7 Ways to Navigate Epic Universe Like A PRO!

How to wait less in line at Epic Universe (when you don’t have Early Park Admission)

I’ve been to Epic Universe quite a few times, and it's quickly become one of my favorite parks in Orlando! But I’ll tell you right now—if you don’t have Early Park Admission, you’re starting the day at a disadvantage. But that doesn’t mean you can’t win.”

Today, I’m sharing my personal strategy for touring Epic Universe without Early Entry.

Watch my video on how to save time in line at Epic Universe

#1 Start of Day: Celestial Park at Rope Drop

I always begin my day right at the gates of Celestial Park, arriving about 40 minutes prior to park opening. This allows me time to park, walk to the gate, and clear security without long waits. Universal will allow you into Celestial Park even before the park officially opens.  This is the hub of Epic Universe, so I take some time to walk around and take it all in. Oh, and don’t skip the fountain show. Most guests breeze right by, but they’re beautiful and timed to music. And come back to watch them at night with the Helios Grand Hotel in the background. You’ll get some great photos and videos here.

Now, when the park opens, most guests make the same mistake: They rush toward Super Nintendo World or the Harry Potter Ministry ride. Don’t do that. Hotel guests with Early Park Admission flood those lands before you’re even allowed in. By the time you get there, those rides will already have wait times well over 150 minutes. The ministry will be more like 180 minutes when the park opens.

So instead of getting frustrated, I do something else. I go for Stardust Racers.

This is Epic Universe’s flagship coaster—a high-speed, dual-launch ride that soars above Celestial Park. If you’re here at rope drop, you can typically ride it with only a 10–20 minute wait. And trust me, it’s worth it. I always try to ride this twice—once in the morning, and again at night when the park lights are glowing. It’s a completely different experience.

But heads up: after sunset, the entire park seems to migrate here. The line can spike dramatically, and they will close the queue early if it gets too long. So lock this one in early.

#2 Isle of Berk (Mid-Morning)

After Stardust, I immediately head to Isle of Berk, home to the “How to Train Your Dragon” attractions. This land is designed with families in mind—but don’t let that fool you. There are some thrilling attractions here, and the entire space feels vibrant and energetic.

Now if meeting Toothless is high on your priority list, head there first when you enter Berk. This meet and greet is seriously impressive—Toothless is fully animated and interactive, but the wait gets long fast. I’ve seen it hit 55 minutes as soon as the park opens. So if this is a must-do for you or your kids, knock it out early before you start riding.

isle of berk at epic universe - wide angle shot

Isle of Berk at Epic Universe is based on the film, How to Train Your Dragon

Next stop? Hiccup’s Wing Gliders. This is a fast-moving family coaster and a favorite among both kids and adults. It’s also incredibly popular, so I try to hit it before the midday rush. Wait times hover around 60-70 minutes in the morning.

If you’re up for some chaotic fun, Dragon Racer Rally is a wild ride that lets you control your own spinning dragon. It’s great for families and surprisingly intense if you max out the controls. The line here is usually shorter than Wing Gliders, and it’s a solid second or third stop.

If I’m up for getting soaked, I’ll jump on Fyre Drill next. It’s a playful, interactive boat battle where you basically spray water at everyone and everything. The line will be under 30 minutes most of the morning, so it’s a great pick right now. Just keep in mind you’ll be very wet for a while. Ponchos can help, but even your shoes will get soaked.

And then there’s The Untrainable Dragon Show—a solid mix of animatronics, puppetry, and live performance. Personally, I save this one for later in the afternoon when the heat sets in and I need an air-conditioned break. But if you’re already in the area and don’t plan to return, catch the next showtime you can.

#3 Lunch and Rides in Dark Universe (Early Afternoon)

By early afternoon, it’s time to shift into something darker—literally. Dark Universe is the moody, monster-filled land of Epic Universe, and it’s one of the most atmospheric parts of the park. This is my favorite portal in Epic Universe.

I like to hit Curse of the Werewolf first. It’s family-friendly so the line builds quickly once guests finish Nintendo World and begin to head in this direction. It’s short and punchy—and the barn has a fun surprise, so keep your eyes peeled as you pass through.

But the main event here is Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment. This is my favorite dark ride in the entire park. Massive sets, brilliant effects, and an absolutely wild story. I would say this is the second flagship attraction in the park after Battle at the Ministry. And surprisingly, the wait times are usually very manageable, 10 to 35 minutes throughout most of the day.

By now, you’ll be thinking about lunch. I always recommend Das Stakehaus.it’s themed like a vampire steakhouse and one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had at a theme park. The theming is top-notch, and the food is just as impressive. Be sure to walk around the dining room—there are exhibits and story elements tucked into every corner.

If Das Stakehaus is full or too intense, Burning Blade Tavern is another solid pick. It’s more of a bar, but they serve light bites and have an amazing vibe. And if you’d rather keep it light and breezy, Pizza Moon over in Celestial Park is just a short walk away.

You might hop on the Constellation Carousel, which, honestly, is more stunning at night, but still charming in the daylight. There’s rarely a long line here, but it's something to do if you need a break from waiting in long lines.

#4 Afternoon: Wizarding World – Ministry of Magic

After lunch, I head over to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic. Now, here’s where this touring strategy really shines.

By mid-afternoon, the Early Park Admission crowd has moved on, and this part of the park becomes slightly more manageable. I’m not going to sugarcoat it—the lines here are still long. But compared to the 3-hour waits earlier in the day, you’ll be saving a huge chunk of time by arriving now.

Epic Universe Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Epic Unviverse

The main draw is Battle at the Ministry. It’s the park’s flagship dark ride—epic in scale, loaded with effects, and full of jaw-dropping visuals. And while the wait might still be 135 minutes, this strategy means you’re not burning your morning here like everyone else did. That’s a win.

But here’s the thing: this ride goes down—a lot. It’s a technical marvel, but not always a reliable one. I’ve seen it close multiple times a day. Even if the app says it’s down for good, don’t give up. Keep checking. I’ve seen it come back online with zero warning. You just have to stay flexible.

While you’re in this portal, take some time to enjoy the world around you. Harry Potter Ministry of Magic is loaded with incredible detail. If you have an interactive wand, now’s the time to use it. There are magical effects hidden all over the land—just follow the crowds of Harry Potter fans waving sticks at windows.

I usually skip the Le Cirque Arcanus show. I’m not a Harry Potter fan, so this show doesn’t interest me. It’s a great show if you love Harry Potter, or need some air conditioning; otherwise, skip it and continue on.

#5 Evening: Super Nintendo World

As the day winds down, I head to Super Nintendo World. This land is beautiful in the late afternoon light—and even better at dusk. It feels like you’ve stepped straight into a video game. And here’s the good news: by now, the early rush has passed, and wait times start to dip.

First up: Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge. This ride looks incredible, and the queue is one of the best in the park—especially if you're a longtime Nintendo fan. That said… the ride itself? Slightly overrated. Honestly, I think walking through the queue might be the best part.

Load area of Donkey Kong Mine Cart Madness Showing Guest Getting on ride vehicle

Donkey Kong Mine Cart Madness

Wait times should be around 100 minutes now. After that, I always go for Mine Cart Madness—the Donkey Kong coaster. This one is worth the hype. It’s fast, bouncy, and has some really clever effects. The wait here can still hover around 60–70 minutes, even in the evening, but it’s often less than what you’d face earlier in the day.

For something slower-paced, don’t skip Yoshi’s Adventure. This gentle ride gives you an elevated view of the entire land. Even people who hate rides usually enjoy this one. Wait times are usually between 10 and 30 minutes now, compared to 70 minutes first thing in the morning.

Now, let’s talk about the hidden gem: Shadow Showdown.

Most guests don’t even know this exists. After you complete three Power-Up Band mini-games, you unlock access to this interactive finale. You literally use your own shadow to battle villains on a massive screen—it’s clever, fun, and strangely under-the-radar. If you’ve got kids or you just like cool tech, it’s totally worth the time and the price of the Power-Up Band.

And dinner? Toadstool Café. No question. The theme is adorable, and the food is adorable. I love what Universal did here - I mean, look at this toad pizza bowl. And the Toad animations in the windows are hilarious. Watch carefully—those animations go way beyond just looping characters waving at you. Stick around long enough, and you might catch something special.

If Toadstool Cafe is too cute for you, there’s a French-style quick service café in Wizarding World I’ll be honest—I can’t pronounce the name to save my life. But you’ll know it when you see it. Worth a stop. The Oak and Barrel Barbecue Restaurant in Celestial Park is another solid choice.

#6 Final Hour: Re-Rides, Night Views, and That Perfect Shot

The last hour before the park closes is prime time. The crowds thin out, the lights come on, and Epic Universe starts to glow in a way that’s hard to describe.

This is when I go back and re-ride a favorite. Sometimes it’s Stardust Racers, if I can beat the rush. Other times, I’ll wander through the Dark Universe just to take it all in.

If you’re in Dark Universe at night, do not miss the Burning Blade Tavern. Every 15 minutes, the windmill outside erupts into flames—actual fire. I don’t know why it’s so satisfying to watch a windmill burst into flames, but trust me... it is.

For photos and video, I always head back to Celestial Park for the nighttime fountain show. I position myself so that the Helios Grand Hotel is in the background. The view is spectacular, and the reflections off the water make it even better.

Just keep in mind: Even though the park closes at 9 p.m., some ride queues close early. They’ll stop letting guests in if the line is too long. So if you’ve got one more ride in mind, don’t wait too long to queue up.

Recap of My Touring Strategy

Here’s how my day usually plays out—roughly by time. I’ll post a link to my article where you can bookmark this recap and take it with you into the park.

