Unlock the Secrets Arendelle, A Frozen Dining Adventure on the Disney Wish | Disney Cruise Line

Can you spot the reference to EPCOT in the painting hanging in Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure?

The Disney Wish, like any Disney Cruise Line ship, is filled with hidden Disney secrets. But one of the best-themed areas onboard is the Frozen-themed restaurant, Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure.

As a guest of the Disney Wish, you’ll have a chance to dine in Arendelle at least once on your voyage. It’s the dining experience that guests look forward to the most on their cruise.

There are many hidden references to Frozen found throughout the restaurant. Can you find Elsa’s blue gloves on a bookshelf? Here’s a hint, they’re way up high on a shelf in the dining room.

Some of my favorite secrets to point out are in the long hallway that leads down to the dining room.

Disney Wish Secrets - Arendelle - Frozen

This hallway is loaded with detail and Frozen references. I recommend coming down to visit when the restaurant is closed so you can spend more time here and without other guests in your way.

First, check out the wallpaper. Doesn’t it look familiar? It’s the exact same wallpaper from the castle scene in the first film.

Frozen - Anna Inside Castle with Green and Blue Wallpaper
Frozen a Dining Adventure on Disney Wish - Disney Cruise Line

Even the red wallpaper is used in the hallway and dining room.

The painting below holds a subtle reference to EPCOT. Can you spot it? If not, keep reading, I’ll reveal it below.

Disney Cruise Line - Disney Wish - Frozen Dining Adventure
Anna in Frozen with red wallpaper. Knight scene

Those with a keen eye for attention to detail will notice the “Hang in there Joan” painting, also found in the hallway.

In fact, pay close attention to all the paintings. They all tell a very important story from the moment you enter the hallway.

Each painting tells Anna and Elsa’s story from when they were little kids through adulthood.

We even get a little backstory that we don’t see anywhere else.

As you walk the hallway, the paintings reveal more details as the girls grow up.

This story continues as you walk down the hall, progressing from Frozen through Frozen 2, until you eventually reach the banquet hall. Here you’ll find two busts of Anna and Elsa located on the left-hand side of the hallway.

Anna and Elsa busts on the Disney Wish

In this final hallway scene, you’ll notice Elsa has let her hair down and appears to have a free, confident look, while Anna has been crowned Queen of Arendele.

Ok, now for one of my favorite Disney secrets on the Disney Wish - it’s a little reference to EPCOT, my favorite park!

Epcot reference on the Disney Wish - Inside the Frozen Restaurant

Look for the painting in the main dining room where Anna and Elsa are enjoying a picnic with their parents.

I won’t tell you where this painting is hanging because I want you to wander around and take in all the hidden details - but here’s a hint - it’s in the dining room.

In the background, you’ll notice a little wooden building. On closer inspection, you’ll notice it’s the Royal Sommerhus building in Epcot at Walt Disney World. How cool is that?

You can meet Anna and Elsa inside Epcot’s Norway pavilion at Royal Sommerhus.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Package with Walt Disney World Tickets

Welcome to Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, starting with the lobby you’ll notice it’s filled with authentic museum pieces, artwork, and wood carvings.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is one of my favorite resort hotels at Walt Disney World, offering guests an experience like no other. Prepare to be captivated by the immersive atmosphere, incredible wildlife encounters, and award-winning dining experiences.

Welcome to Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, starting with the lobby you’ll notice it’s filled with authentic museum pieces, artwork, and wood carvings.

This one-of-a-kind hotel offers a unique experience that will transport you to Africa. You will absolutely forget that you’re in Central Florida. Yes, Animal Kingdom Lodge is in a remote location on Disney World property. It is sometimes criticized in guidebooks for being far away from the parks. But that’s the point!

It needs to be relaxing and tranquil, away from Disney theming, traffic, park noise, and fireworks. Being able to escape the theme park atmosphere while on vacation is a good thing, and only Animal Kingdom Lodge does that.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Vacation Package

What’s included

  • Accommodations at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

Savanna View - views of the wildlife safaris.

All rooms have a private balcony with 2 chairs.

If you book a Savanna View room, I recommend waking up at dawn for at least one day on your vacation, grabbing coffee, and sitting on your balcony.

The animals are very active at dawn. You’ll see the animals playing with each other and some even calling out to other animals.

