Epcot will Reveal "Walt the Dreamer" and "Luminous" on December 5, 2023
World Celebration Gardens, ‘Walt the Dreamer’ and “Luminous The Symphony of Us” begin Dec. 5, Walt Disney’s birthday.
To commemorate Walt Disney's birthday on December 5th, guests at EPCOT can explore Dreamers Point in the soon-to-be-opened World Celebration neighborhood.
This area of Epcot has been behind walls since 2020.
Here, they will have the opportunity to see the original dreamer, Walt Disney himself, in a fresh and inspiring way.
Visitors are invited to join Walt in his imagination and take in the breathtaking views of World Celebration Gardens.
The brand-new statue, titled "Walt the Dreamer," portrays Walt during a later stage of his life when he was envisioning the grand Florida Project and the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow (EPCOT).
Sitting contentedly, he relishes the fulfillment of his dreams, reveling in the beauty of his realized vision: a park that embodies boundless optimism and truly honors the enchantment of potential.
“Walt the Dreamer” at Epcot
Dreamers Point is named not only for Walt Disney, the dreamer who has and continues to inspire us, but also all guests who visit EPCOT to celebrate the endless potential and possibility of the legacy that Walt has left behind.
Luminous The Symphony of Us – Starting December 5, 2023
Experience the joy of a captivating spectacle meticulously crafted to unite us all.
Witness an awe-inspiring extravaganza showcasing a stunning combination of fireworks, fountains, harmonious melodies, and breathtaking illuminations, all harmoniously synchronized to an original score.
As fresh compositions intertwine with emotive renditions from the renowned Disney songbook, be reminded that our similarities far outweigh our differences, forging the undeniable bond that unites us as one.
I will be there on December to see the new show. Stay tuned for the video and a possible live-stream.

Icon of the Seas Officially Joins Royal Caribbean Fleet
After 900 days of construction, Icon of the Seas will join the Royal Caribbean International fleet to just two months before its January 2024 debut.
After 900 days of construction, Icon of the Seas will join the Royal Caribbean fleet just two months before its January 2024 debut.
During more than two years of construction, we witnessed the installation of the AquaDome, the single largest glass and steel structure to be lifted onto a cruise ship, the engineering of more water on board than ever before across seven pools, six record-breaking waterslides, and more.
Icon of the Seas will sail from Turku to Cadiz, Spain, where the cruise line will start to put the finishing touches on the ship before it heads to Miami.
Starting Wednesday, Nov. 29, travelers can follow Icon’s journey by visiting Royal Caribbean’s website.
Whether “family vacation” means getting away as a family, couple or friends, Icon will feature firsts and next-level favorites for everyone to make memories their way every day across eight neighborhoods.
There are adrenaline-pumping thrills, unrivaled ways to chill, more than 40 ways to dine and drink, cutting-edge entertainment across the cruise line’s four signature stages—air, ice, water, and theater—and more.
There are also 28 different stateroom categories, including the new three-level Ultimate Family Townhouse; rooms are thoughtfully designed for every type of vacationer.
The five brand-new neighborhoods and three reimagined favorites are destinations in themselves filled with a variety of experiences, live entertainment, restaurants and bars, including:
Thrill Island:
The new center of thrill features
Category 6 - the largest waterpark at sea, with six record-breaking slides
Crown’s Edge - part skywalk, part ropes course, and part thrill ride on which adventurers swing 154 feet above the ocean
FlowRider simulator
Lost Dunes minigolf course and more.
Chill Island:
Four of the seven pools on Icon are at this three-deck neighborhood, each with a unique vibe and prime ocean views: the lively Swim & Tonic, the cruise line’s first swim-up bar at sea; Royal Bay, the largest pool at sea; Cloud 17, an adults-only retreat; and the infinity-edge Cove Pool.
With different tunes from live bands and DJs, and poolside spots for drinks and quick, casual food—such as The Lime & Coconut and its new frozen cocktail bar, and El Loco Fresh & Cantina Fresca—vacationers can chill day and night.
Surfside:
Introducing the first neighborhood made for young families.
Adults and kids can stay and play all day between ways to splash, like at the new Water’s Edge pool for grownups nearby Baby Bay and the Splashaway Bay aquapark for kids, and new dedicated dining options such as the Surfside Eatery buffet, Pier 7 for all-day brunch.
AquaDome:
A tranquil oasis by day and a vibrant hot spot at night, the new neighborhood is filled with wraparound ocean views, new and returning restaurants and bars, a 55-foot-tall water curtain, and the next-level AquaTheater, which will introduce the first cast of robots, skateboarders, divers and more.
This area includes Royal Caribbean’s first food hall, AquaDome Market, and Rye & Bean—a new bar for lattes and coffee-infused cocktails—plus a new Overlook bar and pods, and the cruise line’s marquee aqua shows.
The Hideaway:
Tucked away and sitting 135 feet above the ocean is a new neighborhood that combines the good vibes of beach club scenes around the world.
The first suspended infinity pool at sea is at the center of it all, and it has 180-degree ocean views that make it the perfect place to watch sunsets from the point of view only a cruise can offer as vacationers enjoy the dedicated DJ and bar.
Royal Promenade:
The heartbeat of Icon, this neighborhood has more than 15 restaurants, bars and lounges, including Dueling Pianos, Royal Caribbean’s first dueling pianos bar; the new 1400 Lobby Bar, inspired by the history of shipbuilding, with an ocean-facing terrace that opens the reimagined neighborhood to the outdoors for the first time ever.
Central Park:
Lusher and livelier than ever, this open-air neighborhood is reimagined with more ways to dine, drink, and be entertained. Thousands of real plants line new experiences and favorites include the popular Izumi, with a new location and a walkup window; and American steakhouse Chops Grille.
Making their debut are spots like Empire Supper Club, an extravagant experience that pairs eight courses with wine, cocktails and music; and Lou’s Jazz ‘n Blues, for live performances of soulful jazz, jazzy pop music and more.
Suite Neighborhood:
Spanning four decks, Royal Caribbean’s most expansive Suite Neighborhood features larger suites, including the new Grove Suite Sun Deck, complete with a private pool, whirlpool, and dedicated Mediterranean dining; and a new two-level Coastal Kitchen with views of the AquaDome and the ocean.
Icon is also the cruise line’s first ship that can be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), a transitional fuel.
The dual-fuel engines will work alongside a lineup of energy efficiency initiatives and industry-leading environmental programs on board, like the first waste-to-energy plant at sea.
Twenty-four percent more energy efficient than the standards required for ships being designed today, Icon is Royal Caribbean’s most sustainable ship, marking the next step in parent company Royal Caribbean Group's journey to introduce a net-zero cruise ship by 2035.