  • 10:00 am – Celestial Park: Stardust Racers, Carousel, fountains

  • 10:30 am – Isle of Berk: Meet Toothless, Wing Gliders, Fyre Drill, Dragon Racers

  • 12:30 pm – Dark Universe: Monsters Unchained, Werewolf coaster, lunch

  • 2:30 pm – Wizarding World: Battle at the Ministry, wand play

  • 5:00 pm – Super Nintendo World: Donkey Kong, Mario Kart, Shadow Showdown, Yoshi, dinner.

  • After 8:00 pm – Walk-throughs, Burning Blade and fountain shows, last re-ride

#7 Final Thoughts and Bonus Tips

This plan is not meant to be a minute-by-minute itinerary for touring Epic Universe. There are too many moving parts and something will likely hijack your day - a ride closure, thunderstorm, someone needs to rest for a while, etcetera. This is a general guide to point you in the right direction for your day.

So to pull this off, you’ve got to stay flexible.

Afternoon thunderstorms? Yeah, they’ll shut down 90% of the park in an instant. Just find cover, grab a snack, and wait it out. Most storms clear within the hour.

And keep an eye on the app—especially for attractions like Battle at the Ministry. That ride is unreliable, but incredible if you catch it when it’s running. Don’t give up just because it says “closed.”

Lastly, if Universal ever sends you a post-visit survey, tell them this: Please keep Epic Universe open later. This park is stunning at night, and closing at 9:00 p.m. is a massive missed opportunity.

So there you have it—my complete, battle-tested strategy for conquering Epic Universe without Early Park Admission. I’ll post a pinned comment with all the Epic Universe height requirements in case you’re traveling with kids.

If you’ve got your own tips or if this strategy worked for you, let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear how your visit went.

My Epic Universe Touring Strategy (No Early Park Admission)

How to spend less time waiting in line at Epic Universe

Planning a trip to Universal’s Epic Universe without Early Park Admission (EPA)? No problem! I have perfected this strategy over multiple visits, so you can spend less time waiting in line. And be sure to catch my bonus insider tips at the end, so you can have even more fun in the park.

Entrance of Epic Universe Theme Park

Epic Universe at Universal Orlando Resort

Epic Universe Key Strategy Tips:

With this plan, you’ll dodge the worst of the crowds, hit every must-do attraction, and soak up the park’s five immersive portals in the smartest order possible.

  • Arrive 30–45 minutes before official park opening.

  • Skip Super Nintendo World and Harry Potter first thing — hotel guests flood it early.

  • Use the Universal Orlando app to join any Virtual Queues, if offered.

  • Leverage Single Rider lines for re-rides or less important attractions. Single rider lines are about half-the posted wait time.

  • Watch for early line closures in the evening, while the park is opened until 9, some lines shut down prior to that.

Touring Strategy (Starting from Celestial Park)

1. Celestial Park (Rope Drop)

Start your day here — it's central and opens directly to all guests. Resist the temptation to ride Harry Potter Battle at the Ministry, it will have a 3-hour wait at regular park opening, thanks to all the EPA guests who flood this attraction first. The same is true for Super Nintendo World. So, let them wait for 3 hours, we are going to outsmart them and ride later, when the wait is half that time.

Stardust racers at epic universe roller coaster coming down a hill

Stardust Racers

Stardust Racers (minimum 48” to ride) – This high-speed dual-launch coaster is a must-do and best tackled first. But I also recommend trying to ride it again at night. Keep in mind that as soon as the sun goes down, everyone flocks to the ride to experience it in the dark. So the wait time can jump up rapidly. They may even close the queue before 9 pm if the line gets too long. This ride typically has a 20-30 minute wait throughout most of the day.

Constellation Carousel – A whimsical ride you can do now or loop back to later. There’s hardly a long wait throughout most of the day. Try it during the day, and again at night.

Take a moment to watch the fountain shows, too.

2. How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk

Great theming and interactive fun await here mid-morning. While most people are rushing to Super Nintendo World and Harry Potter, Isle of Berk is relatively uncrowded. Isle of Berk is 95% outside, which means you won’t have any air conditioning breaks here except for the theater show, The Untrainable Dragon. So visit in the morning when temps are cooler than Orlando’s surface-of-the-sun afternoon temperatures. Along with thunderstorms. (More on thunderstorms coming up.)

universal orlando mobile app showing wait times for Dragon Racer's Rally and Hiccup's Wing Gliders

Meet and Greet with Toothless - Meet Toothless, the beloved dragon from the How to Train Your Dragon series. This experience lets guests get up close with the friendly, animated Night Fury in a dynamic environment that offers photo opportunities and memorable interactions. The wait can easily reach 75 minutes, so if this is a must-do, head here first.

Hiccup’s Wing Gliders (minimum 40” to ride) – A thrilling family coaster, one of the most popular rides in Epic Universe.

Fyre Drill – Prepare to get super wet in this playful boat battle. Wait times remain pretty short until afternoon.

The Untrainable Dragon Show – Check the showtimes and work it into your day. I like to save this one for mid-afternoon when the park is hottest and I need a break, but if you don’t want to come back to this area, see the show any time.

3. Dark Universe

Hit this land in early afternoon and have lunch here.

Curse of the Werewolf (minimum 40” to ride) – Start with this coaster. It’s popular, and the line builds throughout the day. Especially when people start leaving Super Nintendo World, it’s a spooky family coaster, not too wild. Stay alert in the barn - and be sure to look up!

Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment (minimum 48” to ride) – One of the park’s most ambitious dark rides. I think this is the best ride in the park. Wait times are generally short for this ride throughout the day, often as low as 10 minutes, but may go as high as 35 minutes. The indoor queue is fantastic and you’ll have lots to look at.

inside das steakhaus at epic universe

Das Steakhaus is my recommended restaurant for lunch and/or dinner at Epic Universe

Consider Das Stakehaus for lunch. Das Steakhaus is one of the best restaurants I’ve ever experienced in a theme park. The food and atmosphere are outstanding. Be sure to take a moment to walk around the restaurant at the numerous exhibits. You’ll notice that vampires here are depicted as heroes rather than villains, which is such a creative take.

I also recommend Burning Blade Tavern. It’s a bar first, but they do have a light menu as well. It draws mostly adults but kids are welcome too.

Burning Blade Tavern erupts every 15 minutes

If these restaurants are a little too dark for you, consider Pizza Moon located nearby in Celestial Park.

4. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic

Arrive after EPA traffic has moved on. Now this will be far from a walk-on attraction; you’re still going to have quite a wait here. But remember that you’re waiting less with the strategy.

Battle at the Ministry (minimum 40” to ride) – A massive, complex dark ride with a jaw-dropping queue. This is far and away the flagship attraction in the park - when it’s not down, that is. This is an ambitious engineering marvel, and it goes down several times a day. The tip here is to check the app for live updates. Even if the app says it’s closed for the day, keep checking. It may still come back up - I’ve seen this happen on several occasions.

While in Wizarding World, you can do things like play with your interactive wand, explore the shops, and grab a Butter Bear or wizarding snack.

If you’re not a Harry Potter fan, you can skip the show, Le Cirque Arcanus. On the other hand, if you need some air conditioning and a place to relax, by all means, go inside. You’ll find show times on the Universal Orlando app.

5. Super Nintendo World

Visit late afternoon when crowds move on to other portals. It’s also a beautiful portal to visit at dusk. So be sure to return for a walkthrough and to take some great photos.

Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge (minimum 40” to ride) – Expect a wait; likely the ride itself might be a little overrated. I think walking through the queue is better than the ride itself. There are so many things to look at, and if you’re a Nintendo fan, prepare to be blown away. If there’s an impending thunderstorm on the horizon, you get in line to ride out the storm; the queue is all indoors.

Mine Cart Madness (minimum 36” to ride) is a high-energy roller coaster that plunges you into a wild, twisting adventure through an abandoned mine. Wait times hover around 70 minutes throughout the day but tend to drop off some in late afternoon.

Entrance of super nintendo world at epic universe overlooking the entire land

Super Nintendo World at Epic Universe

Yoshi’s Adventure (minimum 34” to ride) – This slow-moving ride takes you above Super Nintendo World, and is one that most people can do. Even those people who hate rides will enjoy this one. It usually has a short wait time compared to other rides in the park - usually 20- 30 minutes or maybe even less.

While in Nintendo World, play interactive Power-Up Band games - yes, you’ll need to purchase them. And here’s a little secret.

After you complete 3 games, you can enter Shadow Showdown, one of the most overlooked attractions at Epic Universe. I can’t tell you how many people I talked to who have no idea this is even a thing. They just play the games and then leave I guess. Shadow Showdown is another interactive game where you play a high-tech video game using your shadow. I think it’s one of the best things here.

Toadstool Café, try this one for dinner, or even if you just grab a snack. It’s pretty cool inside. Keep an eye on the Toad animations in the windows. They are hilarious, and they don’t just run on a short, repetitive loop. I won’t spoil any surprises, but just keep an eye on these windows for some special things that may happen during your visit.

And if Toadstool Cafe is your thing, try the French-inspired cafe in Wizarding World. I can’t pronounce the name, so that’s why I’m just saying the cafe in Wizarding World - you can’t miss it.

Helios Grand Hotel at Epic Universe lit up at nighttime

Helios Grand Hotel at dusk from inside Epic Universe

6. Final Hour: Re-Ride and Explore

The last hour of park operation is prime time for low waits and photo ops.

Watch the nighttime fountain/fireworks show in Celestial Park. Position yourself so that the Helios Grand Hotel is in the background. You’ll get some great photos and video.

Dark Universe is especially worth seeing at night. Be sure to catch the Burning Blade Tavern erupt into flames. It happens every 15 minutes. I don’t know why it’s so cool to watch a windmill burst into flames, but it is. And you shouldn’t miss it.

Or grab a re-ride on your favorite, just keep in mind that most of the park-goers will head to Stardust Racers during this time.