Once the sun comes up, the animals begin to chill out.

Good to know

A common misconception is that you need to get to Animal Kingdom Park early in the morning to see the animals.

But by the time Animal Kingdom Park opens, the animals are already done playing.

The best time to view the animals in the theme park is late afternoon, as the sun begins to set. But if you’re staying at the Lodge, pre-dawn is the absolute best time.

Standard rooms at Animal Kingdom Lodge have 2 queen beds and sleep up to 4 people.

Most other Deluxe Resorts at Disney World can sleep up to 5 guests so Animal Kingdom is unique in that way (Disney’s Wilderness Lodge too).

Room Layouts

Club Level at Animal Kingdom Lodge

When you stay Club Level at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, you'll be greeted by a personalized check-in and luggage assistance.

But the best perk is having access to the Kilimanjaro Club Lounge. Here, you’ll enjoy continental breakfast each morning, refreshing snacks and evening hors d'oeuvres and desserts.

You can also enjoy complimentary beer, wine, water and soft drinks. Club Level guests receive an array of unparalleled benefits to enhance their stay. The dedicated Club Level concierge service is at your disposal, ensuring that every moment of your vacation is seamless and magical.

As a Club Level guest, you can also arrange Disney Minnie Van Service from Orlando International Airport (for a fee.) This service is available exclusively to Club Level guests.

Brightline High Speed Train Service In Orlando | Walt Disney World

Brightline highspeed train service is now available in Orlando, with connections to Orlando International Airport, Walt Disney World, and Universal Orlando.

Brightline officially launched passenger rail service between Orlando and Miami on Sept. 22. The first train, Bright Pink, arrived in Orlando at 11:05 a.m. at the Orlando International Airport station.

The new Brightline Orlando Station is located at Orlando International Airport’s 37,350-square-foot train station adjacent to the new Terminal C.

This is the only intercity passenger rail station of its kind to be located in a U.S. airport and stands three stories tall, including a 72,000-square-foot platform area, making it the company’s largest train station.

The Train Station connects directly to the airport’s Parking Garage C, which has more than 350 parking spaces marked for Brightline guests.

Passengers can access terminals A and B via the airport monorail (PeopleMover) in under five minutes.

Brightline and Mears Partner for Walt Disney World Transportation

If you’re taking Brightline to the Walt Disney World Resort hotels, you can take Mears Transportation roundtrip from Orlando International Airport’s Brightline station.

How to Use Mears Connect Service Between Orlando International and Walt Disney World

Mears Connect Standard Service - Standard Service is a shared ride service, similar to Magical Express, on a Mears Connect coach bus or van. The shuttle makes limited stops at a few other hotels along the way.

Mears Express Service Express Service is a direct route between MCO and your Disney World hotel, typically in a van. This is similar to hiring a town car.

Mears Transportation is the leader in airport transfers between Orlando International Airport and Walt Disney World Resort. It was Mears who operated Disney’s Magical Express Service for Disney World when it began in 2005. When Disney canceled the complimentary shuttle program in 2022, Mears changed their name to Mears Connect and removed the Disney World livery from all buses.

Mears has many years of experience shuttling guests between the airport and Walt Disney World. They even bought out their competition, Sunshine Flyer, which lasted only 16 months in Orlando.

Let’s take a look at how Mears Connect operates today.

Mears Connect provides 2 airport shuttle options:

  • Express (private) Service

Frequently Asked Questions about Mears Connect

Are car seats provided?

Florida law does not require car seats in coach buses. Mears will store your car seat in the luggage area of the motor coach if you have one. Car seats are not permitted inside the bus.

Car seats can be used in Mears Express vans. You’re welcome to use your own or request a car seat in advance.

Do I retrieve my own luggage at the airport?

You will need to stop at baggage claim to retrieve your checked luggage.

Once you have your bags, you will proceed to the Mears Welcome Center on the Ground transportation level.

Where do I board Mears Connect at Orlando International?

Terminal A: Go to Level 2 if you have checked bags and pick up your luggage. Then go up to Level 3, and cross over to the B-Side of the airport. Then go down to Level 1 and locate the Mears Welcome Center. (Just follow signs for Ground Transportation on the B-Side).

Terminal B: Go to Level 2 if you have checked bags and pick up your luggage. Then go down to Level 1 and locate the Mears Welcome Center.