Update: Summer House on the Lake at Disney Springs
Latest update on Disney World’s newest restaurant: Summer House on the Lake
Disney World’s newest restaurant is opening soon
Work on Summer House on The Lake, a new restaurant coming in “late 2023” to Disney Springs is nearing completion, at least on the exterior. A couple of weeks ago the exterior was nothing more than a steel frame.
It’s amazing how work gets done so fast after sitting partially completed for several years.
The eatery’s parent company, Lettuce Entertain You, is reporting that Summer House on the Lake is on schedule for a late 2023 opening.
I was able to catch a glimpse of the interior, it appears there is still much that needs to be done.
However, given how fast the exterior was assembled, it’s entirely possible crews could button up the interior in time.
According to the Disney Springs website, Summer House on the Lake will have flavorful salads, sandwiches, pizzas, and more at lunch and dinner. And on Saturdays and Sundays, delight in a special brunch menu.
Summer House will also feature an in-house bakery where guests will be able to enjoy a sweet finale to their meal Treats include freshly baked cookies, brownies, and other goodies.
In addition to the bakery, there will be a cookie bar, a dessert-focused market within this Summer House serving up freshly baked cookies and house-made pastries, wine, beer, handcrafted cocktails, nonalcoholic beverages, and more.
Summer House on the Lake is located on the west side of Disney Springs, near the AMC movie theater. Stay tuned for more updates.

How to Celebrate the Holidays at Universal Orlando Guide 2023
My tips for the best experience at Universal Orlando during the holidays
Universal Orlando Resort is a great place to get into the festive holiday spirit and it all kicks off on Friday, November 17, 2023.
I have been to all of Universal’s Christmas events many times so today I’m sharing the must-sees and some of my best tips.
Universal Studios Florida
Yes, most of the major holiday events are included with theme park admission.
So, bonus points for Universal!
Earl the Squirrel is popular character, with no real backstory, that has been created just for Universal during the holidays. He has become a holiday favorite that gets more popular every year.
Yule experience a mix of merry and mischief brought to life from holiday classics to experiences inspired by pop culture icons, creating a memorable holiday atmosphere running daily through Sunday, December 31.
Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is one of my must-see holiday destinations anywhere in Orlando.
The streets of Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade transform into a wizarding holiday wonderland overflowing with festively themed décor, lights, garland, and more.
The atmosphere is part of Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol and, of course, Harry Potter.
“The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle” is returning once again to Hogsmeade at Universal Islands of Adventure. This high-tech projection show combines music, stunning imagery, and classic holiday moments featuring Harry Potter characters.
Viewing space for the show is limited. I recommend you get into the queue about 30-40 minutes prior to showtime.
You will be packed into the viewing area and it will be difficult to leave once inside. So bathrooms and drinks are a must before heading inside.
Universal's Holiday Parade featuring Macy’s at Universal Studios Florida
The Christmas parade is the must-see event at Universal Orlando Resort!
This theatrical parade features hundreds of dancers, popular characters, colorful parade floats, and of course, the larger-than-life Macy’s parade balloons.
Oh, and Santa himself makes an appearance too.
This is one of our favorite events in Orlando during the Christmas season.
Universal’s Holiday Parade Featuring Macy’s usually takes place at 5:30 p.m. in Universal Studios Florida. Dates and times are subject to change without notice so be sure to check the Universal Orlando mobile app.
Where is the best place to watch the Christmas parade?
I like to watch from the parking lot of Mel’s Diner, or somewhere close to that area. It has a great backdrop of 1950’s style buildings and it’s generally not as crowded there compared to other areas of the park.
The parade enters the park across from Mel’s Diner so you will be the first to see as it comes out. This also means you’ll see the end of the parade sooner than everyone else and can get a headstart on your next attraction.
Another great place to watch is near the Holiday Tribute Store, facing the 80-foot-tall Christmas tree. You’ll get the tree in a lot of your photos/video but it will be a little more crowded here. You’ll also have to wait for the parade to make its way into this area.
In either case, I recommend getting your spot about 45-60 minutes prior to the parade’s start time.
Grinchmas at Universal Islands of Adventure
The spirit of Grinchmas at Universal Islands of Adventure returns again this year.
It’s a popular event where the Grinch stars in the live retelling of the Dr. Seuss holiday classic, the “Grinchmas Who-liday Spectacular.”
Seuss Landing will be decked out with oversized candy canes, twisty Christmas trees, stunning tinsel ornaments, and more.
Breakfast with the Grinch at Universal Islands of Adventure
Start your day at Confisco Grille with the Grinch and his Who friends.
The Grinch and other Dr. Seuss characters will interact with guests during your breakfast.
Reservations are required and must be made up to 24 hours before arrival.
Reservations can be made by through your travel agent or by calling Universal directly.
I recommend that you arrive about 15 minutes prior to the reservation time to get checked in. You may not get seated right away.
This year the price is $58.99 per Adult + tax (Ages 10+). $32.99 per Child (Ages 3-9).
The Grinch Breakfast runs select dates November 17–December 27, 2023.
Holiday Celebrations at Universal CityWalk and Universal Orlando’s Hotels
Guests can keep the celebration going at Universal CityWalk with seasonal food and beverage and special entertainment.
Plus, all eight Universal Orlando Resort hotels will be decked out with festive décor that enhances each hotel’s theme – and the whole family can indulge in holiday feasts and activities.
Special menus will be available at Universal hotels for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s, and there will also be menorah lighting ceremonies and more.
Select hotels even offer special holiday entertainment like Christmas tree lightings and strolling carolers.