Epic Universe Touring Summary

  • 10:00 am Celestial Park: Stardust Racers

  • 10:30 am Isle of Berk: Wing Gliders, Fyre Drill, Dragon Racer Rally

  • 12:30 pm Dark Universe: Monsters Unchained, Werewolf, lunch

  • 2:30 pm Wizarding World: Battle at the Ministry, Interactive Wand Play

  • 5:00 pm Super Nintendo World: Mario Kart, Donkey Kong: Mine Cart Madness, Yoshi’s Adventure, Power-up Band interactive play. Shadow Showdown, dinner (Possibly Toadstool Cafe)

  • After 8:00 pm, walk-throughs of Celestial Park, Dark Universe, and re-ride a favorite (possibly Stardust Racers).

Final Thoughts and a Few Tips

This strategy works counterintuitively and against all those who have the EPA advantage. You will see everything you want to see, and save time in line.

The most important consideration here is that the park closes early, at 9 pm, which is right after sunset in the summer. This is a shame because Epic Universe has the best lighting package of any theme park I have ever experienced. If you get a survey about your park visit, tell them you want it opened later.

You also need to stay flexible - afternoon thunderstorms pretty much shut the park down. 90% of the attractions will not run if storms are in the area. So just find a dry place to sit and relax, and wait for it to pass. Storms are usually gone in less than an hour.

Keep in mind that some attraction queues may close earlier than 9 pm. This is so they don’t have a 2-hour wait when they are trying to close the park.

Unfortunately, some of the attractions and shows in Epic Universe experience a lot of downtime. Harry Potter: Battle at the Ministry is the worst. It goes down several times a day. The best advice I can give is to keep checking the app for status updates. Just pack your patience on this one.

Top 10 Magical Places to Take Family Photos at Disney World

My Top 10 Secret spots to take great photos at Walt Disney World!

Everyone wants to capture that perfect Disney World moment or an Instagram-worthy scene, but it’s not easy coming up with something unique. Lighting, crowds, and background clutter—they all make a difference.

I share all 10 of my secret photo spots at Walt Disney World in my YouTube Video but here’s a quick list you can use if you’re visiting the parks. I’ll sort this list by park to make it easy. You can bookmark this page on your phone and take it with you:

Animal Kingdom

Expedition Everest from Flame Tree Barbecue

Expedition Everest is one of Animal Kingdom’s most iconic backdrops, and while the bridge and queue offer good shots, my favorite photo spot is the outdoor seating area behind Flame Tree Barbecue. Here, the mountain reflects perfectly in the lagoon below, offering one of the most picturesque and symmetrical views in the park.

It’s surprisingly peaceful here, especially in the morning when the restaurant hasn’t filled up yet. The mountain, sky, and water combine for a beautifully layered composition.

But the best time to visit is in late afternoon, when the sun is making everything look golden. Avoid peak dining hours, as the area gets more crowded, which can make it harder to maneuver around to get the best angle. If you're using a phone, switch to wide-angle mode or step back and zoom out to get the entire mountain in the frame. Make sure to include the reflection—it adds symmetry and interest to your shot.

Watch my YouTube video where I show you all the best photo locations in detail:

Tree of Life on Discovery Island Trail and Upcountry Landing

One of the most overlooked yet incredible photo locations in all of Animal Kingdom is along the Discovery Island Trail near the base of the Tree of Life. Most guests snap their Tree of Life photos from the bridge leading into the park or the central hub—but if you take the path that winds around the tree’s roots, you’ll find yourself face-to-face with its intricate carvings and textured bark. The walkway is shaded and quiet, with far fewer people than the main walkways, giving you the freedom to compose a family shot without distractions in the background. Even on the busiest days, there’s usually no one down here.

This is the best place to appreciate the full detail of the Tree of Life. The trail winds close to the tree itself, and depending on your angle, you can position your family in front of carvings of animals. It’s a completely different view than what most people see and makes for a more personal, intimate photo.

Another excellent location is Upcountry Landing, on the trail between Africa and Asia - just across from the Feathered Friends in Flight show. From this dock, you get a wider view of the Tree of Life with the river in the foreground. It’s especially striking in the morning or just before sunset, when the warm light hits the tree’s carved details and the water reflects the image beautifully.

Both of these spots provide not just quieter environments for photography, but angles that bring out the artistry of Animal Kingdom’s centerpiece. These areas might require a little exploring—but the payoff is a one-of-a-kind family photo you won’t get anywhere else.

EPCOT

Morocco Pavilion and the Fez House

The Morocco Pavilion is one of EPCOT’s most detailed and immersive environments, and it offers some of the most unique photo opportunities in all of World Showcase. What makes this pavilion stand out is the level of theming—it's filled with intricate architecture, authentic tile work, and winding pathways that transport you to another place entirely. Whether you're visiting during the day or at night, this pavilion delivers stunning backdrops for family photos.

One hidden gem within the pavilion is the Fez House, located just to the left as you enter deeper into the pavilion. It’s easy to miss, but step through the archway and you'll find yourself in a peaceful, tiled room with a gorgeous central fountain. The vibrant mosaics and arched entryways provide a richly textured setting that feels worlds away from the rest of the park.

This area is shaded and often very quiet, which makes it perfect for portraits and group photos without a lot of foot traffic. The natural lighting from the open-air ceiling softly illuminates the space, highlighting the detailed tile work and providing a warm glow.

Outside the Fez House, the pavilion's narrow alleys and courtyards are full of visual interest—from lanterns and carved wooden doors to decorative pottery and colorful textiles. These winding paths are fun to explore and ideal for capturing candid moments. At night, the area takes on a romantic, softly lit atmosphere with glowing lanterns and warm tones that make evening photos just as magical.

Whether you’re posing in front of the ornate archways or simply strolling the side streets with your family, Morocco is a pavilion that turns every corner into a beautiful photo backdrop. Don’t rush through it—take the time to explore and you’ll find countless opportunities for memorable shots.

Japan Pavilion Second Floor by Teppan Edo

For an elevated perspective at EPCOT, I always head to the second floor of the Japan Pavilion. Up the stairs near Mitsukoshi, right outside Teppan Edo and Tokyo Dining, there’s a terrace that offers a stunning view over the World Showcase Lagoon.

From here, you can line up Spaceship Earth directly in the background. That is a great shot and not too many people make the trek upstairs to get it. The combination of traditional Japanese architectural elements like the bright red Tori Gate, in the foreground and EPCOT’s futuristic sphere in the distance gives your photo a unique contrast.

But I want to draw your attention to something even better. Instead of facing the lagoon from up here, turn the other way toward the white Japanese castle instead. It’s modeled after the White Egret Castle in Japan.

You can take photos anytime here but Sunset is the ideal time to visit this location. Just as the sun sets, and the lights come on, but before the sky is completely dark. And you can catch Spaceship Earth lit up during this time, reflecting the light beautifully in the distance.

While in Japan pavilion, try experimenting with elements like lanterns or water features in your photo. This terrace provides a unique view with minimal foot traffic.

Spaceship Earth from Inside Journey of Water

Journey of Water has quickly become one of my favorite new additions to EPCOT—and not just for the attraction itself. As you move through the exhibit, several openings reveal fantastic framed views of Spaceship Earth through the mist and greenery.

These natural frames—waterfalls, archways, and foliage—add depth to the photo and help isolate Spaceship Earth in a way that feels both modern and organic. It’s an ideal location for a unique EPCOT family shot that doesn’t look like the typical entrance photo. But there is one problem here - it’s going to be difficult to get this shot without other people in them.

So I recommend coming back at night when both Journey of Water and Spaceship earth are lit up. And this attraction is usually less crowded at night, so it’s a great time to explore it anyway.

And if you want a great shot of Spaceship Earth without others int he background, there’s a secret spot I found. You’ll find it on the walkway that passes between Spaceship Earth and Journey of Water. It’s a little service area that everyone walks by. But you’ll get a very unique photo of the geodesic sphere framed with a beautiful mix of EPCOT’s natural and futuristic theming – a moment worth capturing for sure.

China Pavilion Gardens

The China Pavilion in EPCOT’s World Showcase offers one of the most tranquil and visually stunning backdrops for family photos—especially when you head into the side gardens rather than staying in the main thoroughfare. Tucked away from the crowds, the gardens feature winding paths, ornate bridges, koi ponds, and traditional Chinese architecture that combine to create a peaceful and photogenic setting.

One of the best angles is near the moon gate or across the small pond, where the reflections of the red pagoda and rock formations add visual interest. The side gardens are especially beautiful during the golden hour, when the sun casts warm light across the lanterns and tiled rooftops. This soft lighting flatters skin tones and adds natural vibrance to your shots.

What I like most about this spot is the serenity. It’s often overlooked, which means fewer people walking through your frame and more time to set up your shot. It’s a peaceful oasis that captures both the beauty of the World Showcase and the personal joy of your trip—and one of recommended spots for a photo that feels authentically Disney without being overly obvious.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Sunset Boulevard Near Tower of Terror (Hollywood Studios)

Tower of Terror might be the most dramatic icon in any Disney park, and you’ll find one of the best photo locations just outside the Beverly Sunset Boutique, facing down Sunset Boulevard. From this spot, you can capture the towering hotel framed by palm trees and vintage streetlamps, giving your photo both scale and atmosphere. And while this is a great photo, it’s been done.

But I have a few great photo spots that few people know about. The first, head to the courtyard by Rock n Roller Coaster - specifically over by the exit to the ride. There, you’ll catch Tower of Terror rising out of the tree line and you may even catch the elevator doors open if you time it right. Now it might be harder to take a family photo here, this is more about just taking a great picture of the tower itself. Dusk or Nightime would be best for this shot while the tower is lit up. I would use Sunset Boulevard for the family photo and this location for a great photo of the tower.