Terminal C: Go to Level 6 if you have checked bags and pick up your luggage. Then go down to Level 1 and locate the Mears Welcome Center.

Mears Connect Check in area Terminal C Orlando International

Mears check in area at Terminal C inside Orlando International Airport.

When will Mears Connect pick us up for the return flight?

Your resort departure time is scheduled based on your scheduled flight departure time and will be printed on your confirmation.

Mears will pick you up approximately 3 hours prior to your scheduled flight time for domestic flights and about 4 hours prior for international flights.

You should be at the pickup location 15 minutes prior to allow time to load luggage and get everyone onboard in time.

Pick-up locations are located outside the lobby at Disney World hotels.

Will wheelchairs be accommodated?

Yes, Standard and Express service will be able to accommodate wheelchairs.

Be sure to mention this when making your reservation or let your travel advisor know in advance.

Do you tip Mears Drivers?

Yes, it’s customary to tip your driver for good service.

According to Mears, most people give 10% to coach bus drivers and 20% to van, drivers.

Is Mears cheaper than Uber and Lyft?

A typical ride-share service will cost about $40 - $60 each way. But this doesn’t include surge pricing in Orlando or Uber Car Seat. Both add significant costs to your fare. Read more about using ride-share services in Orlando here ▸

Mears Connect generally works out better because you won’t have to deal with car seats or wait for a car that can fit your party size.

Uber drivers have various skills. While I believe they have good intentions, some don’t know their way around Disney World property too well. I had Uber cars in Orlando that smelled unpleasant or never showed up only to cancel on me.

While a Mears shuttle might take longer than Uber, it’s a far more consistent and professional service.

How do I reserve a ride on Mears Connect?

Your Disney travel advisor can make your reservation for you. Just provide your airline and flight numbers. You can book directly on the Mears Transportation website

Mears Connect Phone Number

(407) 423-5566

What are the operating hours for Mears Connect?

Mears is a 24/7 service. In cases where your flight gets in very late due to a delay, Mears will probably send you to Disney in one of their taxis or vans when you arrive rather than a coach bus.

What hotels does Mears Connect service?

All of the Disney World hotels. There…That was easy! But here’s where it gets more interesting:

Disney Springs (only these hotels)

  • DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Orlando Disney Springs

  • Hilton Orlando Buena Vista Palace

  • Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista

  • Holiday Inn Orlando Disney Springs

  • Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Disney Springs

Bonnet Creek Resort Area

Walkthrough Journey of Water Inspired by Moana at EPCOT

I recently had a preview of Journey of Water Inspired by Moana. The attraction officially opens on October 16, 2023, but here are some highlights and important tips for when you visit.

I recently had a preview of Journey of Water Inspired by Moana. The attraction officially opens on October 16, 2023, but here are some highlights and important tips for when you visit.

What is Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana at Epcot? I’ll take you on a tour, show you the highlights and I’ll show you my favorite hidden Moana Easter Egg in the video below.

Take a video tour of Journey of Water

Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana is a new, interactive experience opening at Epcot on October 16, 2023. It’s located in the World Nature neighborhood at Epcot, right next to The Seas Pavilion and The Land Pavilion, directly behind Spaceship Earth.

You’ll be able to explore a beautifully landscaped walking trail that feels like a tropical oasis with fun and surprises around each turn, as you engage with water in magical ways like Moana did with the ocean – from a simple greeting to a high five or even using your arms to create waves.

The attraction is designed to be a relaxing and educational experience. It will teach guests about the water cycle and the importance of water on our planet.

Journey of Water is a great way for families to learn about water conservation and sustainability.

But it’s not preachy, or trying to alarm you in any way.

But if you would like to learn more about water and water conservation, there are opportunities for that.

The theme throughout Journey of Water is to show how water connects us all and gives life to the world.

But you may also discover that the interactions work better when you have help from other guests - working as a team or even in unison to make music.

As you make your way through Journey of Water, you’ll experience water in its various forms throughout the water cycle and have the chance to interact with it in a truly Disney way. It is one of those things that will have you saying, “Only Disney could make something like this.”

Disney shows us that water has a playful personality of its own, and you can join in the fun by playing music with “rain harps,” waving to jumping streams, and creating a roaring ocean wave.