Universal Orlando Using Facial Recognition to Enter Theme Parks
Universal Orlando Resort is using a new way for guests to enter its theme parks. If you have ever been to Universal Orlando at rope-drop, you know that getting into the parks was painfully slow.
Well, the facial recognition system isn’t much faster. On our visit, the system processed one person every 15 sections, on average, that’s about 4 people per minute.
Facial recognition at Universal Orlando Resort
With Photo Validation at Park Entry, you just scan your theme park ticket, look at the camera, and enter the park.
Photo recognition replaces the biometric finger scan at the turnstiles.
I don’t know about you, but the thought of placing my finger in the exact same spot as thousands of other people was unsettling, especially post-pandemic.
Photo Validation is optional and is not required for entry into the Universal Orlando Parks.
Guests will be able to opt-out directly at Park Entry if they desire.
If a Guest chooses to opt-out of Photo Validation, they are required to show a valid Photo ID upon entry to validate their entitlement.
Guests will not need to do anything separate like pre-enroll. The setup process is easy and done right at the turnstile when you enter the parks, starting today!
Have questions about planning your Orlando vacation? I have answers! Contact me now to get more out of your vacation.
Universal Orlando has provided these Frequently Asked Questions about how to enter the Universal Orlando Theme Parks using facial recognition technology.
What data does Universal Orlando collect?
Universal Orlando takes a photo the first time a Guest uses their entitlement. From that photo, the software builds a Photo Template. A Photo Template is a unique set of data points based on facial features. On subsequent entries to Universal Orlando Resort, the Photo Template created on entry will be compared to the stored templates to validate access and prevent fraud.
Will there be a separate entrance for Guests who opt out of Photo Validation?
No. Guests who opt out of Photo Validation will still be able to use the regular park entrance. Opting out simply tells our access control system to not prompt for Photo Validation when that Guest’s ticket is scanned. Guests who opt out of Photo Validation will be asked to present photo ID each time they use their entitlement.
Can a Guest opt back in to Photo Validation?
Yes, Guests who opt-out and want to opt back in can do so at the park entrance or Guest Services.
Does Photo Validation work in the dark?
Yes, the camera works in low-light and nighttime environments.
How long will the images be stored in your system?
Photo Templates will be stored for no longer than six months after the expiration of the associated ticket or other entitlement. This is consistent with our finger scan biometric process.
Is Photo Validation accessible to Guests in wheelchairs?
Yes. Photo Validation was created with all Guests in mind. Our cameras were built with a field of view to be able to validate Guests whether tall, short, seated in a wheelchair, and more!
Is there anything different Guests need to do before they get to the gate?
No, they simply approach the park entrance with their park ticket ready - just like they would today.
If I opt out after using Photo Validation for the first time, is my information deleted?
Once a guest opts out of Photo Validation, any images or Photo Templates created / stored are deleted.
If I opt out of Photo Validation, what happens?
If a Guest decides to opt out of Photo Validation, they will continue to enter the park using the same lanes as guests who do use Photo Validation. The only difference that a Guest who has opted out will experience is that they will be required to present a valid Photo ID to validate their ticket.

This guide solves the Skyliner vs. Old Port Royale dilemma by showing you the best buildings in Aruba, Jamaica, and Trinidad. We provide detailed maps and specific room numbers to request for the shortest walk to the Skyliner hub, the main pool/dining area, and the coveted 5th sleeper rooms.
Wondering which rooms are near the Disney Skyliner station at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort? Want to know the difference between a Standard View and a Preferred Room? Or, which rooms are closer to the pool and restaurants? In this guide, I’ll share maps of Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and help you find the best room at this Walt Disney World Resort hotel.
Disney’s Caribbean Beach is a moderate category hotel, close to Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort
An overhead gondola system called Disney Skyliner provides transportation to both said theme parks and it’s a terrific perk. Not only is it efficient, but it’s also fun!
One of the reasons Caribbean Beach is so convenient is that it’s home to the central hub of Disney’s Skyliner System.
Skyliner routes originate at Caribbean Beach, which means you won’t have to transfer to a different line if you’re traveling to Epcot or Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
25 individual, 2-story buildings, make up Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort.
They are built around a lake known as Barefoot Bay. For this reason, buildings are very spread out here.
There are no elevators at Caribbean Beach Resort, so if stairs are an issue, you should make a request for a ground-floor room above all else.
The resort provides internal shuttles and vans that will take you and your luggage to your room.
Rooms at Caribbean Beach are accessed via exterior corridors.
Rooms at the end of most corridors have an additional side window that allows for more natural light, these are known as, “corner rooms.”
Heat and air conditioning come from a built-in unit under the window. The only moderate hotel to offer central air conditioning is Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort.
Rooms can accommodate up to 4-5 people. Rooms that can sleep 5 are known as 5th sleeper rooms. They come with a child-size fold-down bed that is ideal for a child up to age 9.
The main pool complex known as Fuentes del Morro is located next to Old Port Royale, the lobby and dining district of the resort.