Another unique spot is the in the courtyard just as you exit Tower of Terror. Turn around and look up, you’ll see a new side of Tower, that most people never notice. I mean who would think to stop and look up here? But for those who do, you get a unique photo.

YOu can also get some great photos of Tower of Terror right from the outside queue area. You’ll capture just how tall it is from here, and you’ll get a great mix of natural elements like plants and trees with the tower rising up out of them.

In the late afternoon or even at dusk, the lighting turns golden, casting a beautiful glow across the façade and down the boulevard. It’s a cinematic look that matches the attraction’s Hollywood theme perfectly. If you're lucky, you may even catch a glimpse of the elevator doors opening at the top, adding a dynamic touch to your shot.

Avoid midday when the area is brightest unless you’re shooting during a cloudy day. The moody skies just add to the Hollywood horror vibe.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and the Millennium Falcon at Night (Hollywood Studios)

For one of the most awe-inspiring and cinematic backdrops in all of Walt Disney World, head to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge after sunset. The Millennium Falcon, parked in front of Ohnaka Transport Solutions, becomes even more impressive at night. With its glowing lights, steam effects, and ambient sounds, it feels like stepping into a movie—and your photos will show it.

What makes this photo spot special is how immersive the setting becomes once the sun goes down. The lighting highlights every detail on the Falcon, from its weathered panels to the blinking lights on its engines. Position your family in the center of the courtyard just in front of the ship, keeping some distance so you can capture the entire starship in frame. You’ll want to take a wide-angle shot here if possible.

Even though Galaxy’s Edge gets crowded, nighttime tends to thin out the traffic a bit. Wait a few minutes between groups to grab a shot with fewer people. Night mode on phones works well here, or you can stabilize your camera on a trash can or bench to keep things sharp.

This is also one of the few spots where candid photos work just as well as posed ones. Let your family interact naturally—pretend to inspect the ship, talk to a cast member, or look up at the spires around Black Spire Outpost. You’ll come away with images that feel less like theme park photos and more like a real Star Wars adventure.

Magic Kingdom

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure from the Adventureland Side (Magic Kingdom)

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is the latest attraction at Magic Kingdom, and it brings a refreshing change to the park’s landscape. Most guests crowd around the front entrance, but one of my favorite angles is from the Adventureland side. As you walk from the Jungle Cruise or Magic Carpets of Aladdin toward Frontierland, you’ll find a spot where Tiana’s Foods water tower peeks above the trees.

This view is cleaner, less crowded, and includes beautiful foliage that naturally frames the scene. Depending on the time of day, you might even catch a log flume coming down the drop. What I love about this angle is that it feels like a true discovery, not something everyone else is capturing.

If you visit in the morning, you’ll benefit from warm, golden lighting that filters through the trees. This not only adds a natural glow to your photo but also softens shadows on faces, making it perfect for portraits. Experiment with portrait mode on your phone to create a slight blur effect in the background—this draws the eye toward your family. For the best composition, try shooting from a lower angle so you can include more of the sky and the upper portion of the attraction, giving your photo more visual depth.

Main Street USA with Cinderella Castle (Magic Kingdom)

It doesn’t get more iconic than a family photo on Main Street USA with Cinderella Castle in the background. But instead of stopping right in the middle of the street like everyone else, I recommend finding one of the quieter alcoves—like the sides of the Castle. There are quite a few unique ways to shoot the castle, without having a ton of people in them.

The first is on the Tomorrowland Bridge, just off the hub. If you’re here in the morning, the sun will be rising behind you if you’re facing the castle. This also a great spot after the sun goes down.

Second, try the other side over by the entrance to Liberty Sqaure, right next to Sleepy Hollow.

You can try both locations during the day and at night. You’ll need to work around the rising or setting sun here.

If you really want to try something different, go to the front of the castle and look for the castle archways. Take a lower position, maybe crouch down and angle your camera up. You’ll get the arch in the foreground with the castle behind it, creating a very dramatic and unique shot and hopefully not to many people in it.

These spots give you fewer crowds and an off-center view of the castle that feels more unique. Early morning rope drop or the last hour before park close are your best bets for clean shots.

And if you want that Main Street Shot, You can even ask a PhotoPass photographer to use your own camera for free. Ask them to shoot from a low angle to get the full castle and sky behind you—just be clear about the framing you want. Although they are pretty about coming up with ideas of their own as well. You may also want to have them take a few with their camera. This is the quintessential Disney photo, so it might be worth it to purchase a one or two here.

Piston Peak National Park Builds on the Story of Frontierland

As summer approaches and work intensifies, significant changes are coming to the Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Liberty Square Riverboat. These beloved attractions will be closed starting July 7 for enhancements and upgrades.

But that’s not all happening at the Magic Kingdom. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will reopen next year with new magic, promising to enhance the classic ride experience.

This summer, Disney Starlight will make its grand debut in the park on July 20, providing guests with a spectacular nighttime show that celebrates the magic of Disney.

Additionally, The Beak and Barrel is set to welcome pirates of all ages, offering themed dining experiences that will immerse families in the adventurous spirit of the high seas.

8 Things Smart Disney World Visitors Always Do

How the pros do Disney World - 8 insider tips.

As an Orlando local, I get to experience Disney World at its best… and its most chaotic. And I have learned that the difference between a trip you’ll remember for a lifetime—and one you’ll want to forget—often comes down to just a few smart decisions. Many of them need to be made before you even set foot in Walt Disney World.

cinderella castle at walt disney world

Let’s begin with the one decision that shapes everything else.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned over time—one thing I didn’t fully appreciate on my first few trips—it’s this:

#8 Where you stay… matters.

Not just the name of the resort. Not just the price tag. But the actual location, layout, and room category. All of it.

See this content on my YouTube channel now:

Disney World is massive. And your resort experience can either make your trip feel effortless, or leave you constantly trying to catch up.

In the beginning, I made the same mistake a lot of people make: I booked the cheapest room I could find. I figured I wouldn’t be in the room much anyway.

But here’s what I didn’t realize.  the pros know that the resort is part of the magic. And the right room—at the right resort—completely changes how a day at Disney feels.

Let’s talk location.

One of my subscribers mentioned in a video I posted that he books his hotel closest to where he will be spending most of his time. So if that’s Magic Kingdom for a holiday party, that might mean a Monorail resort—like the Polynesian, Grand Floridian, or Contemporary. Waking up, grabbing coffee, and gliding into the park in under 15 minutes? Theres nothing like it.

Same goes for EPCOT, maybe for the Food and Wine and Festival. Within walking distance are Disney’s Boardwalk Inn, yacht and Beach Club or the the Skyliner Resorts like—Caribbean Beach and Pop Century.

But it’s not just about which resort—it’s where in that resort.

Room category makes a difference.

Garden view vs. theme park view. Standard location vs. preferred.
A room closer to the lobby or transportation might save me 15 to 20 minutes of walking multiple times a day. That adds up. And when you’ve got strollers or tired legs, that shorter walk feels like a gift.

Theme park views are more than just a splurge—they're an experience.
Watching fireworks from my balcony, hearing the distant music of Happily Ever After while in pajamas, sipping coffee as the sun rises over the castle in the distance… it’s surreal. It stays with you.

Even at moderate and value resorts, the right room location matters.
At places like Caribbean Beach or Coronado Springs, where things are more spread out, choosing a preferred room can save serious steps—and serious time. I have several videos on the best room locations at the Disney Moderate resorts, I linked them below.

And here’s a little tip I’ve learned:
If you're staying somewhere like Disney Springs or Flamingo Crossings, those spots might not have monorail access or in-park views… but they can still be magical. Some of them offer spacious rooms, and free breakfast. They’re especially great for longer stays, or when I want more amenities for the same price as a Disney Value Resort.

But whatever the choice, smart disney world travelers do not to treat the hotel as an afterthought.

#7 Arrive Early. Earlier than you think.

If there’s one decision that shapes the entire arc of my Disney day… it’s this one. I arrive early. Earlier than I think I need to. And then I plan for delays on top of that.

Because if you want a smooth, high-impact, low-stress Disney day—especially during peak seasons—early arrival is the golden ticket.

Let me break it down.

Staying at a Disney resort? Great. That gives you Early Theme Park Entry—30 minutes before the official park opening. But here’s the thing: if you show up right at that 30-minute mark, you’re already late.

I aim to arrive at the park gates at least 45 minutes before Early Entry even begins. So if Early Entry is at 8 a.m.? I’m walking through security by 7:15. It sounds extreme, but that head start lets me walk onto one or two of the biggest rides before the crowds pour in.

And here’s where most people get tripped up: transportation. Disney buses, boats, and Skyliner all say they start running 45 minutes before park open—but those first buses can be full, delayed, or randomly spaced. So I budget 45 to 60 extra minutes just for transit, even if I’m staying onsite.

Most longer bus rides are around 15 minutes but you also need to factor in waiting for the bus to arrive, which can add 20 minutes. Need to know how to get around Disney World? I have a great video for that too - i posted the link below.

Once I’m inside the park, it’s like being in another world. The walkways are calm. The music sounds great. Cast members are greeting guests. This is when I get those empty park photos, walk onto a headliner attraction, and sometimes, squeeze in two rides while novices are having a big breakfast.

But it doesn’t stop there.

Dining reservations? Smart travelers know to check in 15 minutes early—always. It allows you to request a window seat or to just get seated faster.

Fireworks viewing? The pros scout thier spot an hour in advance if they want a good one—especially if they’re  aiming for Main Street or in front of the castle. People start camping out early, and it fills up fast.

Knowing your park hours also matters.
Magic Kingdom usually closes at 9 or 10 p.m., but there are nights—especially with events like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary or Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party—when it shuts down as early as 6 p.m.
If you didn’t plan ahead, that can be a big surprise. Years ago the parks were opens late, often midnight, or even 1am but those days are long gone.