Designed with the whole family in mind, there’s something for everyone, even interactions that are set low for children.

Will you get wet in Epcot’s Journey of Water?

Well, the experience can be personalized for each guest’s preferences. As you move through the trail, you’ll find wet and dry path options but even the wet path options won’t leave you soaked.

You can get soaked if you want to, but you can customize your experience here.

As you walk along the trail, you’ll come across Te Fiti, who is seen protecting water as it travels through the water cycle.

And see if you can discover a few easter egg references.

Some Guests with a keen eye for detail might notice characters carved in the rock formations like Hei Hei and friends.

Journey of Water opens on October 16, 2023 at Epcot. It joins a list of new attractions and experiences such as Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, and Tron Lightcycle Run at Magic Kingdom,

What are Agency Exclusive Offers from Magical Vacations Travel?

FAQs about Magical Vacations Travel Agency Exclusive Offers

Magical Vacations Travel occasionally arranges special rates and discounts that cannot be found anywhere else.

An Agency Exclusive Offer at Universal Orlando Resort is typically a deep discount on the nightly room rate at select hotels.

Agency-exclusive offers are only valid during the advertised travel window. You can select any number of nights within that window.

Are Agency Exclusives vacation packages?

No. These offers are discounts on hotel rooms only but tickets and other add-ons can be included in your quote. So, it’s just like having a package but we just can’t call it a “package” because some of the terms and conditions are different.

Can I include theme park tickets with an Agency Exclusive?

Yes. Tickets will be a separate purchase. I can include both the hotel and tickets in your quote with one total price, to make it easy. Theme park tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. If you need to cancel your vacation, you will be offered a future credit on tickets.

Can I cancel an Agency Exclusive Offer if I need to?

Yes. The cancellation policy is much more lenient than a traditional package. In most cases, you can cancel your hotel reservation up to 5 days prior to check-in for a full refund.

Do you have Agency Exclusives for cruises?

Agency Exclusive Offers on cruises, also known as Magical Voyages, are specially priced cruise fares that Magical Vacations Travel has arranged with the cruise line.

Universal Orlando's Endless Summer Resort - Dockside Inn and Suites Review

Resort Tour: Universal’s Endless Summer Resort Dockside

Resort Summary

Universal’s Endless Summer Dockside Inn and Suites is divided into two parts: Dockside Inn and Surfside Inn. The name comes from the 1966 documentary on surfing titled, The Endless Summer.

Universal’s Endless Summer Dockside Inn and Suites

This resort is located on Universal Boulevard, a few blocks away from the Universal Orlando theme parks.

This value hotel features 2-bedroom suites that accommodate up to six guests and standard rooms that sleep 4.

There are 1,059 2-bedroom suites and 991 standard rooms with interior corridors.

What is the difference between universal dockside and Surfside?

These two hotels sit across the street from each other on Universal Boulevard. Dockside is larger and has 2 pools. It also has a larger lobby and foodcourt. Surfside is smaller and has 1 pool. Personally, I think Surfside is a little easier to navigate but I like that Dockside is bigger. Surfside and Dockside are comparable in terms of room size, nightly rates and the amenities offered.

Arrival and Lobby Areas

Room Categories

2-Bedroom Suites – These suites, which make up more than half the rooms at both Dockside Inn and Suites & Surfside Inn and Suites, sleep up to six and offer guests an unrivaled value.

With the families suite you no longer need two connecting rooms for extra space.

Standard Rooms - With separate bath and vanity areas, it’s easy for multiple people to get ready at the same time.

Pool View Rooms - Each inviting 313-square-foot room offers two queen beds and sleeps 4.

Room Rates

Standard rooms begin at $79 per night. The 2-Bedroom Suites start as low as $115 per night. Prices vary based on season with mid to late summer having the lowest rates.

Unlock the Magic: Disney World Vacation Packages Explained

At its core, the Walt Disney World family vacation package consists of 2 main components: Hotel room and theme park tickets. But there are a re number of options that allow you to customize your package.

Disney World Packages are designed to help you make sense of seemingly countless options and add-ons. But the packages themselves are a little confusing. And then we have questions like how much do Disney World vacation packages cost? And How can Disney travel agents help?