It’s the first Moderate resort ever built at Walt Disney World
There are 5 villages with the resort named after Caribbean islands:
Aruba
The majority of the rooms in Aruba are either Standard View or Water View. They sit across the lake from Old Port Royale. Some rooms and buildings are actually closer to Disney’s Riviera Resort.
Barbados
Barbados is a Preferred section because it’s close to Old Port Royale, and the walk to the Skyliner station is an acceptable distance for most. In this section, you’ll find rooms in the Preferred and Water View categories. It’s as close to being the in middle of Old Port Royale and Skyliner as possible.
Jamaica
You’ll find Standard View and Water View rooms in Jamaica. Like Aruba, this section is across the water from Old Port Royale. This should be your requested section if you prefer to be closer to the Skyliner hub.
Martinique
Martinique is primarily a Preferred section with some Water View rooms as well. It’s the closest section to Old Port Royale, but also the furthest away from the Skyliner hub.
Trinidad
Trinidad is all by itself at Caribbean Beach. While it’s in a remote location, some rooms are actually a short walk from the Skyliner hub. But Trinidad is quite far from Old Port Royale.
You cannot specifically book a room in one of these villages, but I can enter a request with your reservation.
Pool in Jamaica at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. The main pool is located at Old Port Royale.
Each village has a smaller pool nearby for convenience. They each have their own bus depot as well so it’s not necessary to walk to Old Port Royale.
When making a room request at Caribbean Beach, you have to play the game Would You Rather. The 2 most utilized features of this hotel are Old Port Royale and the Skyliner station but they are nowhere near each other.
So, would you rather be closer to the dining, lobby, and feature pool in Old Port Royale, or would you rather be closer to Skyliner?
Let’s take a look at the different room categories offered here so you make some great room requests at Caribbean Beach.
Room Categories at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort
Standard View - views of parking areas or landscaping. 2 queen beds.
Standard View 5th Sleeper - views of parking areas or landscaping. 2 queen beds + 1 child-size pull-down bed.
Water or Pool View - views of the lake or a pool. 2 queen beds
Water or Pool View 5th Sleeper- views of the lake or pool. 2 queen beds + 1 child-size pull-down bed.
Preferred Rooms - close to Old Port Royale. Views of lake, pool, landscaping, or parking area. 2 queen beds or 2 queen beds + 1 child-size pull-down bed.
Best rooms at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort
Where are the Standard View Rooms at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort?
Remember you’ll need to decide if you want to be closer to Skyliner or closer to Old Port Royale but in either case, I recommend you narrow Standard View down to the Aruba and Jamaica villages. Trinidad is just too remote.
Caribbean Beach Rooms Close to Skyliner
If you wish to be closer to Skyliner, book a Standard View room and request Jamaica, specifically buildings 41, 42, and 43.
This photo was taken at Building 41 in Jamaica at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort.
And if you want to be closer to the lobby, feature pool and dining options, request a Standard View room in Aruba, specifically Buildings 51 and 52.
Jamaica and Aruba are across from Old Port Royale but there’s a bridge that will make the walk shoter.
Even more rooms close to Skyliner (sort of)
Caribbean Beach Rooms close to Disney’s Riviera Resort
Buildings 54, 55, and 56 in Aruba are closer to the Skyliner station at Disney’s Riviera Resort.
These are especially convenient if you plan to be most of your time at Epcot. These rooms are quite far from Old Port Royale, however, figure about a 10-minute walk. An internal resort shuttle is an option.
If you stay in 54, 55, or 56, you can use Riviera for dining too. No, you can’t use Riviera’s pool, unfortunately, but you’re welcome to use Riviera’s transportation and restaurants.
From the Riviera Skyliner station, you’ll be able to go express to Epcot quite easily, but to visit Hollywood Studios, you’ll need to take the Skyliner to the Caribbean Beach station and transfer to the Studios line. It’s not a major inconvenience but it’s an extra step.
Caribbean Beach is the central hub for Skyliner.
Building 55 in the Aruba village of Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort is closer to the Skyliner station at Disney’s Riviera Resort.
Where are the Water / Pool View Rooms at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort?
Water view rooms mean just that - either the lake or a pool. Not the feature pool, but one of the village pools.
Water View rooms are located in the same building as Standard View rooms in most cases, they are just located on the other side of the building - the side that faces water.
If you prefer to be closer to the lobby and restaurants, Building 51 in Aruba and Building 45 in Jamaica are the closest.
And if you want a short walk to the Skyliner, I recommend Buildings 42 and 43 in Jamaica and Building 34 in Trinidad.
Where are the Preferred Rooms at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort?
Preferred Rooms are located in the villages of Martinique and Barbados only. These are the closest villages to Old Port Royale where you’ll find dining and the feature pool.
Views from Preferred Rooms can be of courtyards, gardens, parking areas, lake, or pool. Disney does not specifically mention the room view in the Preferred category because the main advantage of these rooms is that they are close to Old Port Royale.
Martinique and Barbados also have their own bus depots plus there’s another one at Old Port Royale. This is convenient if you want to have breakfast and then head off the bus for the theme parks or even catch the internal shuttle to Skyliner.
The Disney Skyliner station is a 10-minute walk from these villages. Building 32 is my recommendation if you want to be closer to Disney Skyliner and Old Port Royale.
If you prefer to be closer to the feature pool and dining, I recommend Buildings 25 and 26 in Martinique and Building 31 in Barbados.

Room Requests at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort
I help my clients with room requests all the time so feel free to contact me for your next Disney World vacation. Together we can come up with the perfect room request.
Room requests have a better chance of being honored if you make them within the category you booked.
For example, if you booked a Standard View room and make a request to be near Old Port Royale, your request would have very little chance of being honored.
Preferred Rooms are located close to Old Port Royale and they cost more.
But if you request to be near Skyliner, that could easily be honored because that’s where most of the Standard View rooms are located.
Keep in mind that room requests cannot be guaranteed but Disney tries hard to honor them.