I prefer longer even hours because it’s so hot in th summer months. We would go in after the sun went down and have several hours of cooler park time. But now the parks close shortly after sunset in the summer.

So smart Disney World travelers start looking for park hours about 6 weeks in advance that’s about the tim Disney posts them.

Here’s the bottom line:

I’d rather start early, ride what I love, and take a midday break… than sleep in and spend the whole day in lines, frustrated, and chasing the clock.

And by the way, I make videos about Orlando vacations. Subscribe to my channel now so you can have more fun.

#6 Plan a Resort Day

This is the tip I used to ignore—and honestly, I regret it.

In the early days, every trip was a full-speed sprint. Rope drop to fireworks, park after park, day after day. I thought if I wasn’t going full throttle, I was wasting the trip. But all that did was wear me down. And worse? I missed out on one of the most underrated experiences Disney has to offer.

The resorts.

See, smart travelers build in one full resort day every trip. No park reservations. No plans beyond sleeping in a little, grabbing breakfast at a relaxed pace, and then… just seeing where the day takes them.

Because Disney resorts aren’t just places to sleep. They’re destinations.

Whether I’m at a sprawling deluxe like Animal Kingdom Lodge—with savannah views and fire pits—or a charming moderate like Port Orleans French Quarter with its lantern-lit pathways and boat rides to Disney Springs… the atmosphere alone is worth savoring.

Themed pools are often better than the ones at water parks.
Seriously. At the Yacht and Beach Club, there’s a full-on sand-bottom pool with a lazy river and a slide built into a shipwreck. At Art of Animation, there’s the massive Big Blue Pool with underwater music—yes, music under the water.

Then there are the activities. I’ve stumbled upon poolside trivia, arts and crafts, scavenger hunts… even marshmallow roasting. And at night? Movies Under the Stars.

It’s this magical, low-key moment where kids curl up in beach chairs or on blankets under the sky, watching Disney classics while parents sip something cold and just breathe.

You start to realize: this is Disney too. Not just the rides. Not just the parades. But this quiet joy. This slower pace. This space to just exist inside the magic.

And here’s the bonus: a resort day gives your legs a break, your energy a reset, and your mind a chance to fall back in love with where you are.

It’s the breath between the chapters. The pause that makes the next park day even better.

So yeah… the smartest Disney visitors I know? They plan a day to do “nothing.” And it turns out… it’s everything.

#5 Use the My Disney Experience App

This one’s a no-brainer, but you’d be surprised how many guests don’t download the mobile app, or worse, don’t use it to its fullest potential.

The My Disney Experience app is a game-changer. It’s the Swiss Army knife of Disney park planning. And I use it for almost everything.

using the my disney experience app at disney world

First thing’s first: mobile ordering. I skip the lines at quick-service spots by ordering meals, snacks, and drinks ahead of time. Just tap on the app, customize my order, and set a pick-up window. When I walk up, it’s ready. No waiting. No “I’m hungry” meltdowns.

Then there’s the app’s integration with Lightning Lanes. I’ve got all my reservations in the app. I can adjust, cancel, or add new selections with a tap of my finger. And if there’s a ride I really want to do, I can adjust my plans on the fly to work it in.

It’s also where I track my Memory Maker photos. If I’m taking ride photos, character meet-and-greets, or candid shots—bam, they’re saved to my account.

And don’t even get me started on tickets. I no longer need to buy expensive magic bands. I just pull my phone out of my pocket, tap it on the scanner, and I’m in. And I can manage everyone’ tickets and lightning lane passes from one phone.

Honestly, I don’t know how people do Disney without the app. It’s like having a personal assistant in your pocket.

#4 Buy Lightning Lane!

At some point, you’ll have to make a choice: Stand in long lines all day, or spend a little more to make the wait times disappear.

Look, I get it. I used to be skeptical of the Lightning Lane. But trust me—after one trip where I skipped it? I regretted it. Big time.

You’ll see the wait times—sometimes over an hour or two—and that’s not even counting the ride breakdowns or the “technical difficulties.” Meanwhile, Lightning Lane guests? They’re zooming past you with a smile on their faces.

Yes it is an extra expense and yes it used to be free, but if you care about your time and the overall vibe of your trip—just buy it.

Because after all, there’s only so much time in a Disney day. And I’d rather not spend it standing still. Not when I can be riding more, enjoying more, and doing more.

#3 Book Everything Early

I can’t stress this enough: book early. Smart travelers want the best prices, the best options, and the best availability—so they book in advance.

They start by making their hotel reservations the moment they can. If you’re familiar with cruising, this is the same idea. As far as I’m concerned, staying onsite at Disney is a huge part of the experience.

Then comes dining reservations.

The smart ones lock those in 60 days before they arrive. Disney restaurants can get full fast, and the popular ones—like Beaches and Cream or Ohana at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort? They’re gone before you can blink. So, I make my list early and get everything set before it’s time to log in and make the reservations.

quick service restaurant at disney's cornado springs resort

But it’s not just dining.
I also make my Lightning Lane reservations 7 days before my visit. Disney gives you a 7-day window to secure your top picks, and I take full advantage of it. Fast passes are a thing of the past—Lightning Lanes are the way to keep your day flowing smoothly.

And here’s a bonus: any discounts? I apply them as soon as they become available. That way, I get the best price without sacrificing the experience. And if you use a travel agent, like the ones at Magical Vacations Travel, they will do this for you automatically, so you don’t have to pay attention to offers yourself.

Here’s the truth about Disney world discounts and offers. They are usually very limited. While they seem like these big broad offers that span several months, there are really a limited number of offers earmarked for each hotel and room category per night. And when they reach capacity - that’s it. You’re back to paying full price or having to change hotels.

#2 Stay On Disney World Property and Explore More than Just the Parks

A lot of people think staying at Disney resorts is just for the proximity to the parks—and that’s definitely part of it. But the resorts offer a whole lot more.

From the theming to the convenience, staying onsite gives you access to everything that makes Disney special. Whether it’s shopping at Disney Springs, grabbing a bite at a resort restaurant, or catching a movie under the stars, there’s so much to do beyond the theme parks.

People who travel to Orlando often, know that disney world property is beautiful, but once you leave Disney, you’re facing an incredible amount of traffic. Sometimes the traffic to leave Disney after the parks close backs up for several miles. It can easily take an extra 60-90 minutes to leave property - especially if you’re headed to Davenport or Kissimmee.

Then there’s the shady businesses that surround disney, the tourist traps and chain restaurants.

Smart travelers stay on site because they are immersed in teh Disney magic 24/7. For more budget friendly options you can check out Flamingo Crossings, a new hotel and dining district - located on Disney property near Animal Kingdom, and of course all the hotels in Disney Springs.

#1 When to Go to Walt Disney World

Smart travelers choose the best times time visit Walt Disney World. But when is that?

Alright, let’s talk about one of the biggest questions people have when planning a Disney World trip—when should you go? And honestly, the answer totally depends on what matters most to you: low crowds, good weather, or special events. If you’re looking to avoid shoulder-to-shoulder crowds, aim for mid-January through early February or late August into September—those are the sweet spots when most kids are in school and the parks feel way more relaxed.

But keep in mind, Florida weather can be wild. Summer brings the heat and those classic afternoon thunderstorms, while winter might surprise you with a chilly morning or two. So, do a little research, check crowd calendars, and decide what trade-offs you’re comfortable with. Trust me, a little planning here goes a long way in making your trip way more magical. Have you ever tried going during a “low crowd” week? It’s a total game changer.

So that’s it—eight things smart people always do on a Walt Disney World trip. Do you have a good tip for Walt Disney World? Share it with us in the comments below!

Hidden Details Inside Disney's Beak and Barrel Pirate Lounge

Disney shares the backstory of the new pirate bar coming to Magic Kingdom.

Disney released details about its newest pirate lounge opening soon at Magic Kingdom, the Beak and Barrel. This unique establishment was established by the legendary pirate rumrunner, Captain Meridian “Merry” Goldwyn, and her talkative first mate, Rummy.

This is an interesting choice - to choose a female pirate as the central character. Sure, it’s possible, but when we think of pirates, are we more likely to think of a Captain Jack Sparrow type? But then again, maybe that would have been too cliché.

As Merry’s trusted companion, Rummy takes on the role of quartermaster, keeping a vigilant watch over the tavern from his high perch atop the bar.

beak and barrel

Rummy is more than just a mascot; he’s a dutiful crewman to his beloved Merry, making sure everything is ship-shape while sharing tales of piracy and leading the bar in a rousing toast or two.

Keen observers may notice that Rummy bears a striking resemblance to the original Barker Bird that once greeted guests at the entrance to the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, creating a charming nod to Disney history.

beak and barrel parrot- barker bird

The lounge's central area was once the mess hall for Spanish soldiers and is now appropriately named “The Cove.” Here, a large bar serves as the centerpiece of the room, skillfully cobbled together from salvaged portions of a cursed shipwreck. Its skull-shaped stern boasts an impressive collection of grogs and brews, enticing guests to indulge in the pirate spirit.

Among the bar's highlights is the Enchanted Rum Bottle, a gift from the enchantress Tia Dalma to Merry. This mystical bottle seems to serve as the source of the tavern’s specialty brews. Patrons may spot Rummy hobbling along the bar’s ledge, greeting visitors and keeping a watchful eye on the crew while Merry is away, enhancing the immersive experience for guests.

beak-and-barrel

For those seeking a touch of luxury, the Captains’ Quarters offers a more refined experience. Once the living quarters for the Spanish Comandante, this area is adorned with fine artwork and elegant drapery. However, traces of its tumultuous history are evident; slashing blades and burn marks reflect the rambunctious nature of pirate life. In some places, faded spots on the walls are all that remain of now-plundered portraits, adding layers of storytelling to this hidden gem.

magic kingdom pirate bar

Above the fireplace in the Captains’ Quarters, five miniature ships in glass bottles are mounted, each rumored to represent pirates from all corners of the world banding together to defeat tyranny. These mysterious bottles have a history of coming alive, delighting guests and adding an air of wonder to the lounge.

