

A common misconception is that you need to get to Animal Kingdom Park early in the morning to see the animals.

But by the time Animal Kingdom Park opens, the animals are already done playing.

The best time to view the animals in the theme park is late afternoon, as the sun begins to set. But if you’re staying at the Lodge, pre-dawn is the absolute best time.

Standard rooms at Animal Kingdom Lodge have 2 queen beds and sleep up to 4 people.

Most other Deluxe Resorts at Disney World can sleep up to 5 guests so Animal Kingdom is unique in that way (Disney’s Wilderness Lodge too).