Things to do at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort
A unique vacation experience awaits at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort
For too long I overlooked this resort opting for places like Pop Century, Port Orleans, and the Polynesian but Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort is a classic Disney World vacation experience and I’m so glad I finally gave it a try. Actually, it’s one of the best Disney World vacations I’ve planned and I am not an outdoorsman or a camper.
Even if you’re a hotel buff like me, I say that’s all the more reason to try Fort Wilderness. I promise that you’ll have a uniquely Disney World experience here.
In this article, I’ll share some of my favorite things to do while at “Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground.”
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort - Wilderness Cabins
If you are like me and don’t have an RV it’s no problem, there are a number of places that rent them, even here in Orlando. A quick Google search will bring up quite a few. They can even deliver them to Fort Wilderness for you and set them up.
Or you can do what I did and book a Wilderness Cabin.
First of all, these cabins are very cozy inside but also spacious, and have the ability to accommodate up to 6 guests.
They have a living room, a kitchen with full-size appliances, a separate bedroom with a queen bed, and bunk beds.
But my favorite feature is the BBQ grill on the deck and the picnic table.
There’s something about being able to relax in your own vacation home right on Disney property, it’s absolutely wonderful.
Sure Disney’s hotels are wonderful, but you’re limited to 2 queen beds and maybe a balcony. But in a cabin, you have your piece of land to call home.
While the theme parks are a blast, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with taking a little time off and having a BBQ and maybe moseying over to the evening sing-a-long with Chip ‘n’ Dale. You’ll definitely want to plan an evening or two where you can just relax in the wilderness - the way Disney intended.
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort isn’t about the parks. It’s about being on vacation. Theme parks can be secondary because there are so many fun things to do here.
Cost of Wilderness Cabins
Now the big question everybody asks is, “How much do the Fort Wilderness Cabins cost per night?”
Unfortunately, there is no easy answer. It has to do with things like the time of year or if you want a room and ticket package. Generally speaking, Wilderness Cabins range in price from about $450 - $650 per night.
One of the best-kept secrets here at Walt Disney World is the Tri-Circle-D Ranch. It’s part attraction and part working horse stable.
The name is a reference to an old Mickey Mouse Club spin-off called The Adventures of Spin and Marty where the boys camped at the Triple R Ranch.
You can stroll through the stables to visit Cinderella’s ponies and the working horses of Walt Disney World - there are about 90 in all.
Don’t miss the antique calliope, it was purchased by Walt Disney himself for the opening of Disneyland in the 1950s. There’s also a little museum dedicated to Walt Disney’s love of horses. There are some great memorabilia pieces and photos inside.
The Tri-Circle-D Ranch also offers horseback riding and pony rides for little ones. Horseback riding requires advance reservations and is actually located in a separate barn at Fort Wilderness located at the Outpost.
Horse-drawn carriage and wagon rides
There are horse-drawn carriage and wagon rides offered at the resort. Advance reservations are recommended by calling 407-WDW-PLAY. These tours can be booked starting 60 days in advance. As your travel advisor, I’m also happy to make the reservation for you.
These horse-drawn rides take you on a tour through Ft Wilderness. This is a great way to see the Fort, especially during the fall when many of the campers set up elaborate Halloween and Christmas displays at their campsites.
Campers at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort started an unofficial tradition of setting up magical Halloween and Christmas displays around their campsites.
During the Christmas season, there’s even a horse-drawn sleigh ride available - but since this is Florida, the sleigh is on wheels! So, just use your Disney imagination there.
Onsite General Stores
There are two general stores at the Fort: The Settlement Trading Post and The Meadow Trading Post.
Both offer select grocery items, mostly essentials like milk, eggs, bread, and other necessities that you might need to set up your vacation cabin.
If you’re a Disney nerd, you might consider Disney merchandise to be an essential part of your shopping list, and don’t worry, there’s plenty of that too.
I like they have a number of Ft. Wilderness logo gear as well. These items can’t be purchased anywhere else at Walt Disney World.
Now, if you’re wondering about how you can have a BBQ, at your cabin, the Meadow Trading Post and Settlement Trading Post carry charcoal, firewood, and even smores kits.
Golf cart rentals at Disne’s Fort Wilderness Resort
How to Rent a Golf Cart at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort
I saved the best for last. The one that you must do at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort is to rent a golf cart. Even if you have your own vehicle, I say ditch the family car and spring for a golf cart. You really can’t drive your car around the resort anyway because there isn’t any place to park other than your cabin or campsite.
Golf carts cost about $80 per night for a 24-hour rental period. I recommend reserving a golf cart in advance by calling 407-824-2742.
They do sell out. Now, if you forgot to make your reservation, you can join a waitlist at the check-in desk. You’ll receive a text if one has been made available for you.
As your travel advisor, I can arrange a golf cart rental for you as well.
You must have a driver’s license and be a guest at Ft Wilderness to rent a golf cart because it is billed to your campsite or cabin.
You’ll see golf carts everywhere at the Fort. I think driving around in our golf cart was the most fun we had during our entire stay.
We, meandered around each night just to enjoy the scenery and the fresh air. We even spotted some wildlife like deer and wild turkeys.
I recommend taking a drive around to explore the resort and check out some of the RVs - some are quite impressive.
But you can also drive it to the pool, the general stores, and even to the Magic Kingdom boat launch at the Settlement and the bus depot at the Outpost.
Transportation at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort
Fort Wilderness has internal buses just like Port Orleans and Caribbean Beach. There are two main transportation hubs at Fort Wilderness: the Outpost and the Settlement. They are on polar opposite sides of the resort.
Boat to Magic Kingdom from Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground
The Outpost is the main bus stop for the theme parks (except for Magic Kingdom). You’ll need to walk, drive your golf cart, or take the internal shuttle to the Outpost if you want to visit EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney Springs, or the water parks.
The Settlement is all the way in the back of the resort complex and it’s where you’ll find the restaurants, the Hoop Dee Doo dinner show, a general store, and a boat dock for Magic Kingdom transportation.
Magic Kingdom can be accessed by boat or you can take a bus from the Settlement depot.
Map of Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort (click or tap to enlarge).
Just make sure a Magic Kingdom bus is running, sometimes it isn’t which means you’ll need to take a boat or take a bus to the nearby Wilderness Lodge Resort and transfer there.
You can call the front desk for current transportation availability.
When going to Magic Kingdom, I recommend taking the boat. It’s a scenic ride that passes by Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort and Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
The boat ride is about 10 -20 minutes depending on whether or not goes express.
Some boats will stop at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and/or Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
Whether or not the boat runs express varies by time or day and even by season.
If the boat is making stops at other resorts, add about 8 minutes per stop to the time it takes to reach Magic Kingdom.

Now of course this isn’t everything there is do to at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort.

Best Rooms at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort
Where to find the Standard View, Water View, Preferred View rooms at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort
Want to know where the Standard View, Water View, and Preferred Rooms are at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort? In this article, I’ll go show you where you can find them, review some of the best rooms in Coronado Springs, and more.
With over 2,000 guest rooms and 64 suites, Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is one of the larger hotels at Walt Disney World.
But this moderately priced, Spanish-themed resort is also one of the best-kept secrets at Disney World: it’s a terrific value for your money!
How Coronado Springs is different from other Disney Moderate Resorts
Upgraded softgoods (bed linens, towels, pillows)
Central air conditioning (other moderates have window units)
Only moderate resort that has fitness centers
Multiple dining options from casual to fine dining, including an upscale rooftop restaurant and several bars/lounges
Only moderate resort to offer Club Level and suites
Tower rooms are accessed via interior hallways
Tower rooms have bath upgrades like rain showers
There are two main sections of the resort:
The Campus
Gran Destino Tower
Gran Destino Tower
Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort - Gran Destino Tower
Gran Destino Tower has a combination of standard rooms and suites. This is where you’ll find the Club Level lounge known as the Chronos Club. Rooms are accessed via interior hallways in the tower.
Most rooms in Gran Destino Tower sleep 4, but there are also a number of suites.
Coronado Spings Campus
Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort - Campus Section
The Campus at Coronado Springs is made up of 2, 3, and 4-story buildings, there are 12 of them in all.
Standard rooms have 2 queen beds and sleep up to 4 adults.
Rooms within the Coronado Springs Campus are accessed via exterior corridors with exterior entry to the rooms.
Some rooms at the end of each corridor have an additional side window that allows for more natural light, these are known as, “corner rooms.”
Each of the villages has a pool but there’s also a feature pool complex called the Dig Site. This is where you’ll find a Mayan temple-themed water slide and pool bar.
The Campus section is made up of 3 villages:
Casitas Village
Casitas is made up of 3 and 4-story buildings and it’s the closest to the lobby, dining, and convention center.
It’s themed in a more urban setting with courtyards, tranquil fountains, and market-style buildings.
Ranchos Village
Ranchos has a village vibe - think the American Southwest with cactus plants and rock gardens. 2 and 3-story buildings make up Ranchos. While this is one of the prettiest sections of the resort, some buildings are far from the lobby and dining.
Cabanas Village
Cabanas has some of the best water-view rooms that overlook the lake. It’s also the second closest village to the main lobby and dining after Casitas.
You cannot specifically book a room in one of these villages, but I can enter a request with your reservation.
Room Categories at Coronado Springs
Campus Section
Standard View - views of courtyard or parking area. 2 queen beds. Sleeps 4
Water View - views of pool or lake. 2 queen beds. Sleeps 4.