Every corner of Beak and Barrel is brimming with history and hidden details that reflect the adventurous spirit of its characters. Whether it's Rummy’s playful antics or the enchanting artifacts throughout the lounge, Beak and Barrel offers a treasure trove of experiences for every visitor to discover.

Disney has not yet announced when the Beak and Barrel will open in Magic Kingdom. I would bet on a late fall opening in 2025 based on the information that I have seen so far.

Helios Grand Hotel at Universal Orlando: Full Review & Tour

Explore Universal Orlando’s new Helios Grand Hotel near Epic Universe. Get a full tour, review, and travel tips for your next family vacation.

Touring Universal's New Helios Grand Hotel at Epic Universe: Full Review

Universal Orlando has opened the doors to one of its most stunning and anticipated hotel projects yet: the Helios Grand Hotel, located just steps from the gates of the all-new Epic Universe theme park. I recently spent a full day and night experiencing everything this hotel has to offer—from the celestial-inspired design and rooftop views to the exclusive private park entrance and poolside relaxation. In this post, I’ll walk you through the highlights, surprises, and honest impressions from my stay.

If you prefer a video tour, be sure to check out my full walkthrough on YouTube here: [LINK TO VIDEO]

Lobby at the Helios Grand showing natural sunlight

Helios Grand Hotel at Universal Orlando

First Impressions: Arrival at Helios Grand

Pulling up to the Helios Grand, it’s immediately clear this is not your typical theme park hotel. The architecture is sleek and modern, with celestial themes woven into every design detail. Golden accents, massive glass panes, and an airy, open feel make for a striking first impression. The hotel’s name, Helios—Greek for the sun—comes to life through abundant natural light and sky-themed motifs throughout the property.

Watch my video on Helios Grand here:

The Lobby: Small But Stylish

Despite its grand name, the Helios Grand’s lobby is relatively modest in size. It’s flooded with daylight and features tall columns, reflective surfaces, and a stunning solar-flare-inspired light fixture. A large central atrium creates an open, modern space, while details like stained glass artwork and subtle nods to astronomy create an upscale but inviting atmosphere.

Check-In & Early Park Admission Access

Check-in during opening weeks was a bit chaotic due to high demand and guests arriving early to access Epic Universe. Luckily, Helios Grand offers early park admission, and all you need is your room key to gain entry through the hotel’s private entrance to Epic Universe. Even if your room isn’t ready, you can still enjoy early access to the park—just grab your key cards and go.

I arrived around 8:30 a.m. to get my room key so that I could utilize Early Park Admission. Dozens of other guests were doing the same thing, and the line was out the door. I checked in online days before, but online check-in at Helios Grand is meaningless. I still had to wait in line, provide my credit card again, my driver’s license, and confirm all my information. What was the point of doing all this on my laptop at home?

The staff at Helios should have a separate line for online check-in, with key cards ready to go in envelopes. All the guests need to do is show their ID and take their envelope. Done.

Why has Helios Grand gone back to the 1990s with its check-in process?

Coffee Stop: Aurora Market

Before heading into the park, I grabbed a cappuccino from Aurora Market, the hotel’s grab-and-go cafe. The space is stylish and modern, offering coffee, pastries, and quick bites in a beautifully designed environment with white tiles, brass fixtures, and natural light.

Aurora market at the helios grand hotel - coffee shop

I went to the warming oven to grab some breakfast sandwiches and coffee. The sandwiches sit on a shelf wrapped in foil, the shelves are labeled with the type of sandwich. For example, “Bacon egg and cheese” or “Egg and Cheese.” Well, the sandwiches were all on the wrong shelves, something that we didn’t realize until after we opened them. I paid $12 each for a bacon, egg, and cheese, but got sandwiches without the bacon. Isn’t bacon the best part?

I returned them to the cashier and selected 3 new sandwiches. These had bacon, but they had a tomato spread on them, which appeared to be mayonnaise-based, and was oozing out of the sandwich. I really don’t like mayo, so this was important to me.

So I had to wait in a long line again, and asked if all the sandwiches had that spread on them. The staff told me there is no spread - it’s just bacon, egg, and cheese. I opened the sandwich and showed them the pale orange goo coming out. It looked like mayo and ketchup. They didn’t know what it was.

I then asked for a refund. They told me it would 3-5 weeks to refund my money due to the account process they have. So I went to the front desk, and they refunded me instantly.

So we skipped breakfast and decided to find a snack in the park.

Super Nintendo World First Thing

Thanks to early admission, I headed straight into Super Nintendo World—one of the most popular lands in Epic Universe. This section often opens before the rest of the park, and arriving early paid off. With fewer crowds and a head start, it was a perfect way to begin the day.

Back at the Hotel: Design Details & Dining

Returning to Helios Grand after the morning rush, I was able to take in more of the hotel’s artistic details. The artwork behind the check-in desk and Universal Vacation Planning Center features stained glass inspired by planetary orbits and flowers.

Across from the lobby is the hotel’s signature restaurant: Flora Taverna, a Mediterranean-inspired dining space with both indoor and outdoor seating and beautiful views of Epic Universe. A wood-fired oven and sophisticated decor make this a standout dining option, though it's worth noting this is the only full-service restaurant on-site.

Fitness Center & Pool Area

To prepare for some pool time, I changed in the fitness center locker rooms—which were bright, well-equipped, and overlooked lush gardens. The fitness area includes cardio equipment, weight training space, and large windows to bring in natural light.

Outside, the pool deck is serene and spacious, with a uniquely curved pool lined by palm trees, private cabanas, and plush loungers. Even with its proximity to Epic Universe’s Dark Universe land, the pool area is calm and relaxing. There’s also a wading area for families and a Lotus Lagoon Bar nearby serving cocktails and small bites.

Hotel Transportation

Helios Grand provides transportation to Universal’s other theme parks and Volcano Bay via a shuttle bus. Buses arrive frequently and drop guests off at CityWalk, making it easy to explore the wider Universal Orlando Resort.

SkyBar: Rooftop Lounge with Epic Views

One of the hotel’s most impressive features is the SkyBar rooftop lounge. After a ride up in an elevator that features celestial projection mapping, guests arrive at a cozy, upscale bar under a domed ceiling with indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor terrace offers panoramic views of the entire Epic Universe theme park, making this a must-visit spot during your stay.

Reservations for SkyBar are highly recommended and may even be required during peak times.

Our Theme Park View Room

Theme park view room, 4th floor

Finally, our theme park view room was ready. Located on the 4th floor, the room featured floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Epic Universe. The view was truly spectacular, especially as the sun set and the park began to glow.

theme park view room at helios grand

The room design is elegant but smaller than I expected. It has gold tones, modern furniture, and thoughtful touches like a built-in desk, a Keurig coffee machine, and automated curtains. While the room was on the smaller side, it was comfortable and stylish. The split bathroom layout with a walk-in shower and backlit vanity was particularly nice.

Bathroom at the helios grand hotel

Overall, it was a nice room, but it didn’t feel like a luxury hotel. Compare it to Disney’s Grand Floridian, Disney’s Beach Club, Universal’s Hard Rock Hotel - and you’ll see the difference. My nightly rate was similar to these hotels. These hotels are within walking distance to theme parks too.

Epic Universe at Night

One of the biggest perks of staying at Helios Grand is the ability to walk back into Epic Universe in the evening. The park comes alive after dark, with lands like Dark Universe and Super Nintendo World offering completely different experiences at night.

Watching the park from our room after 9 PM closing was magical. Seeing guests slowly trickle out while the lights continued to dance in the distance was a peaceful way to end the day.

Morning at Helios Grand

I woke up just before sunrise and took in the quiet beauty of the park from our room. Even at 3 AM, Epic Universe remained illuminated. Downstairs, the lobby and market were calm again, perfect for grabbing a final cappuccino and enjoying the reflective pool before checking out.

Final Thoughts: Is It Worth the Price?

Our theme park view room cost $656 per night, which places the Helios Grand in the same price range as Universal’s Hard Rock Hotel and Portofino Bay—both of which offer complimentary Express Passes to Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure. Helios Grand does not offer Express Pass.

While the room was well-designed, it was also compact, and the layout is nearly identical to rooms at Stella Nova and Terra Luna, which cost around $150 per night. This raises a valid question: is Helios Grand worth the $500 premium?

There are a few missing elements that might make guests think twice—like the limited dining options, no water slide at the pool, and the absence of Express Pass benefits. However, what Helios Grand does offer is a feeling—of calm, convenience, and light-filled beauty. It’s an escape, even while being embedded in the center of the action.

Should You Book Helios Grand?

Book it if:

  • You want the closest hotel to Epic Universe.

  • You value a sophisticated, quiet atmosphere.

  • You’re excited about panoramic park views and rooftop lounges.

Consider alternatives if:

  • You’re looking for more space or family-style accommodations.

  • Express Pass is a priority.

  • You prefer more dining and recreation options on-site.

I Just Spent the Day Touring Epic Universe at Universal Orlando. Here’s How it Went.

Tour Epic Universe with me. You won’t believe what Universal Orlando has created here!

This is Universal’s Epic Universe.
A brand new theme park here in Orlando, Florida.
And today, I’m taking you with me as I walk through it all, one land at a time.

But this isn’t just a tour. I’ll show you exactly what it’s like to visit this theme park from
from soaring roller coasters to dark rides, immersive new lands, and a whole new era of theme park restaurants.