Disney World Vacation Packages Explained

At its core, the Walt Disney World vacation package consists of 2 main components

  1. Hotel room

  2. Theme park tickets.

But there’s a little more to it than that.

Things like travel dates, party mix, ticket type, and even dining plans all contribute to the cost of your vacation.

Let's break it down into smaller pieces and start with deciding when to go and for how long.

When to go to Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World hotel rates and ticket prices vary by the day. T

his means that hotel prices are different each night and ticket prices are different each and every day.

But we can simplify this. First, ticket prices do not vary too much, so don’t get too concerned with that right now. The variations are minimal in the big picture.

Nightly hotel rates for Disney World hotels can vary greatly.

Rates are higher during holidays like Christmas, Easter, and President’s Day.

Rates are also higher during spring break season - so February, March, and April.

Rates are lower in late spring, summer, and fall.

Some of the best months to visit Disney are May, September, October, and November for lower crowds, lower prices and lower temperatures - well September is still pretty hot but you will literally have the parks to yourself.

Party Mix

Your party size is another major factor in determining your Walt Disney World package price.

Everyone staying in the same room must have the same package type.

So, everyone must have the same type of ticket and stay the same number of nights. If you purchase a dining plan, everyone must have the same dining plan too.

Disney World Hotels

Disney World Packages provide a variety of on-site and off-site hotels to suit different budgets and preferences.

disney's contemporary resort - vacation packages

There are 30 Disney-owned hotels by the way, which not only provide convenient access to the parks but also immerse you in Disney's atmosphere 24/7.

And Disney hotels provide free theme park transportation and free parking.

Prices for the most common room types range from about $150 per night up to about $1,500 per night.

There are 6 Hotel categories to choose from so this is where using a travel agent is especially helpful.

  1. Value hotels

  2. Moderately priced hotels

  3. Deluxe hotels

  4. Deluxe Villa hotels

  5. Disney Springs hotels

  6. Flamingo Crossings hotels

Let’s face it, the reason you would stay at a value resort is to save money.

These are economy rooms that are safe, clean, and have a whimsical theme.

The rooms are tiny, that’s to be expected, but perfect if you just need a comfortable place to sleep and shower.

The issue with the value hotels is the long lines that form in the food court and at the bus stop.

Moderate resorts cost slightly more but with that additional cost, you get a larger room, water slides at the hotel pool, and possibly more onsite dining options depending on the resort. Some rooms sleep up to 5.

Deluxe hotels offer the largest rooms, most can sleep up to 5, offer a high level of theming throughout, have multiple onsite dining options, usually a character meal, and of course, luxury accommodations like upgraded softgoods, fitness centers, and some even have spa services.

Deluxe hotels also come with special perks like extended park hours in the evening on select nights and at select theme parks.

Deluxe Villas hotels primarily exist for those who are Disney Vacation Club Members, but a select number of villas are held for general bookings.

These rooms come in a variety of styles ranging from studios to 1, 2, and 3-bedroom apartments with kitchens and living rooms.

The Disney Springs Hotels and Flamingo Crossings Hotels are third-party but located on Disney property.

Look for hotels that offer complimentary theme park shuttles and complimentary breakfasts.

Again a travel agent is very helpful with this. I have a Top 3 list of best 3rd party hotels that I use when working with my clients.

The Flamingo Crossings hotels specialize in family suites while most of the Disney Springs hotels offer more traditional hotel rooms.

These Good Neighbor hotels are priced comparably with the Disney Value Hotels and in my opinion much better.

They are on par with Deluxe hotels because they have upscale lobby areas, spacious rooms, fitness centers, resort-style pools, and even onsite restaurants. And the Disney World hotels don’t offer free breakfast.

Here’s a tip, When you book one of these hotels as a Disney World package, there are no mysterious resort fees.

Disney World Package Tickets

Disney World packages include theme park tickets for 2-10 days.

With tickets, the longer you stay, the cheaper the tickets get. For example, a 7-day ticket costs less per day than a 4-day ticket.

If you want just a 1-day ticket, you can’t book a package.

Packages include admission to the 4 Walt Disney World theme parks including

  • Magic Kingdom

  • Epcot

  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios

  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom

You can choose the number of days and whether you want to add options like the Park Hopper and Water Parks and Sports option.

Base tickets allow you to enter one theme park per day.