Gran Destino Tower - Standard View Rooms -Views of the parking area
Gran Destino Tower - Water View Rooms - views of the lake and campus
Best Rooms at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort
Where are the Standard View rooms?
Grand Destino Tower Standard View Rooms
Standard View rooms in Grand Destino Tower will have a view of the parking area and a distant view of Disney’s Hollywood Studios including the Hollywood Tower of Terror.
Campus Standard View Rooms
Standard View rooms in the campus are the most economical room category within the resort.
Disney’s Coronado Springs - Standard View Room Locations
See the average nightly rates of Walt Disney World hotels ▸
There are more Standard View rooms than any other category and they are found in every building of the campus, except buildings 1 and 3 in Casitas (these are all Preferred Rooms and Suites).
The definition of Standard View varies at Coronado Springs; it can mean a view of a courtyard and/or a parking area.
In the Standard View category, I recommend making a request not by view, but by location.
If you prefer a room with a shorter walk to the main lobby and dining, request buildings 2, 4, or 5 in Casitas.
Remember that Casitas is closest to the resort’s lobby, dining, and convention center.
Standard view rooms in Buildings 2 and 4 are close to the laundry facilities and village pool. Building 4 is closest to the Casitas bus depot.
And if you would like to be closest to the Coronado’s feature pool, The Dig Site, rooms in building 5 are the closest via the bridge that runs across the lake.
If you prefer a room located in a quiet location away from a lot of people walking by your room, request a room in Ranchos buildings 7A, 6A, and 6B and 8A and 8B in Cabanas.
Just keep in mind that Ranchos is pretty remote while Cabanas is somewhat closer to the lobby and dining.
Where are the Water View rooms?
Grand Destino Tower Water View Rooms
Rooms on the back side of the tower overlook the lake and campus are considered Water View rooms. Water view rooms cost only slightly more than Standard View rooms but aside from the view, they are identical inside.
If you request a Water View room on a high floor, you’ll have a distant view of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park and maybe even of Expedition Everest.
I recommend upgrading to Water View, the view is worth the additional cost. The campus and lake look beautiful at night when it’s all lit up.
Campus Water View Rooms
Water-view rooms mean literally just that - water!
But this could be water in a pool or water in a lake.
You’ll find Water View rooms in Casitas, Ranchos, and Cabanas villages. There’s no way to manually select which type of water view you will have, your room will be selected on check-in day.
Some of the best Water View rooms at Coronado Springs are found in the Casitas and Cabanas villages.
In Casitas the best Water View rooms are in Buildings 3 and 5.
In Cabanas, these will be buildings 8B and 8C.
For the best of both worlds, convenient location, and water view, I recommend Buildings 3 and 5 in Casitas.
Just keep in mind that a walkway runs between the buildings and the lake so it won’t exactly feel very private.
For a little more privacy, request a Water View room in Cabanas. Yes, there’s a walkway there too, but the buildings are set further back.
You could also request Building 4, which is closer to the main lobby than Building 5 but here’s the issue.
Remember that a water view room can also “pool view.”
Some rooms in Building 4 overlook the lake, but there are more rooms that overlook the quiet pool.
This means you have a greater chance of getting a pool-view room in Building 4 than a view of the lake.
You’ll need to be more specific with your water view room request in Building 4 - pool or lake.
Where are the Preferred rooms?
First, it’s important to know that Preferred rooms at Disney’s Coronado Springs resort cost more than other Campus categories and have views of the lake, courtyard, or parking areas.
Why would a parking lot view room cost more? Well notice that Preferred Room doesn’t mention a specific view. These rooms are simply in a convenient location.
Preferred Rooms are located in Casitas, closest to the convention center, restaurants, shopping, and lobby.
You can request a specific view in the preferred category, either a view of the lake or one of the courtyards.
Preferred rooms are located in buildings 1, 2, and 3.
Are preferred rooms worth the additional cost? Yes, Coronado Springs is a massive resort and the added convenience of having a shorter walk is money well spent here.
Preferred rooms that are also in a quiet location can be found in buildings 1 and 3 with courtyard views.
Rooms that are close to the convention center are in Buildings 1 and 2.
Buildings 2 and 3 are closest to the village pool in Casitas and the resort’s feature pool The Dig Site. The quickest route to the feature pool is to take the bridge across the lake.
Room Requests at Coronado Springs
I make room requests for clients all the time and have learned a few tricks of the trade that help increases your chances of having your requests honored. But requests are never guaranteed.
Based on my client’s feedback, my room requests are honored about 80% of the time.
My Recommended Rooms at Coronado Springs
Here’s my shortlist of recommended rooms at Coronado Springs. Keep in mind that similar rooms may exist on the upper or lower floors of the building as well.
For example, Room 3271 is building 3, 2nd floor, room 71. Room 3371 (3rd floor) offers a similar view.
Most of the requests I receive are for upper floors because they offer a little more privacy than ground-floor rooms and a better view.
My recommended rooms are all near stairs and/or an elevator.
Standard View - Casitas 3271
Building 3, Casitas, 2nd. floor
Located near an elevator
Close to main lobby and dining
Standard View - Casitas 3295
Building 3, Casitas, 2nd floor

Tips for making room requests
It’s better to leave room requests as general as possible. The more general they are, the more likely they will be honored.
Requests for a room near the bus stop, a particular room or building, or a “high floor” are viable requests and have a great chance of being honored.
While you might not get the exact room you requested, it gives the person assigning your room a sense of what you’re looking for. Chances are you’ll at least get something similar.
I do not recommend requesting a room that is outside of your category. Free upgrades are highly unlikely because the resorts sell out nearly every night at Walt Disney World.