Hello, everyone, and welcome back to the channel. I’m Darren from Orlando ParksGuy.com.

INTRO: CELESTIAL PARK OPENING

I’m arriving at Universal's Epic Universe for Early Park Admission, a perk that I get for staying in a Universal Orlando hotel.[pause]  Today, I have a digital ticket on my phone which will make thighs very easy. A big thank Universal for inviting me. So let's head straight over to the gate. Just like an airport, there’s a brief security check and I breeze right through.

Oh, and Universal is letting guests know that today is a filming day for the park, at first I thought that was just a prop.

Before me, the first portal that will lead us to the heart of Epic Universe - Celestial Park.

The water feature in the center is breathtaking. I mean, this is a theme park, but it’s absolutely unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Just beautiful - and in the background is Unviersal’s newest Signature hotel - the Helios Grand.

Here from here we can go to the left or to the right, this is like a gaint clock, and right now I’m standing at the park entrance, which is in the 6 o’clock position. But something tells me that I should head to the left. Each of the Portals, Like Super Nintendo World and Harry Potter -  Ministry of Magic, are located around the figurative clock.

And look at this, here’s one of the featured restaurants at Epic Universe - Atlantic. I think it's ok to go in so let’s go in and have a look.

The ambiance is unlike anything I’ve experienced, with glowing aquatic colors that make the entire space feel like I’m beneath the sea. The ceiling and walls are adorned with intricate designs inspired by ancient Atlantis. The menu is filled with fresh seafood and steak options, or you can enjoy a drink at the Aquaria Bar.  I can’t help but feel that is something right out of Las Vegas. Oh, and the fish hanging from the ceiling are made with iridescent metal tiles that shimmer when the lights hit them, giving the illusion that you’re underwater.

With Atlantic Restaurant and at least part of Celestial Park crossed off our list, it’s time to continue on.

As I continue to walk to my first portal, I find the Constellation Carousel. Guest carriages include celestial lions, dragons, and peacocks. Each carriage turns 360 degrees while lifting riders up to 6 feet in the air.

Continuing on, it’s a short walk along the water, and there it is - one that I think most people are looking forward to - Super Nintendo World.

SUPER NINTENDO WORLD PORTAL

Of course, this portal is a green warp pipe, straight out of the game. And the escalator is a bit interesting, I mean, when have you entered a land in a theme park that requires you to go up an escalator? The portal bursts with digital sound effects you probably havn’y heard in years, but will recognize immediately. There’s also lighting effects. We finally get to see what it’s like inside an actual warp pipe. At the top, there’s a big reveal. A few more steps, and we’re suddenly in the Mushroom Kingdom.

The kinetic energy here is extraordinary. Every surface moves. Coins spin. Piranha Plants move just like in Super Mario Brothers. The cinematic skybox here is carefully crafted to remove any hint of the real world. And this is just incredible, it's something of an emotional moment for me, I mean this is my childhood right here.

Universal Orlando Super Nintendo World

Super Nintendo World at Epic Universe - Orlando

Super Nintendo World is built for interaction. With a Power-Up Band on my wrist, mine is from my visit to Universal Hollywood in California but you can buy them here or at the Universal hotels. They link to the Universal app on your phone with a quick scan of a QR code.

With the Power-Up Band, I can punch blocks, collect digital coins, and trigger mini-games hidden across the land and keep track of my points in the Universal app.

There are two Headliner attractions here, Mario Kart Bowser’s Challenge and Donkey Kong: Mine Cart Madness. While checking wait times on the Universal app, I see that the lines for these two attractions are the longest within the entire park, so I’m thinking it was a good idea to come here first thing in the morning. I wish we could get inside Toadstool Cafe, but there’s a long line to get in for this preview, and honestly, there’s much I want to explore here, let’s keep going.

My first stop today is Donkey Kong: Mine Cart Madness which  isn’t a traditional coaster. It uses a boom system that makes it appear like the cart jumps over broken tracks, just like the game. There are near-hits with swinging logs, collapsing bridges, and moments where your cart seems to go off the rails entirely. It’s a rough ride and pretty wild to be honest but it’s blast.

The most technologically advanced ride to me is Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge. It’s a mixed-reality dark ride where you race against Team Bowser using AR goggles. It’s competitive, fast-paced. This is probably THE most popular ride in Epic Universe.

Now is a good time to slow things down having done two major rides in a row. ror little ones and even adults, there’s Yoshi’s Adventure. Let’s hop on a Yoshi and go for a ride around Super Nintendo World. Ok, now we’re on the lookout for glowing eggs, which doesn’t make too much sense to me right now but I’m just enjoying the ride and checking out all the familiar Nintendo characters.

If you grew up playing Nintendo, just be ready to for the nostalgia to hit you. It’s pure Nintendo. And unlike anything else you’ll ever experience in a theme park!

DARK UNIVERSE PORTAL

I go back out to Celestial Park, and it’s a short walk over to the next Portal. But first, here’s an interesting restaurant called Pizza moon. The marque is pretty neat and draws me inside. It looks like an old theater that has been converted into a pizza restaurant. Reminds me of Johns Pizza in New York City.

A few steps away, is our portal. This is Dark Universe. Here the mood shifts completely from happy toads and Italian plumbers to dark and mysterious.

This portal is shrouded in mist. Gnarled stone arches, odd characters just roaming around. I hear high voltage electricity buzzing off in the distance. I can’t help but think that this must be amazing at night. This land pulls from Universal’s legacy of horror — Frankenstein, Dracula and The Wolf Man — but it’s not a kitschy haunted house park. This portal is a mood no cheap scares.

The centerpiece is Monsters Unchained, a dark ride that reimagines the Universal Monsters. But I’m not going to take you inside just yet.

The most amazing thing to me is the cast of characters here. Look how they are eerily summing us. They look friendly but something doesn’t feel right. They’re calling me over to that restaurant and I feel compelled to g.. One thing I’m looking forward to seeing the most today is Das Steakhouse, and I think this is it. Let’s go check it out. So, apparently it’s owned by Dracula, and we're supposed to look for paintings, and figures all depicting vampires as heroes rather than villains.

Das Steakhous is actually a quick-service restaurant featuring steak and pork options. I ordered the char siu pork. It comes with, mashed potatoes, roasted turnups and mushrooms. The char siu sauce, which is bright red by nature, not only tastes great, but ties in the vampire blood theme.

Quite full after that hearty meal, which was outstanding by the way, I want to check out the feature attraction here: Monsters Unchained. Now I’m a little nervous because I heard this attraction is similar to the ride system used at Harry Potter Forbidden Journey, which is one of the few rides that brought on a little motion sickness for me in the past.

Here, we board a mysterious contraption in Dr. Frankenstein’s lab. As the story unfolds, we find ourselves in a containment breach caused by Dracula himself that unleashes the monsters. The ride technology blends stunning visual effects with animatronic creatures. The ride vehicle reacts as you would react if you were on foot in here.

There, there’s no motion sickness on my end, and I’m going as to say this is one of the best attractions at Epic Universe.

Back outside in the fictional village of Darkmoore, I come across yet another attraction I wanted to see. Wait until you see what is about to happen. This is  Burning Blade Tavern.  The exterior draws inspiration from the fiery finale of the 1931 Universal Monsters film Frankenstein, where an angry mob surrounded the old mill, setting it on fire.

The windmill catches fire every 15 minutes.

This place is filled with detail inside and even a few Easter eggs for Universal monster lovers.

Next, we board the Curse of the Werewolf. This is a family-friendly coaster with some unexpected moves. It’s short and fast, and there’s even some light spinning involved. I won’t spoil the surprise, but just make sure you’re paying attention when you pass through the barn.

The land encourages you to slow down and take a look. Because this place isn’t about cheap scares. It’s about dark stories and secrets hiding in shadows.

Once again, I walk back into Celestial Park to seek out my portal, but there’s another restaurant. The Oak and Star Tavern is Epic’s Barbecue restaurant. I love barbecue, so let’s see inside.

This restaurant isn’t quite as busy as the others, but I love the atmosphere. It almost feels too sophisticated for a theme park, but that’s a good thing. Nothing is kitsch here, it’s all been designed to bring a little sophistication to the theme park world.

MINISTRY OF MAGIC PORTAL

It’s not long before I arrive at the the next portal. With this one, I immerse in France. I’m surrounded with spectacular architecture, a ride, shows and, yes, places to eat.

The world of Harry Potter has always been about discovering the extraordinary within the ordinary.

The headline attraction here is The Battle at the Ministry, a trackless dark ride that is like stepping into a film rather than boarding a ride. Guests are caught in a struggle between Aurors and rogue Death Eaters infiltrating the Ministry.

Wizarding World of Harry Potter Epic Unvierse

Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Epic Universe

Outside the ride, the land is a maze of alleyways. There’s a magical sweets shop.

The streets of wizarding Paris are home to delightful cafes, including this one, where you can dine inside or outside as you enjoy French baked goods and sandwiches. And of course, you can quench your thirst with Butterbeer along with a variety of non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks, including beer, cocktails, and French wines.

This was another mind-blowing experience. In my head, I’m trying to think about which land I like best, but they are all equally over the top, I can’t decide. So, back out of the Celestial Park in search of my next amazing portal adventure.

ISLE OF BERK PORTAL

Through the next portal, the noise dims — and I emerge into wind and stone.

This is the Isle of Berk, from How to Train Your Dragon.

Wooden pylons. Viking sails. The smell of smoked meat and sea salt. This land feels open and rustic.

And yes — there are dragons. Everywhere.

The signature attraction is Hiccups Wing Gliders. I think this is a great ride; it’s a family-friendly coaster, but it’s fast. I wouldn’t say it’s a kiddie coaster, but rather one that everyone can enjoy together. No big drops, and it doesn’t go upside down.