You can of course leave and re-enter the same park on that day if you would like to take a break and head back to your hotel.

The most common add-on is the Park Hopper.

This feature allows you to visit multiple Disney theme parks on the same day.

For example, you can start your day at Magic Kingdom, and then head over to Epcot for dinner later in the evening.

The park hopper option is a one-time cost and is valid for all days. You cannot purchase Park Hopper for just some of your days.

The cost can vary depending on the day.

If I had to ballpark it, I’d say Park Hopper costs about $100 per ticket but this is just an estimate.

The Park Hopper option is especially useful for those who are coming to Disney for a quick visit and need to get a lot done in a short amount of time.

You can also add the Disney Water Parks to your package. Even if you plan on visiting a Disney Water Park only once - it’s cheaper to add it to your package rather than buy a single-day admission ticket.

You can also visit Disney's Oak Trail Golf Course and the 2 mini-golf courses as well.

Disney Dining Plans

Disney offers 2 types of dining plans as a way to help make your vacation package feel more inclusive.

Over the years other theme parks copied Disney and began offer dining plans of their own, but most are a poor value because they include food that you would not have otherwise purchased.

And they tell you how much money you’re saving.

Well yeah, you might be saving money but if you wouldn’t have purchased all the food to begin with, it’s not really a value.

See the thing they’re missing is that Disney isn’t offering the dining plan as an upsell.

Disney offers dining plans to compete with all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean and cruises.

Now you can really save a ton of money with the Disney Disney Plans if you book a character meal or two but otherwise, you’ll probably break even compared to paying out of pocket.

Choose from either the Disney Quick-Service Dining Plan or the Disney Dining Plan as part of your Walt Disney World Package.

Both plans provide everyone in the party (ages 3 and over) with a specific number of meals and snacks based on the number of nights of your Disney Resort stay.

You get to pick the plan that works best with your vacation style and dining needs!

The Regular Disney Dining Plan includes (based on the number of package nights)

  • 1 Quick-Service Meal

  • 1 Table-Service Meal

  • 1 Snack/Nonalcoholic Drink

  • 1 Resort-Refillable Drink Mug

For example, if you book a 4-night package with a Disney Dining Plan, each Guest in your party would receive 4 Table-Service meals, 4 Quick-Service meals, and 4 snacks or beverages—which can be used at any time during your 4-night stay.

The Quick Service Dining Plan

  • 2 Quick-Service Meals (per night of stay)

  • 1 Snack/beverage (per night of stay)

  • 1 Resort-Refillable Drink Mug

For example, if you book a 4-night package with a Disney Quick-Service Dining Plan, each Guest in your party would receive 8 Quick-Service meals and 4 Snacks or Beverages—which can be used at any time during your 4-night stay.

Memory Maker and Travel Protection

Two more options you can add on to your package are the Memory Maker and Travel Protection.

Memory Maker is a photo package that includes professional and on-ride photos throughout the theme parks.

The cost is $169. Be sure to add this on prior to checking in. Once you check in the price goes up to $200.

Travel Protection is a great value because it protects you from weather delays, mysteriously canceled flights, and illness. Kids age 17 and under are included for free.

Travel protection may not feel like a good investment unless you need it. Then you’ll say it’s the best thing you ever bought.

The cost is $95 per adult. Seriously, Disney isn’t cheap, you should protect your vacation especially if you’re flying to Orlando.

So let's review the key components we covered today:

  • Packages start at 2 nights or more at a Disney hotel or Good Neighbor hotel

  • Must include at least 2-days of theme park tickets

  • Ticket add-ons include Park hopping and or water parks

  • Dining Plans offer flexibility and convenience and help make your vacation feel all-inclusive.

Also, on Oct. 16 – Moana will arrive in World Nature and make her first appearance in her own dedicated space near Journey of Water.

Epcot Construction Update

At EPCOT, the World Celebration neighborhood will begin welcoming guests this December! I will believe it when I see it. On my last look, they still have a lot of work to do on the other side of those walls.

World Celebration will unite the front of the park, tying together the other two new EPCOT neighborhoods, World Discovery and World Nature.

The completion of the last of the park’s three neighborhoods will be the latest major milestone multi-year transformation of EPCOT.

Tour Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort has just become my favorite Moderate resort and not just because of Gran Destino Tower, but as a whole.