This year will bring several “firsts” to the festival.

Disney Cruise Line marked another incredible milestone on Oct. 27 when the Disney Wonder set sail from the shores of Australia for the first time ever, embarking on the inaugural ‘Disney Magic at Sea’ in Australia and New Zealand.
These two- to six-night special sailings continue through February 2024 and allow guests to experience the magic of Disney right in their backyard, with cruises departing from four different home ports: Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, Australia and Auckland, New Zealand.
I’m so excited that Disney Cruise Line will return to Australia and New Zealand in fall of 2024 for a second season of vacations, with departures running from October to February!
On its way back to Australia, the Disney Wonder will first embark on a set of itineraries, sailing from Vancouver, Canada, to Honolulu, Hawaii, in late September 2024 with stops on the islands of Kauai, Maui, Hawaii and Oahu.
From Hawaii, families will set sail on a transpacific voyage to Sydney, Australia, that will visit once-in-a-lifetime destinations such as Fiji, American Samoa and New Caledonia.

Details on the Haunted Mansion Themed Bar on Disney Treasure
First-Ever Haunted Mansion Bar Coming to the Disney Treasure in 2024
The design of the Haunted Mansion Parlor, coming to the Disney Treasure, will resemble a first-class drawing room of a classic cruise liner from the golden age, invoking inspiration from the original Haunted Mansion with a nautical twist.
This will be the first Disney parks themed bar on any Disney Cruise Line ship.
Complete with nostalgic tributes to Haunted Mansion attractions around the world, fans will recognize the iconic wallpaper and the distinctive purple armchair tucked in the corner.
Guests will also encounter a few legendary characters from the original Disney Parks attraction, as well as some new seafaring arrivals, in a portrait gallery depicting the Disney Treasure’s own ghostly residents.
Onboard the Disney Treasure, an exclusive new merchandise collection that will offer an array of haunted homewares and sinister souvenirs!
The Haunted Mansion Parlor Music Box will be a keepsake inspired by an eerie music box that will be found inside the Haunted Mansion Parlor.
As the rumors go, this mysterious box belonged to the captain’s bride-to-be and only opens in the presence of malevolent spirits.
Inspired by the old grandfather clock from the original Disneyland attraction, the Haunted Mansion Parlor clock will evoke the nostalgic allure of the Haunted Mansion.
And, a ghost may even follow you home on your voyage… The Haunted Mansion Parlor Mirror will offer a frightening surprise when the hitchhiking ghosts mysteriously appear in the frame.
The Haunted Mansion Parlor will offer a selection of ghostly cocktails that capture the spirit of the famed theme park attraction.
One drink blends blood orange and sour cherry flavors in a shimmering zero proof cocktail served in a specialty mug aptly titled, Sympathetic Libations.
The Ghoulish Delight, which has hints of sweetness and nuttiness, combines decadent ube fudge, oat milk and tapioca pearls in a purple concoction garnished with a gummy eyeball and ube glitter.
There is also a spooky twist on a classic margarita, presented to guests amidst a swirl of flavored smoke. The signature tequila-based cocktail is topped with a lemon salt foam and contains a secret message that is only revealed by black light.