For little ones, there’s Dragon Training Camp, an interactive area with games.

The Shops are themed like blacksmith forges and fishmongers.

Isle of Berk in Epic Universe is designed to be a place where you can interact with various characters from the How to Train Your Dragon franchise.

Berks Fyre School at Epic Universe

Berk’s Fyre Skool. Epic Universe

At Dragon Racer’s Rally, guests can practice aerobatic maneuvers and high-speed barrel rolls on a Viking-made dragon-riding trainer in hopes of becoming champion dragon-racers.

This high-thrill flying attraction features a ride system new to Universal. It looks a lot more intimidating than it is. There’s a way to make your ride vehicle move back and forth, but I’m not sure how to do it, so I just enjoy the ride.

Isle of Burk is also home to a show called the Untrainable Dragon. This live show features beloved characters. and a highlight includes Toothless flying directly overhead.

Going a little further into Isle of Burke, we find  Berk’s Fyre Skool. In a very wet ride, you’re in a boat battle where teams of Vikings compete to outsoak each other while trying to hit over 130 moving targets found throughout the attraction.

Now I have to admit, How to Train Your Dragon Land wasn’t on the top of my list - if you notice I went o it last, well almost last because the big moment hasn’t been covered yet. But this whole land was far better than I could have imagined and I spent a lot of time checking things out.

Back through the portal to Celestial Park and now it’s time for the one attraction I want to more than any other. I’m a coaster fan and this next attraction is going to be… uh, Epic.

It’s late in the afternoon and suprisg;y there isn’t a long line Maybe because Starfall Racers is one of the most intimidating coasters in Orlando.

I’m required to store everything in a locker. And I mean everything - glasses, phones, I’m not allowed to have anything in my pockets and I pass through a metal detector.

The highlight? The amount of airtime you get on this coaster! , The dualing coasters leap into the sky at the same time and then twist away from each other in perfect sync. For a second, it’s like I’m weightless. It’s the most thrilling ride in in Epic Universe - very similar to Velocicoaster if you are familiar with that coaster at Universal’s Islands of Adventure park.

WOW!~ What a way to end the day at Epic Universe. And as I wander back toward the center of the park,  I circle around, and see the portals in the distance — [build]
Each one glowing with its own adventure inside, starting with the magic of Nintendo World,

It’s then I realize — [soften] Epic Universe isn’t a theme park in the traditional sense. [pause]
It’s a constellation of worlds. [linger]

Each portal is a story.
A tone.
An emotion. [beat]

And Celestial Park… gives us room to breathe between them. [pause]

Thanks for joining me today on this tour of Epic Universe. And now, here comes another one of my videos that YouTube thinks you’ll really enjoy.  I’ll see you over there.

New Experiences Announced for the Disney Destiny

Disney Cruise Line provided some new details about the Disney Destiny. Here’s what we know so far.

Whether you’re Team Heroes or Team Villains, the Disney Destiny, Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, has epic magic in store. From a Cruella de Vil-inspired piano bar to a “Disney Hercules” stage show, you’ll find all-new adventures at sea plus plenty of returning guest favorites. (Photo above: Disney Destiny Grand Hall.)

Disney Destiny will debut on Nov. 20 in Port Everglades, Fort Lauderdale. The ship will sail four- and five-day itineraries that visit Nassau and Disney's two private islands in the Bahamas, Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, and Castaway Cay.

As part of the media preview at the Disney Destiny Showcase, Disney offered a peek behind the scenes at some of the experiences onboard. Some are heroic, some are a little more nefarious, but all embrace the dynamic duality of every great Disney story. Here are a few of Disney Destiny’s must-dos.

Behind the Scenes at “Disney Hercules”

Disney offered a sneak peek at the all-new “Disney Hercules” show coming to the Disney Destiny. A panel of the creative team offered details on how this classic Walt Disney Animation Studios film is coming to life in the Walt Disney Theater. Show Director Kevin Wilson explained that “Disney Hercules” will feature all the same music and characters, but that “the music, we were able to make it a little more pop, contemporary.”

The show will also feature a new song, “Shooting Star,” which was originally supposed to be in the film but never made the final cut. The set, too, will juxtapose a modern aesthetic and a Grecian feel. Michael Serna, executive creative director, points out that staircases coming from stage right and stage left will propel scene transitions, lending a more modern touch. Meanwhile, there will be a Grecian aesthetic with pillars and a gazebo.

As for the costumes? Think fashion. Show Director Marcel Wilson shares that the gods and goddesses have “beautiful, enormous headpieces that are ornate, and dramatic draping. Even our Grecian townspeople, it’s not fashion, but it still gives a runway vibe, so we still have the Grecian aesthetic.” And of course, expect the Disney Destiny theme of light vs. darkness to appear here, too—some of the costumes will light up!

If you’ve seen “Disney The Tale of Moana” onboard the Disney Treasure, you’ll be familiar with the show’s puppets. Creative Director Jeff Conover explains:  “We love puppetry. We love to play with scale. It brings the emotions to another level.” He shared a peek at a brand-new rendering showcasing Hercules battling the hydra, featuring puppets!

“The concept art here, for me, captures exactly what we’re trying to achieve,” said Conover. “Larger than life. We’re doing some really interesting stuff, not just with the hydra, but also with some of the titans from the film and utilizing some technology here at the Walt Disney Theater that has never been used before.”

Pride Lands: Feast of The Lion King

A new restaurant, Pride Lands: Feast of The Lion King, will debut aboard the Disney Destiny. From windows overlooking different times of day on the savanna to tranquil instrumental music playing in the background, this restaurant will reflect the heart of the “Lion King” story. “When you step into this space, you’re transformed into the Pride Lands,” said Show Director Paul Bryant. “Can you guys hear the soundscape? We really wanted to dive into the authenticity of the musicians and their instruments.”

Feast of the Lion king plate of food

Pridelands: Feast of The Lion King

Disney also offered a peek at cast costumes, place settings, and even a hyena sipper featuring Ed and a Timon popcorn bucket! As for the food and drink, Disney offered two drinks coming to Pride Lands: Feast of the Lion King—Can You Feel the Rum Tonight? and Smily Yet Satisfying (a sweet, gummy-inspired beverage perfect for the kids and the kids at heart). The food was inspired by the Pride Lands: Feast of the Lion King menu.

De Vil’s Piano Lounge: No evening is complete without a devilish drink or two with Cruella De Vil herself. A preview of De Vil’s lounge featured the Hollywood Regency architecture, glamorous cocktails, and a spotted piano that will be onboard the Disney Destiny. And just like at the lounge itself, this evening’s guests were recruited for a little musical mischief.

The lounge will feature strawberry shortcake popcorn and specialty cocktails. The Fashionista consists of strawberry and banana-infused tequila. The zero-proof Fearless Sir Galahad has a syrupy sweet scent and spicy flavor profile.

The Sanctum: Guests will be able to venture into a world of powerful sorcerers inside The Sanctum, a lounge inspired by Marvel Studios’ “Doctor Strange.” Designers were inspired by the New York Sanctum, with some details from the film’s Chamber of Relics, plus suspended spell books and other enchanting Easter eggs.

While the drinks themselves are impressive, even more breathtaking are the interactive elements that give this space an otherworldly feel. Said Sophie Leroux, assistant cruise director:  “The first time I saw this [Circle of the Cosmos], I thought, ‘Is that glass supposed to be upside down?’ It is. That’s one of the coolest parts!”

Grand Hall: Another Marvel Super Hero makes an appearance in the Grand Hall: T’Challa, aka Black Panther. While the Grand Hall statue is the bronze sculpture typical of all Disney Cruise Line Grand Halls, this is the first time the team is bringing in silver accents, reminiscent of the Black Panther’s suit. You can also see purple accents, which is the vibranium activating in the Black Panther’s suit.

“This is a whole new look and feel,” said Walt Disney Imagineer Beth Burkhardt says of the Grand Hall. “Lighting is used in a new way, so we can completely transform the space…It’s going to be changing to each hero or, very possibly, some villains making their way to the Grand Hall.” Expect epic shifts in lighting for our heroes and a more eerie transformation for certain villains, plus a breathtaking chandelier inspired by the meteorite that brought vibranium to Wakanda.

Express Passes at Epic Universe have different rules - here’s what you need to know before you go!

Epic Universe represents a new chapter in Universal Orlando’s evolution, bringing a fresh wave of excitement and immersive experiences to the theme park landscape. As the highly anticipated fourth theme park at Universal Orlando Resort, it is designed to transport guests into fantastical worlds inspired by beloved franchises. With this vast array of attractions, entertainment, and dining options, utilizing Universal Express Passes becomes an essential strategy to maximize enjoyment and minimize wait times.

In this article, we will explore the benefits of the Universal Express Passes at Epic Universe, ensuring you make the most of your visit.

epic universe orlando

Free Express Passes for Epic Universe?

At this time, Epic Universe is not included with the free Express Passes that are included with Portofino Bay, Hard Rock Hotel, and Royal Pacific hotels.

The only way to get Express Passes for Epic Universe is to purchase it as an add-on to your theme park ticket.

Does Helios Grand Hotel include Free Express Passes?

While Helios is a Signature hotel - up there with Portofino Bay Hard Rock and Royal Pacific, you need to know that a stay here does not include free Express Passes. It does offer other perks like being able to walk right into the park from the lobby, and of course, beautiful views if you have a theme park view room.

Epic Universe Express Passes are not Unlimited

Universal Orlando offers two kinds of Express Passes - single-use and unlimited. In most cases, the unlimited version makes more sense because it doesn’t cost that much more. However, single-use Express Passes are the only option for Epic Universe at this time.

List of Epic Universe Rides Offering Express Pass

  • Celestial Park

    • Constellation Carousel

    • Stardust Racers

  • Super Nintendo World