Grand Destino Tower at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort | Walt Disney World

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort - Gran Destino Tower

Gran Destino Tower has all the characteristics of a Disney Deluxe hotel, but at Moderate resort prices. Club Level here is a bargain, it’s about 50% cheaper than Club Level at the Polynesian or Beach Club and just as nice.

Transportation

Disney has made several improvements to the roadways surrounding Coronado Springs Resort. Of course, it has always been close to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but with a new entrance to World Drive, Coronado has faster access to Epcot and Magic Kingdom Park.

What makes Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort different from other Moderate hotels:

  • Rooms in the original section of the resort have central air. Other Moderate resorts have window units.

  • It’s the only Moderate Resort to offer Club-Level services. Guests who book a Club Level room can visit the Chronos Club, a bright, comfortable lounge where they can relax and enjoy light refreshments throughout the day or take advantage of vacation-planning services.

  • Peloton Fitness Center. Coronado is the only Moderate Resort to have a gym on site.

  • Rooms throughout the resort have upgraded softgoods.

  • Numerous dining and lounge options from casual to upscale.

  • Rooms in Gran Destino Tower do not have bathtubs, but they do have rain showers with excellent water pressure. Rooms in the original section of the resort do have bathtubs.

  • Tower rooms have interior hallways. Other Moderates have exterior hallways.

  • New arrival and reception experience featuring a modern two-story lobby. Plenty of comfortable seating to gather with friends / family or to get some work done.

  • Offers an upscale yet casual rooftop restaurant, Tolédo – Tapas, Steaks and Seafood.

Disneyland’s Secret Red and White Lightbulb

Disneyland electricians set out to install the light fixtures, but they noticed a major flaw in their work. It was Walt himself who thought of the solution.

When Walt Disney was working on Main Street in Disneyland with his Imagineers, he felt strongly that the Refreshment Corner restaurant should have red and white alternating lights above the doorway.

As the electricians set out to install the light fixtures, they noticed a major flaw in their work.

And it was Walt Disney himself who came up with the solution.

Here’s what happened.

red-and-white-bulb-disneyland

When electricians were installing the lights, they forgot to count the number of bulbs needed in advance.

Once they finished, there was an odd number of bulbs.

red-and-white-bulb-disneyland

This mattered because Walt Disney wanted alternating red and white bulbs but two bulbs somewhere in the lineup would be the same color. There was no way around it. There were going to be two red bulbs side-by-side, or two white bulbs side-by-side.

The electricians brought the mistake to Walt’s attention and asked if they should start over.

But the construction of Disneyland was running behind schedule and Walt was desperate to get other projects finished.

Suddenly Walt thought of the solution. You could say It was a bright idea!

He instructed the electricians to take one bulb and paint half of it red and the other half white. Can you spot this unique lightbulb in the picture?

red-and-white-bulb-disneyland

Over the years the problem could have been fixed but Walt loved to point this out to his guests and make them laugh.

The red and white bulb is still there today.

Breaking Down the Expenses: What You Need to Know About the Cost of a Disney World Vacation

How much does Walt Disney World cost?

If you're planning a trip to Disney World, it's no secret that it can be a costly adventure. But just how much does a Disney vacation really cost?

Breaking down the expenses can help you better understand what to expect and plan accordingly.

From park tickets to accommodations, dining, and transportation, there are a lot of factors to consider.

However, with some careful planning and budgeting, you can make your dream Disney vacation a reality without breaking the bank.

In this article, we'll take a closer look at the various expenses that come with a Disney World vacation and provide tips for managing and reducing your costs.

So whether you're a seasoned Disney-goer or a first-time visitor, read on to learn all you need to know about the cost of a Disney World vacation.

Understanding the Different Expenses

Before we dive into the specifics of each expense, it's important to have a general understanding of what you can expect to pay for a Disney World vacation.

The cost of a Disney vacation can vary greatly depending on a number of factors, including

  • time of year you visit

  • length of stay

  • type of accommodations you choose

  • dining plans

  • park tickets

How much does Walt Disney World cost?

I made this chart to give you an idea of what a 4-night vacation will cost, based on a family of 4. The prices represented on this chart are averages, not actual prices, that are intended to give you a ballpark figure of what Disney World costs.