The Best Rooms at Disney's Pop Century Resort
Where are the best rooms at Disney’s Pop Century Resort? It’s all right here (with maps).
Disney's Pop Century Resort is a great place to stay for families and couples who are looking for a fun and affordable Disney vacation. But Pop Century is a large Resort with close to 3,000 rooms spread over 175 acres. Booking the right room here should be an important part of your vacation planning process. So, where are the best rooms at Pop Century? Let’s get started.
Typical 2 Queen room at Disney’s Pop Century Resort
Disney's Pop Century Resort is a value-priced hotel located in Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. It is themed to the pop culture of the 1950s through the 1990s, with each building decorated to represent a different decade.
The resort was originally going to open in December 2001, though the opening was delayed until December 14, 2003, due to the tourism crash that followed the events on 9/11.
Only half of the resort opened while the other half sat abandoned for years - eventually becoming Disney’s Art of Animation Resort in 2012.
Watch the video on Best Rooms at Disney’s Pop Century Resort
Pop Century Resort is also on the Disney Skyliner Transportation System, a terrific perk. This overhead gondola system flies guests to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot.
It’s on the southern spur of the network so you’ll need to change gondolas at the Caribbean Beach station depending on which theme park you want to visit.
There could be long lines to board the Skyliner during peak times, and then more long lines when you need to transfer gondolas but they do move quickly.
Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort is the Skyliner hub, so if you stay at this resort, you won’t have to transfer gondolas. But it does cost more than Pop Century.
The feature pool, known as the Hippy Dippy Pool, is located directly behind the lobby and food court, known as Classic Hall.
Guide to Pop Century Rooms
Pop Century is made up of 10, 4-story buildings. Rooms are about 260 square feet. How does this compare to other Disney hotels?
Well, Moderate Resort hotel rooms are about 315 square feet and Deluxe Resort hotel rooms are about 380 square feet. So yeah, they are a little small.
The vast majority of rooms come with 2 queen size beds… sort of.
One of the beds is a Murphy Bed (or “Table Bed’) that also doubles as a table.
This is a genius move on Disney’s part because, with one of the beds out of the way, your 260-square-foot room suddenly feels much larger.
Pop Century Standard Room Floorplan
There are some rooms that have king beds - these rooms can sleep up to 2 adults plus 1 child up to age 3 in a crib.
Does Pop Century have elevators? Yes, there are elevators at Pop Century so if you have strollers you’ll be able to access each floor with ease.
However, if you have a scooter I would recommend that you make a request for a ground-floor room - it’s just a lot easier.
Rooms are accessed via exterior hallways. Rooms have central Heat and air conditioning.
I have a room tour video on Pop Century rooms that I’ll link to in the description below.
How does Pop Century Compare to other Disney Value Resorts?
Well, it’s nearly identical in layout and size to Disney’s All Stars Resort, also in the Value category but Pop is more centrally located on Walt Disney World property.
All Stars tends to cater to youth groups and while Pop Century is sometimes used for this too, it’s not as common.
Having the added benefit of being on Skyliner, Pop Century tends to cost slightly more per night than Disney’s All Stars Resort.
If it’s within your budget, I would recommend Pop Century over All-Stars.
Art of Animation is Pop Century’s sister hotel, they even share the same Skyliner station.
But Art of Animation is primarily a family suite resort. But that’s a different show.
Art of Animation has a limited number of standard rooms and I would consider them to be the flagship value rooms of Walt Disney World.
They have a Little Mermaid theme and they are larger by nearly 20 sq feet. They also cost more.
There are 2 additional pools at this resort located in the 1950s sections and in the 1990s section that are more convenient to the outermost buildings at the resort.
There are 10 buildings at Pop Century, divided into 5 sections named after decades from the 1950s through the 1990s.
Pop Century Room Categories
Standard Rooms are the most economical room category within Pop Century and can be furthest away from the feature pool and amenities, but not necessarily.
Views won’t be too impressive - likely landscaping, a service area, or a parking lot.
Standard rooms are found throughout the entire resort, in every section.
Where you’ll find Standard Rooms
I wouldn’t put a lot of emphasis on view at a value resort. These resorts are so big, it’s better to book your room by location.
Standard Pool View are run-of-the-house rooms close to one of the resort pools - but probably not the feature pool.
Most people select this room category not because of the view but because they are guaranteed to be close to one of the pools.
Where you’ll find Standard Pool View Rooms
You’ll find Standard Pool View rooms in buildings 1, 2, 3, 7, and 9.
Buildings 1 and 3 are more desirable because they are a little closer to Classic Hall and Skyliner.
But Buildings 7 and 9 are a little closer to the bus stop where you can catch the bus to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom.
Preferred Rooms are guaranteed to be centrally located within the resort.
These rooms will be close to the lobby known as Classic Hall, the Disney Skyliner station, the bus stop, and dining.
It's worth noting that these rooms cost only slightly more per night than a Standard Room and are well worth the extra cost.
Many times the cost is only $20 more per night but it makes a big difference.
You’ll have a lot less walking to do. Preferred Rooms at Pop Century are all about location.
Where you’ll find Preferred Rooms
Preferred Rooms are located in Buildings 1, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 10.
These are the most popular rooms at Pop Century and tend to book up before other categories, even though they cost more.
Preferred Pool View rooms located in Buildings 4 and 5 are centrally located within the resort and guaranteed to be near the Hippy Dippy Feature Pool.
I recommend requesting a higher floor so you can actually see the pool from above and for some added privacy.
Where you’ll find Preferred Pool View Rooms
Pop Century Sections (Decades)
The 1950’s (Buildings 1, 2, 3) have their own neighborhood pool.
There’s a mix of Standard and Preferred rooms here.
Buildings 1 and 3 are close to Classic Hall, somewhat close to Skyliner, but far from the bus stop.
The 1960s and the 1970s (Buildings 4, 5, 6, and 10) are the most requested sections at Pop Century.
They are all close to Classic Hall and Skyliner Station.
This section houses Standard, Standard Pool, Preferred, and Preferred Pool View rooms.
Buildings 7 and 9 make up the 1980s section. You’ll find mostly Standard and Standard Pool View rooms.
While some rooms in this section can be far from Classic Hall, they have their own pool and they are close to the bus stop.
The 1990s has just one building - Building 8. This is the furthest away from Classic Hall, Skyliner, but somewhat close to the bus stop.
But everything else will be a hike.
Rooms on the east side of the building tend to have noise issues with nearby Osceola Parkway, just on the other side of the trees.
If you book your room through a travel wholesaler like Priceline, odds are your room will be in the 90s.
Remember that Preferred Rooms are only slightly more than Standard Rooms most of the time, so I would begin my search with a Preferred Room at Pop Century.
Preferred Pool View rooms are closer to the pool, yes, but they can also be noisy. They are also the priciest room category at this hotel.
Best Locations at Pop Century
There’s no doubt that the 1960s are the most convenient.
But these rooms are in high-traffic areas with people walking by to get to the pool and Skyliner.
I recommend a higher floor because you’ll have more privacy and better views.
Rooms Close to Skyliner
If you prefer to be close to Disney Skyliner, I recommend booking a Preferred Room and requesting buildings 4 and 5.
Many of these rooms have good views of the Hour Glass Lake and the Skyliner gondolas.
Rooms with a view
The best views at Pop Century will be the Standard Room and Preferred rooms that overlook Hourglass Lake and Skyliner. Buildings 3, 4, 5, and 6 all have rooms that overlook the lake.
Remember that at Disney World Value Hotels, Preferred rooms are more about location, than view.
Standard Rooms in the 1960s tend to have better views, while Preferred are more convenient.
Why is it better to book a Preferred room versus a Standard Room? Well, even though many buildings contain both Preferred and Standard, a Preferred Room is guaranteed to be in a convenient location.
Room requests are not guaranteed so you could end up with a standard room in the 1990s even if you have made a request for the 1960s.
If you prefer not to roll the dice, book a Preferred Room.
I help my clients with room requests all the time so feel free to contact me for your next Disney World vacation. Together we can come up with the perfect room request.
Room requests have a better chance of being honored if you make them within the category you booked.
For example, if you booked a Standard Room and made a request to be near Skyliner, your request would have very little chance of being honored.
Preferred Rooms are located close to Skyliner and they cost more. So essentially you’d be asking for a free upgrade and that is unlikely to happen.
Keep in mind that room requests cannot be guaranteed but Disney tries hard to honor them.
My Recommended Rooms at Disney’s Pop Century Resort
For Standard Rooms I like Building 3, especially Room 3435. It has terrific views of the lake and Skyliner and it’s nice and quiet.
For PReferred Rooms, Room 4436 in Building 4 has a view of trees and a partial view of Building 5.
I also like room 6112 in building 6. It’s a ground-floor room just steps away from the classic hall