Disney World packages are customizable so the price could more or could be less, depending on dates, party size, ticket type, dining plan, and other factors.

I like to include the dining plans because they are intended to help you figure out the total cost of your vacation. The dining plans are Disney’s way of competing with all-inclusive resort destinations in the Caribbean and of course, cruises. They are not necessarily intended to be discount food plans but they likely won’t cost you more money than paying out of pocket.

I find they are pretty accurate in terms of what you’ll spend anyway.

The advantage of a Disney dining plan is that you’ll have peace of mind on vacation knowing that most of your dining costs are already paid for.

And with children, you can save up to 20% on dining costs - especially if you plan on doing a character meal or two.

It's also important to note that Disney World offers a variety of ticket options, ranging from one-park-per-day tickets to multiple parks on the same day (Park Hopper) tickets. You can also add on Disney water park visits too.

The cost of these tickets can vary greatly depending on the time of year you visit, with peak season tickets being more expensive than off-peak season tickets.

Peak season includes holiday periods and spring break. Value season is summer and fall.

The more days you add to your Disney World ticket, the cheaper the per-day price gets. So, the longer you stay, the cheaper it is to play. A 7-day day ticket costs less than a 6-day ticket (per day). See more on Disney World ticket prices >

OrlandoParksGuy: Travel agent for Disney World, Universal Orlando, and Orlando area cruises

Accommodation Expenses

One of the biggest expenses of a Disney World vacation is hotel accommodations. Disney World offers a variety of on-site and off-site accommodations, ranging from value resorts to deluxe villas. See more on Disney World hotels here >

On-site accommodations range from around $100 to over $1,000 per night depending on the type of room and resort. See Disney World average nightly hotel rates >

However, staying on-site offers a number of benefits, including early access to the parks, Evening Extra Magic Hours for guests staying at Deluxe hotels on select nights, and free transportation to and from the parks.

Off-site accommodations can be less expensive, with prices ranging from around $50 to $300 per night. For safety and convenience, I recommend the Disney Good Neighbor hotels at Disney’s Flamingo Crossings or at Disney Springs.

However, these accommodations may require a rental car, Uber/Lyft, or shuttles to get to the parks, which can add to your overall costs.

Many off-site accommodations offer free breakfast.

To save money, consider visiting during an off-peak season like summer and fall.

Disney World Souvenir and Merchandise Expenses

Finally, souvenir and merchandise expenses can add up quickly at Disney World. From t-shirts and hats to collectibles and toys, there are plenty of opportunities to spend money on souvenirs and merchandise.

To save money on souvenirs and merchandise, consider setting a budget before your trip and sticking to it. You can also look for discounts and deals on merchandise, if you have a Disney Visa card.

You can also save money with your Magical Extras card (a discount card that’s included with your Disney World package).

How to Save Money on a Disney World Vacation

Now that we've covered the various expenses of a Disney World vacation, let's take a look at some tips and tricks for managing and reducing your costs.

Plan ahead: Research your options and create a budget before your trip to avoid overspending. Travel during a value season (summer and fall), avoid major holiday weeks like President’s Day, Easter and Christmas, and avoid spring break season (March and April).

Use a travel agent: Disney travel agents are professionals and they are free! I provide expert answers to all your questions at no cost to you. The advice is free. The service is free! Plus, I monitor discounts every day, even after my clients book with me. If there’s a better price, I’ll find it and let you know.

Bring your own snacks and drinks: Avoid purchasing expensive snacks and drinks in the parks by bringing your own. 1 bottle of water in the parks is $5.50. A case of 48 bottles of water at Costco is $4. Here’s my easy guide to grocery delivery at Disney World >

Budgeting for a Disney World Vacation

Budgeting for a Disney World vacation can be a daunting task, but with some careful planning and research, you can make your dream vacation a reality without breaking the bank.

To create a budget for your Disney World vacation, start by researching the cost of park tickets, accommodations, transportation, and dining. Then, factor in other expenses such as souvenirs and merchandise. A Disney travel agent is an excellent resource for this.

Once you have a general idea of your expenses, create a budget that takes into account how much you can afford to spend. Be sure to prioritize your expenses based on what is most important to you and your family.

For example, do you prefer a more convenient Deluxe hotel with a shorter stay, or a longer stay at a value hotel?
